There is a panel which contains 2 components: a label and a TreeView. The hierarchy, obviously, looks like this:panel1 // handles Enter event
- label1
- treeView1
I need to do some UI updates when user starts interacting with any of these 3 controls. My attempted strategy was to catch the Enter event of the panel, which would fire when user clicks a label, or TreeView. This way, I can write only one (1) event handler instead of several. While it worked for the TreeView, it didn't work for the label. When I click the label, I don't get the Enter event on the panel. Whats different about the label control? I could handle the Click event of the label. At the same time, I wonder what the other solutions might be.
I have a custom UserControl that contains just one TextBox. When I set the control to Enabled = False, the TextBox is disabled but the control is not (control still fires the Enter event).
How do I ensure that the UserControl will not receive focus? My Enabled Property Looks like this:
Private _Enabled As Boolean = True Public Shadows Property Enabled As Boolean Get Return _Enabled End Get
there is an textbox, an label and an button on my form. In the click event of the button i wrote label1.focus().ow when i click on the button the focus is being set to the label instead of the textbox, even though the tabindex of the textbox is 1 than compared to 0 of the lablel.
I have a question about the webbrowser control that I hope someone can answer. I am working on a document retrieval and storing class that uses HTML to display and save data. I want to use the webbrowser control in winforms using VB.Net. I only want to store the fields values in the html document, not the whole document. I am hoping to use labels in html and read them with the DOM of the web browser control but am not sure how to do this.
Has anyone done this before and could someone please provide some sample code on how to do this?
I am working on a windows form project and having some problem with UserControl Double Buffering.I created a usercontrol and has a background image, then on top of it I have few radio buttons and labels. Radio buttons and labels are all having transparent background as color. However, when I show and hide the User control, I can see the flickering on those labels and radio buttons that has transparent background. And I tried
Me.SetStyle(ControlStyles.DoubleBuffer _ Or ControlStyles.AllPaintingInWmPaint _ Or ControlStyles.UserPaint _
I have a handle to a window using the FindWindowA() function in the User32.dll (Windows API) and I would to get focus on that window at a later time in my program. how to do that with either a .NET function or User32.dll function? Is there a totally .NET way to get the window handle and focus?
Is there a more efficient/easier way changing the backcolor of a control when it has focus and lost focus? Let's say I've got 10 text boxes. Right now I would have 20 different events...10 for Enter event and 10 for Leave event. Of course, entering would change the back color to "green" and leaving would change it back to "white".
VB.NET Windows Forms Project, VS2010.I have a tabcontrol with several tabpages and on each tabpage there is a textbox. I want the focus (and insertion point) to go to the end of the text in the textbox when the tab is selected. If I make a junky project with the following code in each tab, it works fine:
Private Sub TabPage1_Enter(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TabPage1.Enter With TextBox1 .SelectionStart = .Text.Length .Select() End With End Sub
However, the same code is not working in my actual project. I am having trouble debugging, because if I step through, the breakpoints and IDE mean the focus events don't fire in the same order.
I'm developing an application in WinForms and I have 2 MDI children and I'd like to know the difference between Form.Focus and Form.BringToFront
I would like to know which one to use when clicking on a respective form's titlebar in order to have it pop up while I'm drag/dropping the form
If you are setting the child form mdiParent property after you are calling Form.Show then it messes up the focus of all the child forms so for me, drag/drop of MDI children inside an MDI parent won't focus the form upon Drag start, but only after MouseUp
I would like to show a Form without focus - PLUS - I would like to have 'Enable Application Framework' enabled on the My Project > Application form. Having 'Enable Application Framework' enabled allows trapping of unhandled exceptions project-wide.
I have added this to my code:
Protected Overrides ReadOnly Property ShowWithoutActivation() As Boolean Get Return True
I have used the below code but its not showing the msgbox. What is wrong with this code ?
