I'm writing something to download about 200 small (Around 200kb) files at a time. I pass the file urls off to a class which starts the downloads. The problem is that it'll start the download (Just creates a 0kb file) and then slowly downloads each file one by one, waiting for the next to complete despite this being a threaded class. This would be fine but after about a minute, windows removes all of the 0kb files and I'm stuck with only a few of the files being downloaded. How to get multiple files to be downloaded concurrently?
Imports System.Net Imports System.IO Public Class DownloadClass Public downloadUrl As String Public folderURL As String [Code] .....
Any way to save all files that are being downloaded trough the WebBrowser I've made in my Visual Studio 2010 to a specific location, by letting user to chose option save file without knowing where it saves. Or maybe to don't show the "save file" thing at all.
I am currently working on a project, which requires to download files from the internet and copy them to certain directory's... I've done the downloading part but I can't seem to get the directory working. The directory is "special" E.G. Appdata Program Files etc., and well when I tried just using %appdata% it seemed to create a new directory NAMED %appdata% rather than actually goto appdata...
I have VB 2008 Express installed in my PC. I downloaded a program source code written in VB6 but could not open the files. What do I need to do to get this codes displayed.
I have a process serves as an application updater. It checks it's local cache of files and compares this against list of files online. On it's first run there are no files in the local cache and it therefore downloads ~100 of these files.[code]This appears to work very well, since Explorer confirms that all files are extracted and available. However when I later run this process again, it cannot verify the existence of 6 of these files and therefore tries to download them despite the fact that they are clearly both present and up to date. The offending code is a simple File.Exists call which appears to deny the local existence of these files, and therefore tries to get them again. The system continues to work well, but over time the continual downloading of these 6 files is going to get kind of silly.
making a simple web browser for work eeh, what like to know is if its possible to save a file of a particular extension to a particular file.I currently use googels chrome when downloading a file it places this (regardless of extension) in a downloads folder without asking where I ant to download this too.
I am having trouble openning my vb.net projects in vs2005. What happens when i open one is that i get several windows downloading files from the Appdatalocal emp folder. It says "do you want to open or save this file?. the file name is several random charactors with the tmp extension. do not suggest a virus. The tmp files in question are vs 2005 generated files. they contain html data indicating a problem on the form. If i close all the forms in the tabbed code area, and rebuild the project, then all is well. If i don't build the project, then when i open a form up onto the code area, i get a new download message. Anyone ever heard of this? I suspect IE8 but cannot recall if this all started when i installed IE8 or not.
How your guys run the IIS? I am just done a project (vb.net with access) on the vb 2008 express, but not sure the steps to set up and run the project on the internet with IIS?
i want to specify a folder and then have all files from "Temporary Internet Files" copied in to the specified location. I have specified both locations, and yet it fails. I think this could be caused by the fac that the "Temporary Internet Files" is located within a hidden file/s How should i go about copying the directory?
JUst started to program in VB again after a long downtime (5-6 years).During this time I have been programing in ADA , Java and have therefore forgotten the "VB-way of doing things". Anyway..I'm triyng to build a web-aplication that looks like a normal questionform. [code]When the user hits "Submit" I want to add this information to a Excel-sheet(that exist in the same map as the web-page).Also I want to to program to check if that "Type" of event is already book for that date and time.I can easily do some of this in a "normal " application but is there anything special I have to think about when it's a web-app?Im also wondering how its works when you want to copy info from my application to a excel-book. How do I do that ?
I need to create an application (or find one application) that copies files from a computer to another, across the internet to create automatic backups. The target computer is a company server to which i have phisical access. The "source" computer(s) (several computers in several clients, that we - company, have also phisical acess). Solutions like teamviewer, PcAnywhere,... just don't fit because we already use them but they don't allow to create automatic backups. how can i copy files across the internet, using VB .NET, from one computer to another?
[URL]..it just comes up with an error. am i doing it right? and is there any way i can just download it to the same folder that my program is in no matter what computer its on?
