i've got a problem here whereby my ctype doesn't work.firstly, to replicate my case briefly, i've created an extension of control class
[code]...
father.getheight 'compiler writes: Panel class doesn't support getheight, but I've already converted it to a Control with CType!end sub of course if i dim father as Control it works perfectly, but in my case father may be other objects as well that aren't controls so I had to dim father as a general object, is there a fix so i could properly convert father into a Control object?
I have a problem with a global variable in VB.Net.In one sub (triggered by a button) I create objects and store them into a global variable (an array). After that I create a table (DataGrid). With a second button another sub is triggered and tries to use the array from the global variable, but it seems to be empty. Here is the code:
<script runat="server"> Dim array_datensatz(12) As Datensatz Sub submit1_click(ByVal Sender As Object, ByVal E As EventArgs)[code].....
The code below works for the class that I hard coded "XCCustomers" in my RetrieveIDandName method where I use CType. However, I would like to be able to pass in various classes and property names to get the integer and string LIST returned. For example, in my code below, I would like to also pass in "XCEmployees" to my RetrieveIDandName method. I feel so close... I was hoping someone knew how to use CType where I can pass in the class name as a string variable.
Note, all the other examples I have seen and tried fail because we are using Option Strict On which disallows late binding. That is why I need to use CType.I also studied the "Activator.CreateInstance" code examples to try to get the class reference instance by string name but I was unable to get CType to work with that. When I use obj.GetType.Name or obj.GetType.FullName in place of the "XCCustomers" in CType(obj, XCCustomers)(i)I get the error "Type 'obj.GetType.Name' is not defined" or "Type 'obj.GetType.FullName' is not defined"
I need to programmaticlly check one RadioButton1 in GroupBox1 in my Form. The name of RadioButton and his parent GroupBox is received from global variable 'names'.How to change GrpBx1 to names(0)?
VB.Net Dim names as String() 'GrpBx1,RadioButton1 'WORKING but not exactly what I wanna while it's fixed to only one GroupBox: CType(Me.GrpBx1.Controls(names(1)), RadioButton).Checked = True
[Code] this code iterates through 5 text boxes to check that the value entered is numeric and also that there are no blank spaces. How would i put this into .net as it doesn't seem possible to hold the text boxes in array.
Private Declare Function Beep Lib "kernel32" (ByVal dwFreq As Long, ByVal dwDuration As Long) As Long I've used that API in both vb.net and vb6, but in vb.net doesnt work. Why?
When I press F7, nothing happens. I got the Virtual Key Codes from here.
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load If GetAsyncKeyState(76) Then MsgBox("") ElseIf GetAsyncKeyState(77) Then
I am trying to take a look at the cache of UT2004 through my application since the information holder contains some bugs sometimes and I know how to fix them.
vb.net Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim totalText As String =
<DllImport("kernel32.dll", SetLastError:=True)> _ Public Function ReadProcessMemory( _ ByVal hProcess As IntPtr, _ ByVal lpBaseAddress As IntPtr, _ <Out()> ByVal lpBuffer() As Byte, _ ByVal dwSize As Integer, _
I did a test using AxShockwaveFlash1, and while I set the WMode to Transparent, and tested the form, the transparency didn't work! How am I supposed to make it transparent?
I have a vb.net project that has 2 exe's that get built as well as the installer. The two exe's share a bunch of common files. I do not want to have two copies of the common files or mess around with having build events that copy things around (if possible).
My method was to create two projects in the same folder and have them point to the files they needed. This appeared to work until I tried to compile both apps at which point I get an error in a file called Application. Designer.vb. It seems that project files create this file in their folder and when I have two solutions in the same folder they conflict. So my next effort was to create the second project in it's own folder and just add the items as needed. The problem here is that VS2010 doesn't hold a link to a file in a different folder it copies the file to the new project folder. What is the vs2010 way to get this done?
I've been working with Regex and I've run into something that doesn't make sense to me; I either misunderstood how the Multiline option works, I'm not using it right, or it really just doesn't work like it's supposed to. This is a little test I made:
i try to resize the picturebox according to the image size.for example if the image width is more than 500 then change the sizemode to stretch and then resize the width to 500.i am using a timer for doing this but i think it's unnecessary and stupid. and also it doesn't work well.
i have a simple code that send an e-mail, when i try it running in debug mode it works fine, after compile, i run the exe but the same code doesn't work any more..
i have a table layout panel with a background image. in the table there is some panels with transparent back colours. the image shows up in vb designer but when i execute it, it is invisible.
EDIT I accidentaly found a walk around to this problem... Adding the following line in the begining of the function solved the problem for some reason.remoteIPAdress = remoteIPAdress & "END"
I have a school assignment where I am supposed to build a simple TCP/IP messenger in Visual Basic. The problem is that when the client sends his IP in a request I've built ("LetMeInXXX.XXX.XXX.XXX"), even if the server receives the request as it should, it parses it completely wrong..
I know about the existence of System.Nullable(Of T) Structure.I am trying to write a class to replace it: The Nullable(Of T) Class [VB code below]. But when I tested the Nullable(Of T) Class (See NullableOfTClassTest Class, Method Main) an exception occurs when using the CType operator to convert from System.Int32.Why does this happen at runtime, why isn't my Ctype operator method being called?
NOTE: code below reordered and reduced in order to hilite problem.
Namespace MyNamespace Public NotInheritable Class NullableOfTClassTest Private Sub New() End Sub
How do i make a variable that can hold more than 1 piece of data. I wan't a variable that can keep 4 number in it. When i count them in using a for loop the only thing i have after it is finished is the last number counted in by the for loop.
I have an application that requires data be entered, and after entering, a button is clicked to process that data. Clicking the button works just as it should--the data is processed properly. In constructing a test module, I provide a set of data values, followed by:
btnWhatever.PerformClick()
Nothing happens. I have used this syntax for years, and it has always worked flawlessly. I have triple checked everything else and isolated the problem to the failure of the PerformClick(). The PerformClick() is in a test subroutine that does nothing but fill textboxes and labels with default data, then calls the PerformClick() on the button to begin processing. Again, the button works fine, the data is entered as it should be, but the PerformClick() does not fire the click event.
