VS 2008 Copy File To Network Share With Username/pass Passed In The Code

Aug 4, 2010

I've been looking at accessing shared folders, read and write, via the network without being prompted by the OS for the username and password.

On this forum, and googling, I can find many things about accessing network shares, but none using code which also passes the username and password required.

What I'm basically looking for is to not have to map a drive on the users computer. Then using code, write or read files from a network share and at the same time pass the username / password required for that network share.

VS 2008 Sending A Collection Of File Names As An Argument

Aug 5, 2009

I need to send a switches and a filename to a command line application.First I'll need to get a collection of files that can range from 0 to an infinite amount.Then I can start the process with the correct switches. Normally, within the command line application, I would specify the specific filename and send it as an argument to the application.However, I'm not sure how I would do this. The names of the files have to be preceeded by a specific switch. I can't remember the switch right now, but we'll call it [b]-f[/f].[code]So, I need to figure out how to send all or each of the file names as an argument.

Access To A Server File Share To Move A File?

Apr 18, 2012

Im am writing a simple console app that will check and see that a file exists and then if does it will copy the file and move/paste the file into a new location. The file I'm checking exists as a file share on a server and I am wanting to move the file to a folder on a local machines C drive.

I'm working from my machine which is on the domain where the file exists and I'm logged in and have full admin rights on the domain. I can access the file share but when I run my app it gives an error saying access to to the file path is denied. My question is even if I'm on the network do I still need to provide username and password credentials to make this connection? If so how do I do this?

Copy File To A File Share On Remote Machine

Aug 14, 2009

I am developing an Application in VB.Net 2.0. I have a module which would copy files from the Local Machine to a shared folder on remote machine. This shared folder on the remote machine is an authenticated folder. So, after searching on the Internet I found the following piece of code.[code]Another point to note is that when I connect to the File Share using Windows Explorer and then try to execute the application, it works properly.I am not sure why I am getting the error when I do not connect to the Shared Folder using Windows Explorer.Do I have to set some property so that the Credentials passed in the authentication are used.I also checked some posts that suggested setting up Mapped Drive to the Shared Folder on the Local machine and then to copy the file using IO.File.Copy function. However, I cannot use this as this Remote Folder should be only accessed through the application and not in any other case by the User. The users will not even have the credentials to this remote Server as it will be configured by the admin.So, Is there any way in which I can set this up and transfer the files from local machine to a remote shared folder?

Intercept File Access On A Network Share In .NET?

Feb 24, 2010

I am looking for a way to possibly intercept the point that a file is being accessed on a network share. Specifically before it is determined whether the user has access to the file or not.The goal will be to grant access to that file if the file request is coming from a specific process and that user currently does not have access.

Open A File From A Remote Network Share?

Jan 14, 2010

I am trying to open a file from a server

I currently have

Dim attachedFilePath As String = "\myservermyshare est.txt"
File.Open(attachedFilePath, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read, FileShare.Read)

This does not open a file.

However, if I change the path to be local then there is no issue.

Dim attachedFilePath As String = "c:... est.txt"

So, is there a way to open a file from remote storage?

C# - Sending A String With Sockets?

Aug 20, 2009

I am using Nektra's Deviare to hook winsock's send method calls. My ideia is to learn to also send messages through the same socket than the original application. So what I'm doing is when i detect the first call to send message, I save the socket id(the first argument of the send function), so I can use it later.

So here is my code:

uint socket = 0;
[DllImport("Ws2_32.dll")]
private static extern int send(uint socket, string buf, int len, int flags);

[Code].....

This last messagebox is poping up always -1. Why should be it?

edit: calling WSAGetLastError() returns 2. Which I do not know what it means, as it doesn't seem to appear on msdn.

Sending A String To An Ftp Server?

May 3, 2011

I am working on an application that is going to read a weight from a scale. The people who sold us the scale said that I can send a string to the scale over FTP and the response I will get is the weight. I haven't done much with ftp and have been searching for weeks. Can anyone point me in the right direction? The steps are... Create a TCP/IP connection to the ip address, port 1701 If the connection is succesful then I'll get 53 Ready for user as the response I can then send the username/password to the machine (sent as a string...) Read the response, which should be 12 Access OK I then need to transmit 'r wt0101' to read the weight. The response will have the weight. They've said this is done through FTP but maybe that's not the case? I don't understand why it would be FTP but that's what the technical documents say. Is there a class I can use that sends string commands over a tcp/ip connection?

Sending A String Using TcpClient?

My tcp client has made a connection to the server script! Now that it has connected, how can it send a simple string? I do not know what any of the overloads for the .Client.Send method even mean, or how to use them. I already have a system set up on the server side to parse the string when it is received on the server side, but I have no idea how to send a simple string to it.

C++ - Sending/Receiving A String Through PostMessage?

May 16, 2012

Although there are already a few resources online that address this rough topic, I still haven't found an answer that works for me.I desire to have full communication between my VB.net process and my C++ process. I would like to be able to send a string to and from the C++ process, but for the time being I need to achieve:

Sending a string to the C++ process, and handling it.This creates a few points that I am uncertain on, but I'll try to keep this as simple as possible...using the following function declaration in VB;[code]....

And finally, I used the IPC example here to send the message. This example sends the message using C#, but the concept was all I needed (not to mention that it's a walk in the park to convert such code to VB). Note that in my VB implementation, I didn't need to terminate the string with a null character.

I tried compressing it, converting it to bytes etc etc. The issue with below code is, the XSL transformation is not happening properly and the output excel file is raw xml with some .net exception at the end. (that's what I see on the .xls file that's downloaded at the end) Before I started working on compression my below code was working fine that gives properly formatted excel file from the xml input. the excel file is so nice you can't even tell it was from XML.
