VS 2008 - Calculating Percentages Of People Passing Exam

I am trying to make a program that can calculate the percentage of people passing an exam. There are buttons for each letter grade, and working label counters for each time you press a button. Each button looks like this, except replace the letter with the appropriate one.

My problem is that the percent does not equal what I get when I put the exact same numbers into a calculator.

I have been able to do the exercise's in the first 2 chapters and half the exercise's in the third chapter of the text book (programming in visual basic 2008, Julia Case Bradley & Anita C. Millspaugh). but this one is making my head want to explode. please point me in the right direction with this.
Heres the problem. The company has instituted a bonus program to give its employees an incentive to sell more. For every dollar the store makes in a four-week period, the employees receive 2 percent of sales. The amount of bonus each employee receives is based upon the percentage of hours he or she worked during the bonus period (a total of 160 hours). The Calculate button will determine the bonus earned by this employee, and the Clear button will clear only the name, hours-worked, and bonus amount fields. A Print button allows the user to print the form. Do not allow missing or bad input data to cancel the program; instead display a message to the user.
Here's my code so far. its giving me the wrong results. i have tried many different ways,(hence the commented code) but I just dont know where im going wrong.

First off, this is not for a class. Although I *AM* taking VB classes, I wanted to do something on my own that would help me learn. I find that the examples and assignments in class, are okay, but I would like to do something that I could apply in real life, perhaps apply it to my own work and master many techniques. So this could actually become my own final exam
That being said, I have searched and read all the posts on quizzes and tests and they are usually asking for code answers. No from the beginning development and planning. I am sure eventually, I might ask some code questions, but I would like to start at the beginning and analyze, develop the algorithm/ flow chart, and desk-check first.

The application I want to make is what I would call quite simple, you will have two text boxes where you enter in two team names.
i.e.
Team 1 v Team 2
Then below a little search button. And then when you click the button it will show a percentage of whom is most likely to win. Now I know that I would have to most likely enter something like
Team 1 v Team 2 WIN Team 1
Team 1 v Team 3 LOSS Team 1
Team 1 v Team 4 WIN Team 1
In some kind of script for this to work so when you search for
TEAM 1 v Team 2 it will show WIN Team 1

What is the proper way of working with percentages and DataGridView and dividing by zero..In my code I am attempting to divide two numbers, sometimes one of the numbers is zero..Then I need to add a column to my datagrid, I think i need it to be decimal? So i can sort it later. I had it as a string and everything worked fine excpet i couldnt sort properly.[code]If I change column to Double it handles it fine, then i am not sure how to read the value as a percentage?

I'm designing a sign-in program that will give kids points if they invite people to come to the weekly events, and if those guests come then the kids who invited them will get extra points every time a guest of their's signs in. I am just wondering how to encrypt my program so people can't hack it. I have a program that has a spot where you can type in problems with the program and it will email it to me. But, when I release my program people hack my email and password that is used to send the problems.

I've got an app that manages estimates on jobs. When an estimate is loaded an e-mail has to go out to a list of people (different list for each job) that they should log in and approve the estimate. Least visible to the user making the estimate. Our should I research SQL mail and see if the sql box can handle it without the app user even knowing it?

