Ok so i'm particularly new to this, just wondering. I have a combobox on a form, I have an array set up so the items in the combobox have values. The problem is I need to send the values from the combobox to a textbox from a different form. So basically how can I connect a combobox to multiple forms.

I currently have my ComboBoxes set up and working, but I need to expand on what I currently have in two ways.I need to be able to convert the Decimal numbers in my data column being displayed to Fractions, is there a way to do this and maintain databinding? On my program I am trying to make a ToolStripStatusLabel's text change to "connected" if connected to a network and if not connected to a network change the text to " Not Connected" then I don't know how to display a image if connected to a network or not connected. So if the computer is connected to a network I have a image that I would like to be displayed next to the ToolStripStatusLabel. And if not connected to a network, can the program display a different image? I tried this:

I have connected a form to my database, which displays info when the form loads, butttt it displays them from load, which is not what I need, can someone tell me how to clear the form upon load so that none of the textbox fierlds have data within them? Untill I request them to.

I got a DATASource connected, changed the table to details and draged it on to my form, but then it shows me the bindingnavigator at to of my form.
q1. how do i make it so every time this form opens it is like add new?
q2. how do make my own save button (don't want the binding navigator at top)
q3. in my form all my collums aper as textboxes how can i change it so there is a drop down menue that has forexaple 3 pre defined items that the user has to select on of.
Is their a way to give every client that is connected to the server an ID.

View 10 RepliesI have a tab control application, each tab loads a particular user control and each of those user controls will then add other user controls that are used amongst other the user controls. For example, I have an "ucQuotes" page and an "ucInventory" page, when the specific tab is selected, the "uc****" user control is loaded on that page, and in the case of "ucQuotes" and "ucInventory" they both use a control called "ucPartNumber"; a user control consisting of a combobox, textbox, and button. I have no issues reusing the shared user controls, in this case. My problem arises with my "ucQuickPrice" control, as it is always present at the bottom of the tab control form (separate from the tabcontrol, but on the same form), and it too uses ucPartnumber.
Here's my issue, as I type into the ucPartnumber combobox, the text I type does not appear in the combobox, it appears in the textbox of the ucPartnumber control that is being used on the tabcontrol page. There are no shared instances of ucPartNumber, nor do I have this issue between typing on one tab page and the text showing on the user control of another tab page.I tried just creating the ucPartNumber controls on the ucQuickPrice control, not adding a new instance of ucPartnumber on the .Load event, and the issue persists.
The combobox(s) in question are bound programmatically with about 40,000 items, ".datasource = dataset.tablename" not to a bindingsource. Autocomplete is set to none, I added code to utilize tool tips and the basic combobox filtering functionality. Is this a bug, or is there something I'm neglecting? I'm about 95% complete with this application, and this just happened today. I made the decision, to just reuse the ucPartNumber control on the ucQuickPrice control (originallly it's size and orientation would not fit, but I added some coding to detect what parent is adding ucPartNumber and to change its appearance accordingly). Before, I made this change, I did not have this problem. And, in trying to go back to how I had things set up before the change, the problem will not go away. if the whole control within a control verbage I used is a bit confusing, let me know and I'll try to better explain what is happening. At this point, I'm going to close and reopen vbexpress, as when I started this ordeal, vb started acting weird and wanted me to save all my work, it usually does this before locking up.

These sub programs will send the informations about other computers which is on my network to the main program. If you ask "Why do you need to get infos about other computers?" ,then let me explain. I'm using limited internet connection and I'm not the only one who's using this wireless network. If I get over the limit, I'm paying some limit-upper fee. So, I've to control others internet usage to not to get over the limit. I've just made a small download counter program for my pc, but as I said, I want to convert it to a bigger project, with network solution. I have a synchronization program that syncs my flashdrive to my home computer and (hopefully) my flashdrive to my personal folder on the school computers. What I think would be easiest, though, would be if the program was located on the flashdrive, and would simply "autorun" when I plug it in, instead of having 2 separate instances of the sync program running at school and at home.
Would it be easier (or possible) to code for that from within the program, or with the EXE file's settings?

Whn the form loads I get the data from the db and bind to the combobox. that works fine and here is the code I use in form load to cause this to happen: [code] Now if there is not an Account Type, I have a button that will pull up a small form to allow the addition of an account type. The popup form adds the data back to the database just fine, but I am now trying to get the combobox to refresh its data. So I call a public Sub that is located in the parent form to from the popup form to accomplish this task and I have walked the code and the sub is called and appears to work correctly, but the new data never appears in the combobox. Here is my public sub that i call to try and refresh the combobox on the parent form. [code] But when I go back to the parent form, the combobox is not updated with the new account. How can i get the combobox to refresh from the database with the new data?
View 4 RepliesI have been creating a call management application and I am having a problem with something that I have spent weeks on trying to get working and nothing I try is working for me. My application is an MDI application written in VB.NET 2005 Professional, using .NET Framework 2.0. It uses a back end database using Microsoft SQL Server 2005.When the MDI application launches, a form is displayed to the end user asking for phone number (MaskedTextBox) and a partner name. The partner names are within a ComboBox.
When the end user types in the phone number and selects a value from within the ComboBox, s/he clicks on the start button. This then opens a second form. The phone number from the MaskedTextBox is to default in a second MaskedTextBox (this I am able to get working without issue.) The partner name selected from the ComboBox is to default on the second ComboBox. This is the part where I have been working on it for weeks and not able to get it to function.
The second form has many ComboBoxes, all of which pull down items from a particular table within the database. Some of them are editable and some are not. The ones that are editable are also auto complete Suggest/Append on the ListItems.I wrote a sub to handle the population of these ComboBoxes and also to handle if they are editable or not. All of this is working. However, my main issue is that I can't get the value on the second form to default to what ever was selected on the first form. I do not get any errors but regardless of what I do, the second form always stays as the first item in the list regardless.
