My application was built with VB.NET application. It's EXE application. It's already running well on dozens of Windows host (as independent app - without development env). Now I try to run it on Windows 2008 server (as independent app), but the form does not displayed. Nothing is displayed. When I debug, I see that it's running all "form_load" subroutine, but then nothing is displayed. It works fine on many other Windows machine. What can be the reason? What should I check?
altering the HTML that is displayed by my VB.net application using GeckoFX. What I would like to do restrict certain words/names/attributes from showing in the browser.
I've created a setup and deployment project for my vb.net application using the Visual Studio 2010 wizard. I also added the eula.rtf file to the setup project and set it to install to the user's application folder. I then added a license agreement UI dialog in the setup project and pointed the licenseFile to eula.rtf. However, when testing the resulting setup.msi, the UI License Agreement dialog appears but no text is displayed inside the box where the eula should appear. I tried re-naming the eula and tried to change the encoding of the file but without success. Am I missing something? What should I do to make it work?
I have designed a windows form(to act as a messagebox) with Label and OK, Cancel buttons. I'm on form1 and call this messagebox form in the closing event. If I debug the showdialog of the messagebox form the custom text is displayed on the Label, however if the application is minimized and when i right click on the application in taskbar and select close window then the messagebox form is poped up however the label doesn't show the custom text.
When a user clicks the + button on the binding navigator, I want to set the displayed item of acombobox to the value displayed in a label. The combobox is bound to a field in the table. I found some great code on capturing webcam images but the problem is the client PC will need to initiate the communication to this server (click Connect to server IP). This is like 2 way communication. How can i do something like this (door Kiosk system):when a visitor press a button on the LCD that come along a web cam (this will be the server), it will send the signal the client PC that is installed with the application i've created (window form) and pop up the images to the client PC (more like a 1 way communication). This image is captured through the web cam on the server to capture the visotor's image waiting outside of the door. How to do this?I'm really stuck as i'm not familiar with window API programming yet.
1) how to do the mentioned 1 way communication? possible in .NET?
2) how to make my application to be at the tray icon just next to the time displayed on the right bottom corner of the task bar? When a visitor press a button o the server, it will pop up a window form on the client PC showing the image captured via the server's webcam outside of the door.
I had a default Icon I set for my windows form app in the properties section of the form. Since then I have changed to Icon. However, on the Task Bar at the bottom of the screen, if there is more than one form opened and Windows groups them together it displays the old icon image next to the group name. How do I change this to display the new icon image? If I go into the Application settings in the properties of my windows form, it has Icon: of the new icon file. I have changed it here and on the forms themselves. Still, the old icon shows up!
i have three text boxes that the user will input numerical data into to determine the area of an object. i need the result of my calculation to be displayed in a label but i cant figure it out.
I have got a serious problem and I cant solve it. Images on my form are not displayed during debugging. When I build the application, there is no problem. But in debug mode no images are displayed. What can I do about it?
How to Resolve following Error in .netNon-modal forms cannot be displayed in this host application from an ActiveX DLL, ActiveX Control, or Property Page.
How come when I design a form it isn't displayed properly on certain computers in the fact that buttons near the bottom go of the bottom of the window. I beleive this only happens with Windows XP however it might be due to screen resolution, I haven't troubleshooted it much.
I am working on a game launcher, and I need to display a "Splash screen" until the main game has started. For this, I need to know whether or not the Process has a Main window that is fully loaded and displayed. Now I noticed the main window handle is 0 when there is none, so I tried to use that:[code]But the handle never becomes nonzero. I tried to use the title but to no avail.I do not want to go into "Thread.wait()" since then the splash would remain even if the game is already launched.
I'm working on building my own UserControl that will display thumbnails. I've got the collection and the items that the collection holds working ok, and I've got a handle on how I'm going to display the information on the face of the UserControl. However, my problem is how to fire the Method that displays the thumbnail on the face of the UserControl when a new Item is added to the Collection?
I dipped my toe in the world of user controls as needed to double buffer a panel control and now want to create a picturebox control with a thicker border. Writing a dice based game, the dice represented by pictureboxes when clicked are highlighted and their border style changes FROM BorderStyle.none TO BorderStyle.FixedSingle, which is where I want to increase the thickness of the border. My user control code increases the border thickness using the code below:-
I'm trying to do this division and the result to be displayed on a eight decimal number.