I want to make a program that will track Do Not Rent (DNR) People.I'm a intremediate vb6 programmer and have not coded in a long time.I do have and wanting to do this on VS2008 professional in VB2008.I did a simular program from a vb6 book about 12 years ago. it was a address book that i changed a little to add some things I needed it to keep track of, and it saved everything in a text file.I want to know what the pros and cons are for using a text file? xml file? or a data base?the data i be keeping track of will be vital statistics as name, state id number, id type, ect. and a picture of the id from a scanner or import from a .png, .jpg, or tiff image.If i use a data base file either Access 2007, MySQL, or SQL 2005/2008 file, do i need to have Office, MySQL, SQL 2005/2008 programs installed on the the computer im doing the programming on? do i need to have the above programs installed on the target computer?i do not think a txt file will work for me because of the picture i want to keep with the data not seperatly. So to make it a little more clear I want to be able to add, append/update, not to be able to delete a record, and be able to search the file for a record.I want to be able to navigate the records or file with first, previous, next, and last. each record will be showed seperatly.I would like to have a STATUS (lol thingy) that only my wife or I can change but let my employees be able to enter the rest of the information on there own. the STATUS Levels will be like 1st warning, 2nd warning, 3rd warning, DNR, and Rentable at our discression. I want it to only allow changes to status if they have the proper password. so i do not know if this also elimates txt files or xml files as an option.and when the wife, my employees or I make an entry I wanted it to add the time and date with the comments we entered in with the initials of the person whom entered the data. so i was thinking i will need to have security levels in my program and give each person a password so the program can fill out most small data itself.
if i do decide to use a database file to store the data, picture, and employee information can it be done with 1 table, or should i try to seperate the data in seperate tables? should i use one to one or one to many? I do not think one to many would be the best solution? it been like 12 years since I did any database programming in school and it was dBase3. If u think it be best to use multiple tables could u give me an example as to how to seperate the data.The client info would be like a address book with a picture and a comment box that will automatically add a date/timestamp and the users initials with a space between every updated or appended entry., and the employees would have there login in name and password, and initials.I was thinking of making a wizard to enter the data in for both employees and the DNR's as for people changing the date on the computer and entering info so to make it look they entered data on an earlier date I was thinking of having it log onto the internet time server and setting the date/time of the computer in the background as it loads up.

I have many textboxes that I need to have display percentages. I have used a masked textbox extender and the percentages display fine. using 99.99% as a mask and number as the mask type.Now my problem is that i want it to be converted to a decimal when i save it to the database e.g 50% saves as 0.5 and then when it comes back from the database it must display as 50% again. This is needed for numerous calculations. IS there a way to do this?

I got 2 dtpDateTimePicker1 and dtpDateTimePicker2 with txtStart.Text and txtend.text there showing the ("en-US") "MM . dd. yyyy" and i get the date difference , works fine but i want to use the German ("de-DE") When i chance the format to dtpDateTimePicker2.CustomFormat = "dd / MM / yyyy". its not calculating the days right

Let's say I have two date values, date1 and date2. date1 stores the date today, and date2 is the result when I subtract 7 days from the date today. Is there any function in VB that makes me get the exact date of the day after I subtract 7 days from it? (ex: if today is 1/22, the output once I subtract 7 days from the date today would be 1/15)

I am making a small tool that require some calculation. I am using hashtable to store values that I need to calculate. This tool continuously extract data on specific time interval(30 seconds) from webpage and add those data into the hashtable. Now the problem is I need to store the previous extraction data and when new extraction occurs, I need to deduct the previous data from new data.Here is the process I am currently following:

MyTable.Add("Data2","100")

On first run it shows the result of Data3 = 100 which is currect. But on second run I need to redefine the value of Data2 = Data1 . So I need a result of Data3 = 0 on second run. This may not be the proper way to do this sort of operation. I have also tried using listbox, listview and even textfile to store the Data2 and recall that on second run.

I have been given the prep material for my AS Level (Year 12) computer programming exam based around dice cricket. Written in VB 2008.
In the exam we are supposed to change bits based upon the scenario. The scenario and skeleton code are attached.
I have looked through the code so far and made some guesses to what I think may be on the test:

if there is anything I am missing which they think I could be asked on the test. I then have to go away and figure out how to program.
So by asking on here, I am not trying to find out coding answers - I do want to figure that out myself. I just want to see if there is anything else I possibly could be asked?

I am trying to complete a driver license exam in vb that includes a module and two forms.It says that I have to have 2 arrays to compare(correct answers and user input) in order to see if the user passed or failed. User must have >15 correct to pass.I am so confused on the arrays part and need help to get this application to work. Can someone please help me with the correct counter accumulator and comparison of the arrays? I am also supposed to declare the correct answers in the module and I have tried everything, but I keep getting errors. [code]

I get some funny display errors when I attempt to pop a fraction into a text label.[code]Do I get 33.3% here? In our project we've decided to put an exam generator using vb.net and after generate you can send it to client computer/students. *server computer/teacher will the one who will use exam generator and send it to the client computer/student*student will recieve it and then send it back again to the server computer/teacher*teachers will going to generate an exam depends on the type of exam, so i think im going to make it a wizard type environment
