VS 2005 - Put Event - Small Database Program That Gets Data From Csv File

I have a small database program that gets data from csv file, I created a function that formats the font color of textboxes based on dates and values.
CODE:
I place this in text changed event and I have a problem implementing it, because the date conversion will not take place until the data is loaded. The second part works but not the first(Date) part.
I can create a button and use its click event to format the text boxes just fine, however i wanted the text boxes to be formatted on the fly . The problem is no matter where i call the function the date conversion wont work.

i have a textbox that i want to format the value and i placed it in the Validated event.. it works ok when a user enters a value but when data is being loaded from database, it doesn't format.

I need to make a small programm for ticketing on a parking for a small hotel.So i have 2 Printers pariking In (for delivery of the tickets) and 2 Readers PArking Out.Both Printers and REaders are working Serial.So i need to poll the serial ports of the printers and readers every second.The data is stored on a SQL database so i need to read and write in the database.Can i do this with 1 PC and 1 programm or 1 PC and 4 programms that are runnning at the same time ?

i have a small program to get text from a DAT file. the program gets all the text and puts it into a rich text box (rtb1) then I click a button (btnformat) to split the text in the dat file into indexes so that I can output the indexes that I want to an excel file. This program works when I use small amounts of data but if I use say 800 lines of text the program crashes/ can't handle the volume of data and just stalls.

What I'm trying to do is write a small program that copies a file from a USB to another directory so a program already installed on the computer can load this data.Usually copying files from one directory into another wouldn't be an issue.

If possible i would also like to change the code i have written so it just loads January2009.txt from the "root directory" of the USB rather than having to specify H: because if i put the USB in someone elses computer this could change to G: and then it wouldn't work.

Is it possible to use VB code to code an application that can merge Hex data from a small (50kb) .dat file with the hex data from another small (50kb) file? This would require designating specific offsets, which I can pre-program, but If I could have user input this would be preferred.
Example.
Hex_1.dat
00 00 00 00 00 11 11 11 11 11 (Offset = 5)
Hex_2.dat
22 22 22 22 22 33 33 33 33 33 (To offset = 5)
Result file
Result.dat

I want to create small database which handles Student Attendance Record it will store the roll calls of students on daily basis that teachers collect from the students in the class on paper and then later transfer it on computer .So my database Must contain Month, Year, Program (BCS, BIT, MS, MCS, MIT etc) Batch (1st, 2nd etc) and Subject (English, Math, Geography etc)
Suppose I want to Search for the Attendance Sheet of any month, year, Program, Batch or Subject, it returns me the required dataSo i come up with the Datadase which includes 5 dimension tables and one fact tableDimension Tables1. Student (StudentID, Name, other Attributes)2. Program (Program_Name, other Attributes)3. Date (Date, Week, Month, Year)4. Batch (Batch_Number, Description)5. Subject (Subject_Name, other Attributes)Fact TableAttendanceTable ( StudentID, Program, Date, Batch, Subject, Status)but the problem come when certain columns are repeating again and again which is time consuming for database operator and shows inconsistent behaviour of database.

problems:1. The StudentId is repeating which shouldn't (Primary Key),2.It wastes a lot of time coz i'm repeating the data again and again Like Program, Date and Batch which shouldn't be in consistent Databases.

I am having a problem with my program that is desinged to read a 3rd party text file database. I posted previosuly about a problem inserting an item in a new row and the column was expectig a different data type. It appears that sometimes the column is being determined to be of decimal value, I dont understand why. the fields contain information such as
Col1
F123456
CLW-12321 etc....
So my column fills with
123456
12321 the letters just get chopped off
So I added MaxScanRows = 0 to my schema file and that took care of the problem
Except now several of my columns that contain Date Values are coming back
9/24/2010 00:00:00
without the setting MaxScanRows = 0
The date returned 9/24/2010

I am thinking that without the MaxScanRows = 0 setting the datatype for Col1 is being incorrectly determined
I am not sure what is happening with other columns that contain date values. Apparently If i use MaxScan Rows=0 all columns are being pulled over as string value which creates numerous problems. If I dont use maxscanrows then all columns appear to be correct except Col21 MLSNUM which is being pulled in as a decimal. Can I change that in the schema file?

I have a tabcontrol with 3 tabs. I can't see where any event is raised when I click the small tab area (where the name of the tabpage is). I see where an event is raised when I click on the tabpage itself. What is the event for the small tab area? I am getting by with a mousemove event over the currently selected tabpage.

before re-inventing the wheel, i want to ask you how i can do this best: I have a VB.Net application that uses a database connection to MS SQL Server 2005 (express version). There are users that input data with the application into the database lets say once to 2x an hour to once a minute. I want to do backups like this: Once a day or once a week (in the evening) a full backup, and whenever the program/user is idle for lets say 10 Minutes, i want to do an incremental backup (so that it does not take so long until he can work on after the backup).
There are no big security issues, just copying the backup data files to a network share / a different computer or server would be fine. i guess the average db size may be 300MB, but the daily increments about 1MB.

I have a VB 2008 console application .NET 3.5 who handles large data tables in a SQL 2005/8 database. Sometimes when SQL server do not response as application expect. Then SQL Connection change status from open. I try to get the event of changed connection string before error occurs.
1 - SQL Connection status changes from open to another status
2 - When this event fires a fix sub routine or function starts and fix the sql connection
3 - Return back where SQL Connection was when status was affected by program.
My app is a large list of SQL Commands who runs in a class orginsed as a simple list of sqlcommands.When a SQL Connection fails I will start at the last point in the program after SQL Connection are open again.

This program is very difficult for me, but I must get threw it or I cannot finish... What I am doing is making a Database of foreign Languages with the spelling of the words and the pronounciation inside the database... The USER enters a paragraph of words into the translator textbox and pushed translate. The program has a DATABANK of words with the phonetic spellings and matches the word, then translates to phonetics. The problem is that new words keep appearing inside the language. I have an application that uses Dataset.WriteXML to create a small backup before data is syncronized to a data store (less than a meg).This application has worked well for 5 years now, and all of a sudden with the installation of XML 6.0 SP2 the XML document is not working correctly.I have multiple tables within a Dataset (Company, Contact, Notes, etc...)When WriteXML is called, the first table should be Company, however, the first table is being named Contact with the Company Data in it. The Notes table is being called Contact and so forth. In other words it's not giving the correct names to the tables in the XML File.This appears to be a bug, which is causing great distress on all the companies who have been using this program.

I recently upgraded the MS SQL Server installed on my personal computer from 2005 Express to 2008 Express. Problem is when I try to add an SQL database file to a project using VS 2005 I get an error message saying that the version of my database server is not supported, I must have SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 or later installed. I didn't do it yet but I'm pretty sure that when I open the other projects that I included a database file to it, I'm going to get the same error.
My question is it possible to have two SQL Servers installed on my machine? If so, is it a good idea to have two DB servers in the same machine?

I am using VB 2008 Express to connect to an Access 2007 database. I have a combo box that is populated by the database. When I used the Access report VBA, I used the AfterUpdate() event to calculate a sum and place the results in a text box. I need to know how to do the same operation in VB 2008 Express using the SelectedIndexChanged event of the combo box.
The combo box is called "cboYearMonth" and is populated by my database, this is working correctly.
The text box that I want the calculated results to appear in is called "ExactPagesTextbox"
I have a query in Access called "JobTypeExact_Query" that contains all the pages that I need. What I need to do is calculate the total number of "Pages" limited to the YEARMONTH selected in the combo box. YEARMONTH is a value in every record in this query.