I searched, but couldn't find any useful topics. I am needing to clear the temperary internet files in my program. I need to do this because I have a very long and elaborate process when you start usinging the program, and it may not function right if they are not cleared.
I try to delete my Temporary Internet Files and I do it by using the command "kill()", but I get an error:"No files found matching".What is the problem?
I am trying to make file transfer program in vb.net 2008 for big files eg. 10 GB.i was able to code simple socket program to transfer files with small size by using Sockets but if the file is large then "File.ReadAllBytes(ComboBox1.Text)" command will not work cause it use lot of memory & if the file is really big i.e. 10 GB it give not enough memory error, so i made a loop that sends data in small amounts, but this give me a larger file size with repeated data at end of the file.
Ok I know this question has been asked to death but I still have not seen a good answer. I have created an application in VS2010 using VB.NET. In my application I have an error log that is an XML file located in the Public gstLocalErrorLogLocation As String = Application.StartupPath & "ErrorLog"that gets written to in the event of an error so I can trouble shoot application easier. My application also downloads files from our FTP site and puts the files in Public gstLocalDownloadLocation As String = Application.StartupPath & "download"So I have files that get read and written to as well and created and deleted all in the Application.StartupPath which is either "c:Program Files(Application Directory)(Some Directory)(Some File)" or "c:Program Files (x86)(Application Directory)(Some Directory)(Some File)" depending on 32bit or 64bit Windows 7.
After creating the setup I install it on my test machine that have both Windows 7 32bit and 64bit.Everything in the application works great till I have to write to, delete or creat a file in those directories above. I know it is an access issue and the UAC. This will get installed on numerous systems so the options I have seen to change file or folder permission on the computers manually is not an option. What has to happen is after I install the application it just works like when you install it on XP. Some post have suggested that you us a user with administrator privilages or group which is all fine and dandy but the user I have used to test the application has all of that.
So what I am asking is how do you create an application with VS2010 in VB.NET that after creating a setup package and installing on Windows 7 will just work with out "Access to the path c:Program Files(Application Directory)(Some Directory)(Some File) is denied." If I have to install this on 100 Windows 7 computers it has to be a concreate no manually doing anything just install and work like when we installed on XP.
VB 2005 Express Visual BasicI want to move (part of) projects to different projects/ computer.I used File - export template- and was able to save templates of whole project or item(s).They saved nicely in a subdirectory called "templates" as zip files. How do I import to 1/ other project on same pc?2/ To a different computer?I tried copy zip files into corresponding folder on new system. I need to download files from internet without using FTP, here's my idea:To check version of the program and also download updates. So firstly, when the user enters the splash screen there is a timer which will check updates (downloadTimer) so then downloadTimer starts to download this txt file http://localhost/version.txt and then when its downloaded (and replaced the old one that was on the computer already) and then after that, read the file. If the version.txt contains version 1.0 then pass the check and splash screen closes, main form opens, else then msgbox ("Please Wait!" & vbcrlf & "Downloading updates") and then download updates with the same way from downloading version.txtOh! and also when the file is downloaded (version.txt) save it to "c:programMyApplicationversion" downloading the file without using FTP (if there isn't any other way i could use FTP).File reading could be made with an IO.FileStream thingy. So how do i do the download part?
I am making a program that gets files and folders off the internet.I want to make a window simular to a windows explorer window only these would get the files online. My problem is href tags for each one of the nodes and then get the files into the listview control. [code] I can get one node but after that I can't figure out how to get the other nodes to work.
Developing an installer for an application, that runs based on parameters set in an XML file.
The initial install of the XML is in a template style (generic time for running app, generic settings), but via the Forms, I want to be able to have the user modify some of those parameters -say choosing time for the app to run- and then have the form write (Replace really) that data in the XML file.
Looking for some ideas as to how to approach this, as soon as I can catch on I will be able to do the rest on my own.
trying to write my own little disk cleanup utility (for a client) Can clean out windows/temp folder okay, but when it finds a file locked by a process it crashes - I have found out how to use error handlers etc to control the error but how can I unlock(?) the files in use before I try to delete them2) How can I clear cookes, history, temp internet files etc from within vb?
