It would be quite useful, to know if the message was accepted by the mailserver and the message was successfully sent. What I am able so far is, that I can get the SMTP-Server error code (if there was an error (StatusCode 5xx) by using the System.Net.Mail.SMTPClient Object and its SendAsync Function. There, if there was an error, I get an Exception-Object in the Callback-Event of the SMTPClient
I'm well aware that not every mailserver will tell me if the mailaccount truly exists and then reject my mail with an errorcode but instead just accept the message and then delete it. Therefore I would be grateful for another Method to check if the mail was sent (note: not read, that would be the read confirmation)
The final purpose would be: Try to send an email to a recipient using it's domains mailserver and if it fails, proceed according to the errorcode (user does not exist -> abort / mailserver did not respond -> use another mailserver if available).

I realise that I could put a try catch around a WebRequest but that seems a bit hacky to me.
EDIT: What I meant by valid internet connection is just connected to the internet

Oct 18, 2010Basically I want to have a picturebox which shows an embedded resource if not connected to the internet, and an online image if connected to the internet.I assume this can be done on the form load event, I just don't know the code for it. Basically this is the logic though:
-If 'http:/[url].... is available (therefore connected to internet)
-Picturebox1.Image = http:[url].....
-Else[code].....
How can I code that properly? Would putting it in the form load event work?

I have an array of threads 'gen' already working, calling to a method taking a single integer as a parameter (done via typecasting).Now in this thread, when the function gets processed (for each thread a roughly 500 iteration while loop) the index seems to be getting mixed up. As far as I can tell, my threads are messing with eachother and warping values. Now this is happening in locally declared variables inside this function, not global variables.It may be useful to know that I am using a WebRequest via a call to another method. Don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Mar 19, 2009I have a LOB app written in VB.NET with a WinForms front-end and SQL back-end. After many months weighing up how to get onto the Web, I decided last month to use Silverlight 2. Now, Silverlight 3 Beta is out, but there is no end-user runtime.
Does anyone know when the runtime will be available for deployment of SL 3 apps onto client sites?
My dev timeline is about 3 months: should I persist with SL 2 and then u/g to SL3, or jump straight in to SL3?

Aug 31, 2010I tried to install Microsoft Silverlight 2 but fail - fatal operation however I managed to install Silverlight 3 for Visual Studio 2008. Do you think I need to install Silverlight 2 as well because it clearly to see that Silverlight 3 is a latest version. Please response. Secondly for Visual Studio 2010 I managed to install very easily with Silverlight 4. There is no problem at all. I think, I more likely in VS 2010 Professional. But I have to keep this together (VS 2008 and VS 2010) because I still need to develop certain program. Can I maintain both of this version together?

Jul 27, 2009I'm planning to make multiple projects, which could connect (or comminicate) together. It's like a designing Network Program. There'll be a main program and some sub programs. These sub programs will send the informations about other computers which is on my network to the main program. If you ask "Why do you need to get infos about other computers?" ,then let me explain. I'm using limited internet connection and I'm not the only one who's using this wireless network. If I get over the limit, I'm paying some limit-upper fee. So, I've to control others internet usage to not to get over the limit. I've just made a small download counter program for my pc, but as I said, I want to convert it to a bigger project, with network solution. Could anyone refer me any resource, or show me any starting point?

May 18, 2010I'm not sure if this would be this right place to post this, or even if I should go about trying to do it through my program itself or through the computer's settings on the final EXE file, but anyways, here goes.
I have a synchronization program that syncs my flashdrive to my home computer and (hopefully) my flashdrive to my personal folder on the school computers. What I think would be easiest, though, would be if the program was located on the flashdrive, and would simply "autorun" when I plug it in, instead of having 2 separate instances of the sync program running at school and at home.
Would it be easier (or possible) to code for that from within the program, or with the EXE file's settings?
