I have a datetimepicker and combobox on my form. If a user does not change the date on dtpicker or does not change text on combo box, these controls return null value, and the save operation fails. The controls are bound to data in a database.

In order for it to roll up, I have to change my focus to a different area.Is there anyway to make it rollup when a day is clicked? It feels awkward the way it is now.

I have a Datetime Picker on a form.
When I use dtArrival.value for instance, it gives me the date in the format "24/04/2010 10:54 PM"
Is there a way that I can grab the value in the format "YY/MM/DD" e.g the value would return "10/04/24"?
Also whats the easiest way to calculate the number of days between two datetime pickers on the same form? I've tried to do it and it's just a mess.

I'm trying to create a Windows form application which uses a few data grid views to pull data back from a SQL Server database. I've managed to get the data back okay from the tables but what I want to do is filter that data dynamically based on values input by the user from a combo box and a date time picker. Each of the data grids display production data for a machine but the combo box and date time picker will allow the data to be filtered by shift and date respectively - how to I pass the values of these to the SQL query returning the data?

I am having trouble setting a datetime column in a datarow to null or MinValue and updating the database row using a DataAdapter update command.In one scenario, if the value in a text box is not a valid data, I set the value in the datarow = DateTime.MinValue. The value returned by MinValue is #12:00:00 AM#. An error is thrown on the Update command "SqlDateTime overflow.Must be between 1/1/1753 12:00:00 AM and 12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM."
In another scenario, an error is not thrown but the DateTime value on the row is not changed.The database column allows nulls and I can set the value to null using a SQL update command.
I'm pulling in a datarow with a datatime that may already have a value. This is NOT being loaded in to a date picker. I have a date time picker bould to a Nullable Datetime field in a sql server datatable. The ShowCheckBox option is set to true. If the user unchecks the checkbox on the datetimepicker I would like to the field to be set back to null in the DataTable. I am currently using a sql data reader (in vb.net) to extract an article object via a stored proc from a SQL Server 2008 database. Part of this object includes the two properties shown below:
theArticle.Truthfulness = ((myReader.GetInt32(myReader.GetOrdinal("Truthfulness"))))
theArticle.Relevance = ((myReader.GetInt32(myReader.GetOrdinal("Relevance"))))
My problem is that the Truthfulness and Relevance may return a null value and this is causing the function to fall over.I think I understand why. I am asking for an integer value (getin32) and because null is returned it fails.How do I accommodate the null value from the database so it does not fall over?
