I'd like to know how to do some basic calculations with functions.I'd have a texbox where a user would input a function eg:
x^3 + 2x^2 +2
I'd then want to display different values Eg, the X would be one, so the label shows something like
"X=1 => 5"
How would I do this?

View 6 RepliesI have multiple TcpClient connections to my program. The connections exist as instances of a UserConnection class, that fires events on logon attempt and when receiving messages. My program also holds a Users object, which is a list of a User class objects, holding saved data (username, password etc) for each user that is allowed to log in.
It seems convenient to put a reference object of the respective user, in the UserConnection class (when successful login is verified). Hence, when an event is raised by the connection, the connection object will hold the user reference. As any event handler logic will need to know which user is responsible for the event.
If I don't make a user reference in the UserConnection class, then I need to loop through the users (less than 20) each time, to find the correct user. Not a big deal maybe, but i'm looking to understand how it would be done by an experienced programmer.
When data needs to be sent to a user, I need to access a UserConnection object. Hence the User class also holds a reference to the UserConnection class.
Guide on the user control for vs 2008. The problem i face now is when i try to amend the layout of the user control, but it remain the same layout as before. Eg: i got a button in the User control and i delete it and try to run the program (debug) but the button stil remain in the interface? how could it able to show as what i did in the design?

For ex., if admin logged in, this user can access the whole system; if manager logged in, this user can only access the employee records; & accountant user can only access the payroll.

If someone has any knowledge on how the following works, please advise as to why I can sucessfully Load a user token, Set token privileges to load the profile, impersonate the logged on user, create the environment block, obtain the roaming profile path, and load the profile perfectly fine as long as the application calling the functions is running as an admin. The application runs as a service on the local machine. As soon as I try to run the exact same code under the SYSTEM account, LoadUserProfile returns error 5. What must I have to change in order to allow the SYSTEM account on the local machine to perform the same tasks?

I want a program to detect if the user is using the computer (i.e. mouse and keyboard movements), and if the user doesn't type or move the mouse for a specific amount of time, it executes a command. Normally I would do this with the Application.Idle, but I want it to be detected throughout the system. Any starters?
View 22 RepliesI have an MDI application. Upon starting it, the MDI form is instantiated, then it kicks off a Username/Password log-in form and makes itself invisible(user never sees the MDI form). If the user logs in, the log-in form becomes invisible and the MDI form becomes visible. This works fine, except for one user.When the log-in form comes up, the MDI form is also visible. If he clicks on something, it crashes(certain variables aren't set at that point). If he logs in, however, the log-in goes invisble and everything works fine. This guy is a network admin/IS type and has several versions/hotfixes of the .Net Framework installed. Could that be the problem? Does anyone know what could be causing this problem for this one user and no one else?

The thing is, the folder for each program has a string of random alphanumeric characters at the end. I noticed that on both my XP and Win7 machine, the string is the same. What I am wanting to do is save the user.config file, but the only way to do this, seemingly, would be to hardcode that folder into the path to get the user.config file from.
how that string is generated, and what may possibly cause it to change in other releases even though, so far, it has stayed the same for several of my releases. I don't want to release a version one day and the string change and then it break my program.
I have an assignment that is supposed to accept user input of random numbers. The only part I'm struggling with is I'm supposed to make copies of the array after the user is done inputting the numbers. These copies has to be sized exactly to how many numbers the user input. Am I supposed to use a counting variable and if so how?

I am trying to make a user control for information received from a database but i get:The class WFUserControl can be designed, but is not the first class in the file. Visual Studio requires that designers use the first class in the file. Move the class code so that it is the first class in the file and try loading the designer again.
Do i make the user control directly and add the code? Because thats what i did.. Or are there steps to do first before creating it?

what I need it to do:
1. application needs to start before user logs in.

3. should run the programs as if it's a shortcut, thus being able to add for example the -win parameter.
4. require a password to change it settings

I am writing an app that uses a combo box to list file types for a user to select from. Because a complete list of all options is both impossible and wildly unwieldy, I am only providing about 10 common extensions. I want the user to be able to type in their own file extension if the one they need is not listed. the first item in the combo box is empty by default, but during testing when i type something in their to use as my selection, i get the exception "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." pointed at extensionComboBox.SelectedItem.ToString
