Mar 17, 2012Does anybody know of a good free/cheap listview user control. Because the applicaton i am working on shows a few listviews i was hoping to have something with a good look to it.

VS 2008 - How To Access Listview Data - Program That Contains A (listview) Control
Sep 22, 2009I have a vb-2008 program that contains a (listview) control.

AllowColumnReorder = true
Lets say the table has 3 columns (a,b,c) and 1 row of data.
a b c
1 2 3
I want the user to be able to re-arrange the columns (by dragging the column headers) before printing the contents of the table.
c a b
3 1 2
Statements like:
.. ListViewX.Columns(2).Text
.. ListViewX.Columns.Item(2).Text
.. ListViewX.Items(0).SubItems(2).ToString
Give the column-name (c) and cell-contents (3) of the origional table .. not the (3rd) column (b) of the re-arranged table.
How can i get the column-name and cell-contents of the (3rd) column of the re-arranged table?

Jul 9, 2009I'm trying to create a generic ListView user control that can be used over and over again in different projects. I've got all the basics done but I want to be able to act on click events in the from not the user control. In other words if someone right clicks on the listview, for example, I want the form to know it and be able to act on it.

After searching the internet the only good example I could find is on the msdn pages but this only shows how to add a known set of items so I could not figure out how to convert this to work with variables.

Feb 12, 2010I have a media browser program I am building. I am trying to use drag/drop so a user can drag media tracks from one listview to another listview and then use the second list view as a playlist in windows media player com object. Reading at MSDN I have found out that there is no built in support for item re-ordering with the listview control. I have listview1 working correctly but when I try to reorder items in listview2, the dragged item ends up at the end of the list. So basically I need to get the item insertion index corrected. I have tried more than 10 times to get this code right.

I have a table in the database called tblChannels that I would like to draw the information from and populate the ListView control in VB, in the form of a column. I currently am unsure about how to go about doing this. Mar 10, 2008In my project, I have a form with a background pic that I like, but unfortunately, I also have a ListView on that form which covers most of the picture. Now, is there a way to find the part of the background image concealed by the ListView, and then display it as a background image of the ListView at decreased opacity? You know, like a vague image.Just one more thing, setting the form's transparency key to the background color of the ListView is not an option.

Feb 17, 2011I was just wandering if we could possibly export the contents of the listview control that we can select in the visual basic 2008 application. I tried to set its properties to 'true' on FullRowSelect, HoverSelection and the MultiSelect. I want to copy and paste the content of the listvew control when being highlighted. It highlights all the items inside the listview control and when you use the command ctrl+c for copy and paste it in another application like MS Excel, it only paste one item which is the first item in the row and the rest were not.
However, in the datagridview, it ables to paste all the contents inside of the control but the listview control can't. Why is it so? do i need to add codes on it or it is just the Windows OS
is not capable of doing it? How do I copy the selected items from the listview control and paste it into another application? Same as the label control which I want to highlight or select the text of the label in order for me to paste into the other application but unable to do so. These are the two controls that I'm trying to find out on how to export their contents to another windows application.

Oct 25, 2009Guide on the user control for vs 2008. The problem i face now is when i try to amend the layout of the user control, but it remain the same layout as before. Eg: i got a button in the User control and i delete it and try to run the program (debug) but the button stil remain in the interface? how could it able to show as what i did in the design?

In the main form I have a menu item to open my frmUserType, In this form I have a button to open another form which is my frmCreateUserType, In this form I have a button to add records then update the listview in frmUserType. The problem is the listview will not access with my add button control in frmCreateUserType. I tried not to used mdiparent declaration for my frmMain and frmUserType as children and it works, so meaning that the problem is showing my frmUserType as childform?I am using vb.net 2008

ListView Rowheight Varies - Using ListView Control, With SmallIcons Style ?
Mar 15, 2012I'm using ListView control, with SmallIcons style in VB.NET. Icons are loaded fine, but when I start to scroll ListView down or up from scrollbar (clicking from arrows), rowheight drops to about half from normal in next 20-30 rows below/above upper/bottom row (depends from the scrolling position). After 1-2 seconds, ListView is "refreshed" and scrolling continues normally. When focus in on the ListView and I'm moving up/down with arrow keys or PageUp/PageDown, everything is normal. Any suggestions, what is happening? SmallIcons size is 16 * 16. Is it compulsory to set "Blank icon" with SmallIcon size to all rows, when adding them or what? Wasn't like that in VB6, how is it in VB.NET?

Visual Studio requires that designers use the first class in the file. Move the class code so that it is the first class in the file and try loading the designer again.
Do i make the user control directly and add the code? Because thats what i did.. Or are there steps to do first before creating it?

I have a question regarding user controls.I have made a custom "key manager" class, which has global keydown, keyup, keypress events. It uses a thread in combination with a windows API to handle global key changes. This is the structure:

I can add the class as variable in my class, but I want to make it just like the timer, Errorprovider, Backgroundworker etc. standard windows usercontrols. In short, I want to have an user control that shows up in the bottom of the screen and which has no window.I guess I would have to inherit something, but it all causes crashes till now, as soon I drag/dropped the control into the field. (designer error)
So, how can I make such an user control that has no window, just some events and properties?

I want to create a text box control so the user can enter the date without making a mistake.ex:-Lets assume that the user is trying to enter 31/03/2010 so when the user types 3 first the next number allowed should only be 1 or 0 because there cant be any date more than 31.and if the user enters 31/ then he should only be allowed to enter a month which has 31 days.