Dim r1 As Integer Dim r2 As Double r1 = Val(TextBox16.Text) r2 = r1 / 60 TextBox18.Text = FormatNumber(r2, 8)
The value or R1 on this case is 273.4 but it varies according with the result obtained so I can not allocate a constant number to r1. The problem is the result that I am getting is 4,55000000 instead of 4.5566666
On each of my form I have put an 'Exit' button. When user clicks it, another form is displayed (I don't want to use 'MessageBox') asking user whether he really wants to quit. If user clicks yes the form closes. If user clicks no, form is redisplayed.
However, out of 4 forms only one form refuses to redisplay. The code is exactly same on all forms. I have included 2 Express 2008 projects showing one form each in the zip file apps-ssk.zip
is it possible to make one application send a task to another application and recieve the result from that secondary app?i made a text editor program and i added a scan feature and i made another app that has ocr capabilities. The scanner ability is in my text editor program, the ocr program doesnt scan you have to input an image into it and it will give text result a few seconds later.the prob is alot of times the ocr code uses sooo much memory and crashes when its incorporated with my text editor, but individually each application works fine and doesnt take too much memory. Memory wont be even an issue if the ocr program is standalone so that when it is done decoding image the application can be made to exit. now here is the question, how do i make my text editor send the image to the ocr program and how do i make my ocr program send the text back to my text editor? is it possible? i mean the only way i know off is creating temp files in a certain folder and having a timer on each program that keeps waiting for temp files. That just seems like pretty lame coding to me i was wondering if there's a better way?
I am new to working with SQL databases (and databases in general) so I do not have a lot of experience with how queries work and how I can practice them. When I was first learning xml and XPath, I found XPath Visualizer incredibly helpful after someone on stack overflow mentioned it to me.Due to this, I am wondering if a similar tool exists for SQL databases?Basically a tool that will allow me to connect to a database, enter queries and see somehow what the results would be like.
I have looked online a bit, however I have found relatively few options in terms of any utility that would do what I want, and that looks reliable.I will ultimately be writing an application to interact with an SQL 2008 server in vb.net, however for now I am just experimenting so I will know what I am doing when I actually want to create my application. So far I have managed to connect to the database using an OLE DB connection, but I am now looking for a way to experiement with queries without just querying and figuring out a way to interpret the results in my program. Basically I want to be able to remove the programming aspect of things so I can experiment with queries without needing to question anything in my code that is unrelated to the specific query.
Is it possible to change the application version without publishing the application? Because I'm going to make an auto updater which needs some version information to work, but I don't want to have an installer.
I have a main window with a datagrid in the upper half and a tabcontrol in the lower half. The datagrid contains a list of companies. One of the tabs of the lower tabcontrol contains the information about contact persons corresponding to the company selected in the upper datagrid.
When I run the application everything works without errors. The Sap number of the selected company is passed to the function UpdateContactsXCompanyDatagrid correctly. The Me.dgContactsXCompanyList.DataContext seems to be assigned, but the contact persons' datagrid is EMPTY. No row is diplayed.
In vb.net (2008), I want to be able to control when a contextMenuStrip (context menu) is displayed. I don't want it to always appear when the right mouse button is clicked...only when certain criteria within my program are met. I figure I would use addHandler but I'm not exactly clear on how to completely control the opening of the contextMenuStrip. I know I would issue a call to the "open" method to render the contextMenuStrip. However, I am unclear as to how to completely take over control of when to render the contextMenuStrip.
I am able to get the pnode added to the TreeView and all the node breakpoints are hit. The problem is that in the TreeView, I am only able to see the parent view arrow, the rest of the name, image, etc. are not getting displayed. It is like this: How can I fix this?

I'm writing a program for my job in which we are keeping track of employees usage of food at work. The form in question interacts with an access database to a binded control with labels and textboxes. This form I'm working on is the user view which doesn't allow them to input their username, I have the user name saved to a variable but it will not display when I the add a new record. I tried many things but I'm just getting frustrated.
Is there away to add data to a row that is not displayed on the screen in a textbox for the user to see? There are 3 different "cells" (textboxes) I want to be filled in by other code without the users knowledge.
I'm currently using MSAccess 2010 and Visual Studio.net 2010
