I have a project that was designed on a 1024x768 resolution full screen and
if I remember right, I tested it out on a widescreen a month ago and it displayed fine.Now, I ran the program and it only displays like a full screen on my widescreen monitor (which is set at 1280x768).I'm not really clear on the full/widescreen thing and how it applied to vb.net to begin with.
I have been working on an app that was basically a vb6 app but had to be changed and I did it all using VB 2008. works well, great. One of the problems that I had was to work on different groupboxes or frames. Since they are layered on top of each other, working on one frame would mess up the others. Eventually it all went okay. but now if i want to add another item in the menu and hence add another groupbox (or frame) in the same app - it would definitely be a nightmare.

i have datagridview populated with stock code, name and description.And i have docked my datagridview to the bottom. so whenever the form is resized, the bottom section will be occupied completely with the datagridview.But i want to display one extra empty column and multiple empty rows to completely fill in the datagridview.The extra empty column width will be adjusted to the right end side of datagridview.And the no of empty rows will be generated based on how many is required to fill up to the bottomSo that i can create datagridview with full column and row even though some columns or rows are empty.

Just a quick questio with what I'm sure will recieve an incredibly simple answer.Problem: After saving and restarting Vb the project I am working on seems to lose design view. In the 'view' drop down menu where you would see 'code menu f7' 'design view shift + f7' I only see the code view and not the design view. The tab for my project which would normally say form1.vb (design) now only says form1.vb. The coresponding window for that tab does not show the GUI I had created just a blank white page.

Currently my data is shown nicely at data grid view, and I successfully added filter: itemDataView.RowFilter = "item_id LIKE '" & Me.txtItem_ID.Text & while itemDataView is my dataview, and txtItem_ID is a text box to allow my users entering filter parameter.
This code runs nicely, but the problem occurs when a user enter special character(s) like an apostrophe (single quote " ' ") or an opening square bracket " [ ". Is there any way so that I can escape this characters? Currently I'm replacing each one of them using text.Replace()

I have created a list view and was trying to place checkboxes down the left hand side then place pre determined text beside them but i get the word "Default" above the checkboxes like in this screencap:[URL}..allso i was wondering if there was a way to populate the list view with data like you can with the combo boxes?

I posted in the asp section but we couldn't get it figured out there so im reverting back to vb so looking for some help.I have a vb.net app I created and I have an internet browser embedded in it calling an asp page. the asp page is just a simple file that searches an access database. I used the asp page because I wanted to display the results with graphics and tables so I used html for that.Everything technically works except I am running it on a local intranet and the asp file is located on a server that is REALLY slow so it is taking 20-30 seconds to get my results. so, my question is, Are there any other options or ways I can do the search within the vb app itself so everything stays local and I don't have any speed issues. I can't install IIS on the local computer because the IT department is strict unfortunately.I don't HAVE to use "html" but I would like it to look nice with graphics and html was the only way I knew how to do that.
View 6 RepliesI often get this problem. I open a form in design mode and the form is not in view and scrollers can't get to it. Sometimes it's cut in half and the other half is outside the window but there's no way to move the form inside the design space to see the form in full. Sounds like a lame problem but I can't find a way to properly open the form

Design view shows an error message with projects that I open and with new projects. I can create or edit a project using code and properties. I just can't see anything but the error message in design. I can double click a label or text box and it will be added to the form, and I can edit it, just not see the form in design view.

I would like to view my database in excel.I want to be able to press a button in my program and then have a specified table in my database to be sent to excel to be viewed.How do i do that? Would it be possible to do that? I just want to see the data table in excel, not really looking for anything else, just a simple table in the excel spreadsheet.
