VS 2008 32-bit UserControl In HTML Page Does Not Load On 64-bit Workstation

I built a specialized userControl using VB2008 (on XP 32-bit) to embed in HTML (not ASP!) and compiled it, pointing to x86 CPUs. I added the necessary keys to the registry (see attachment) to declare a classId in a HTML 'object' tag. This scheme works OK on all 32-bit OS I could put my hands on, but fails to load on 64-bit: I could test only on XP and Win 2003. No error message and Fiddler does not even know something happened... I installed VS2008 on the XP 64-bit machine and ported the code to a fresh userControl (to check the code). I got the userControl running on this workstation without any trouble. I copied this new DLL on another workstation and added the necessary keys to the register, but to no avail. I checked the registry and the 'Wow64' keys are there allright. As a check (and to provide you with a 'working' example), I:
- built a very simple userControl on the 32-bit environment (label, textbox and button to display the text in a mMessage box),
- on the 32-bit workstation:

I need to rewrite a number of ActiveX controls as VB.Net UserControls to embed into HTML pages. I have been trying to get a simple example working for the past 2 days with no luck. The control appears to display as a multiline textbox when the the HTML page is rendered in IE7.
I'm using VS 2008, .Net Framework 3.5, VB.Net

I just discovered the joys of UserControl's and I was wondering if it is possible to populate the usercontrol with data from a database in the UserControl's Form.Load event instead of the form the userControl is placed on. I feel it would make using the control a lot easier if it just populated itself without anymore code.I tried it with a ListView but it gave me a bunch of errors, so I didn't know if it had to be done a certain way or if it was just one of those things that doesn't work no matter what.

I created a simple dll in VB2008 on my development workstation (uses a GUID and Implements an Interface,It is a basic "Hello World" & someInputValue. I reference this dll in a MS Access code module and works fine on dev machine. I run Debug.Print testDll.HelloWorld("xyz") and I get I then copy the mdb and dll, tlb files to the remote workstation (where I am also running all versions of the .Net framework) and try this on the remote workstation -- Everything compiles fine within the Access code module on the remote workstation, but I get an error message that the ActiveX control cannot be created when I try to run the procedure. I tried to register the dll regsvr32.exe "C:myDirmyTestDll.dll"and get the message that the dll is loaded but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. This file cannot be registered. I know that I have tested other custom dlls on this remote workstation before, and everything worked fine.

First off...I am as green as it gets with VB. I have created an app that will load an image file(yourimage.jpg), preview it, strip the extension (yourimage), upload to server via FTP as (yourimage.jpg)and send an email with the link to it ( url/yourimage.html) . What I really need now is to be able to enter the code in VB to actually create the HTML page with the name as the link.The HTML page needs to load the image and have a form below it. I have a active form already online that uses e-forms to send responses back to me.

Does anyone know why a Page_Load would be called twice on a page when requesting an aspx page?I am using .Net 2.0 with the new .net 1.1 compilation model installed. Whenever I request a page, the Page_Load on the aspx page appears to be called twice, so does the Page_Load on and user controls added to that page.

After the client finishes testing, they go to the results page and then my program returns them back to the secondary page.If they re-enter the testing page again, for a second go-around, with out completely leaving the program as I have been doing since I was tweaking the code after each run, the repetition counter is not resting back to Zero. It�s still retains the information from the previous testing phase.
Example:The client chooses how many testing cycles they want to go through, from 1 to the total amount available to them to test. Right now its only 5.When they first start testing, it starts at �1 of 5�, then progresses at one increment for each drug they test on. Once they reach 5 and answer their final question, the program then goes to the results page and then to back the secondary page. If they choose to re-enter the testing page without totally leaving the program, the testing page counter sits at �5 of 5�. Shouldn�t the page be resetting the variables each time it loads?

