I am creating a drawing manager, to be run inside 64-bit AutoCAD. From what I have read, there is no 64-bit version of the msjet40.I thought was going to be successful was to build the class as a 32-bit, but I still get the error. is there a way that I can read an access database from withing a 64-bit app?

View 2 RepliesI am working on code in Visual Basic 2010 that will read from an Access 2007 data table. If the row has one of the fields marked as processed then do nothing with it, but it not, then process the data in that record, and update the field as processed, and move on to the next one marked as needing processing, looping through all of them. Later I'll go back and repeat this again.
I am able to read from the database and get all the information from it just fine, but I can't then update the 'processed' field. I'd rather like to avoid having the database integrated with the project as other processes will need to access it when this process (program) is not working on it.

View 6 RepliesI am brand new to VB. I am using VB 2010 Express. I have a MS Access database and can read & display the data. However, when I enter a line of code to manipulate the data I get a "read only" error message in the project editor. I have checked the file and directory structures from windows and the command prompt. I have even used the "attrib" command to make sure the file was not read only. Then I put the following code in the form and it dispaly the read only message.

Now, the user fills in the form. The ID cannot be edited by them where it's automatically counts the number of customer in database and give the id. For example, I already have 3 customers in the database so when I add new Customer, it will be 4 for the ID.
When I click save, it shows me the message of "Index or primary key cannot contain a Null value." I have set an input mask for my Customer. So, can I make it to save in a format like CT001, CT002, CT003 automatically?

I am trying out the Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition Setup and Deployment - Setup Wizard on a very simple VB 2008 app which includes a simple SQL Express dB. The build works fine and it installs on the target system ok. But when I go to run the application and add a new record for example, I get a "read-only" error indicating that the sql db is read-only. Yet none of the files in the folder are read-only. What is odd is that the folder that it was installed into "acts" like it is read only, yet it is not identified as such. If I move the .exe and db files out of that folder, (onto the desktop for example) it works just fine. Should I set up a post build event or something to make

View 4 RepliesMy problem does not seem to be the same as in other links. I'm trying to teach myself VB 2008 and I want to connect to an Access MDB file. I follow the instructions in all the different books and websites. I start a new project, choose a new data connection, change the type to Microsoft Access and browse for the file. When I get the connection string I press "Test Connection" and it's okay. I then drag either the entire table or just a field to the form. I use Data Preview Data and can see all the rows and columns and the data, so I know the connection has been made. however, when I press F5 I get a form, but no data and it says "0 records of 0".
I accessed the code and put a MsgBox before and after the "Fill" statement. The one before pops up, but the second one (below Fill) does not. I also get "A first chance exception of type 'System.InvalidOperationException' occurred in System.Data.dll" in the Immediate Window. I have tried putting a "Try" statement around the code and in this case it will go to the second MsgBox, but still no data.
I'm following what seems to be the most basic and simple method, but I cannot get data in my form.