I've created a usercontrol in VB that handles paging more efficiently than the DataPager (at least for very large datasets). I'd like to use it in a C# project, but I've been having trouble getting it to work.I've tried simply adding PagingControl.ascx to the C# project, but when I do that the markup and VB code behind don't seem to see each other. --Is this a namespace issue?I've tried adding the PagingControl.ascx to its own VB project, then adding that project to the C# project's solution, as well as a reference. --That almost works. I can register the PagingControl usercontrol in the markup. I can access the usercontrol's properties in the code behind, but any property that involves the UI of the usercontrol fails.
Its seems as if the usercontrol's form hasn't had a chance to load by the time the C# page's Page_Load event handler fires. --Maybe this is an "order of operations" problem? At what point in the C# page's lifetime should a usercontrol's form be loaded?

I have a page with three radio buttons and a calendar usercontrol. The radio buttons have autopostback and depending on which one you click it should change the calendar availabilities based on the selected index.The problem is that the page load of the calendar is executing first before the selected index change (where I am setting the needed id).

Is it better to perform data access operations on the page and then populate the properties of each usercontrol with the retrieved data. Is it better if each UC calls the business layer and pulls its own data independently without having to depend on the page.Existing Conditions:
1. Any information (Querystring, URL, etc) that the page would use for data access is also available to the individual UC's
2. Both solutions utilize caching.
My coworker insists that the first option is better since Data access only happens once on the page. The second option seems more logical to me since it will allow me to place the UC on another page without the need for any additional wiring on the page itself. The page and the UC are truly decoupled.

I have made many web browsers that just navigate to a web page, I don't have any buttons or any thing like that as it is controlled via other software using shortcut keys etc.I have created a button in my other software that sends the keys strokes "Control" and "H" I can get this to navigate to a webpage by manually typing i the same page that it navigates to when the form loads, but this mean I have to type the address in twice for each browser I make. I first type the url for the browser to navigate to in the properties section in VB and this is nice and quick to type in each webpage and build quickly build a new browser for it. Currently I have to repeat that url in the browser_homebutton Private Sub, what I want to happen in the below Private Sub is that it navigates to what ever address is typed in the "URL" cell in properties of the browser. What should my "Then" statement say? [code]

I would like some code to execute at the "preload" stage of my usercontrol's lifecycle. However the preload event is only available on the Page object. So, I added the following method to my usercontrol:
Private Sub Page_PreLoad(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Page.PreLoad
However, I know get the compile error: "Handles clause requires a WithEvents variable defined in the containing type or one of its base types".
As the Page property is inherited from UserControl I don't see how this can easily be done.

I have an asp.net website that is using update panels on the page that i cant get to reload from the server. I have this for the disable page cache on the master page.

When I click the browser back button to go back to the page it says the page has expired. the other pages on my web site work and call the page load, the only solution i found but cant use is to wrp the whole page in an update panel, but i cant do this becuase i have a report viewer on the page that does not work with ajax.

I am trying to deploy an application that uses SMO on a workstation without SQL Server installed on it. The instance the app is connecting to is SQL Server 2008. The application is failing with:Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication, Version 10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=89845cdc8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
The assembly in question is in the same path as my application as well as system32. I am running this on a Windows 7 64 bit box. I have run SQL Native Client, CLR, and SMO MSIs from the 2008 SMO redist download page.This app worked fine when connecting to SQL Server 2005.

I have a page to which i send some variables with the GET method. In my VB back-end i get those variables using Page.Request.QueryString("<name>")If i then use the IsNumeric method to make shure it is an numeric string i get True back as value.
When i then try to transform the string to an Integer using val, cìnt, Integer.Parse or cType I get an error saying that my string could not be converted to a integer.So i made an error page which gives me all the info i need to deal with the problem (view below) Exception Message: Conversion from string "" to type 'Integer' is not valid.

IsNumeric confirms that it is a numeric string and that it should be convertable to an Integer. So why won't it work. I don't think that my code should provide any extra information because it only gets the querystrings, uses IsNumeric and then tries to convert them.

When I click in any button in the same page, the entire page reload and it display 8 items in the RadioButtonList, If I click for the second time I get 12 items in the RBL...How can I prevent the page to reload if I click in this button. ?