Private Sub frmSimple_Disposed(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Disposed Dim result = MsgBox("Are you sure you want to Exit ?", vbYesNo) If result = DialogResult.Yes Then me.Close() End If End Sub
I am currently translating a windows form application, written in VB6, to a webpage written in Visual Studio 2010. In VB6 it is easy to find out which control has focus on the form using '.getFocus()'. I have come to the conclusion it is not that easy, if at all possible, in vb2008.
I need to determine the child control with focus - I've got lots of controls in panels and other container controls so the ActiveControl is simply coming back as the TOP LEVEL panel I was trying something like this:
I have a textbox on a form that when it loses focus it updates other text boxes on the form. But before it updates the other textboxes I check the input value in the textbox lostfocus event if it is undesired I return focus to the the textbox and alert the the user with a msgbox. However where my problem is, is that when the cancel button is clicked I don't care what the input in the textbox is because the changes are being canceled but if the value is undesired the it keeps returning focus to the textbox instead of canceling the changes. Is there a way to see what control was clicked on before or in the lost focus event? Can't seem to figure it out tried enter and leave events but no luck!
So for example something like this...
Code: Private Sub TextBox1_LostFocus(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TextBox1.LostFocus If Control that was clicked <> btnCancel then
I am trying to make a routine that will be called everytime the mouse button is clicked. I want it to be called so that the controls event that the mouse is clicked on is triggered.
For example:
You have a button control on your form. Instead of having the Button1_click event
You have a Control_click event. And that Control_Click event will be used for each control on the form.
I have a Visual Basic .Net form (launches after the splash screen tests database connectivity) and it is not focusing above other existing windows on launch. How do I get it to focus above all existing windows and Windows Explorer windows?
What is the correct way to handle saving user control settings on form close. I have a tabcontrol that a user can add tabpages during runtime. The user control has a few controls (listbox, combobox, textbox) How can I save the created tabpages and the data in each control in the usercontrol? Below is how I am calling my usercontrol
Code Public Class TabPageEx Inherits System.Windows.Forms.TabPage
[code]....
I seem to be a little lost as most documentation seems to suggest that I can not save usercontrol settings in the app.config. I have played around with the solution expl. settings tab without much success. But, then again I may be going about it all wrong. So, I am looking for a little direction on the best way to handle this on form close.
I have a custom control with a bindable property:-
Private _Value As Object <Bindable(True), ... > _ Public Property Value() As Object Get
[code]....
Also, here, I'm adding a handler to the DataBindings.CollectionChanged event. This is the second place that I retrieve the type:-
Private Sub DataBindings_CollectionChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.CollectionChangeEventArgs) If e.Action = CollectionChangeAction.Add Then Dim b As Binding = DirectCast(e.Element, Binding)
[code]....
I need the first place, because the BindingContextChanged event is not fired until some time after InitializeComponent. The second place is needed if the binding field is programatically changed.Am I handling the correct events here, or is there a cleaner way to do it?
Note: My GetValueType method uses the CurrencyManager.GetItemProperties....etc, to retrieve the type.
I am working on a data entry type form and I want the enter key to move focus to the next text box. I've got that working great except that the focus is moving to the label that is, in sequence, between the text boxes.
I have this code Public Sub FillCategoryCombobox(ByVal categoryList As List(Of tblCategory), ByVal LvName As ComboBox) LvName.Items.Clear() Dim itemValue = New Dictionary(Of Integer, String)() For Each category As tblCategory In categoryList itemValue.Add(category.CategoryID, category.CategoryName) Next category LvName.DataSource = New BindingSource(itemValue, Nothing) LvName.DisplayMember = "Value" LvName.ValueMember = "Key" End Sub
I receive an error on LvName.DataSource = New BindingSource(itemValue, Nothing) Value cannot be null
Is it possible to set focus on the keydown event so after the button control, sets the focus into the keydown? although says often control can have focus,.Putting a button and a keydown event on a form...
I'm trying to stack a few lists on top of each other. But the label.size.height appears to be bigger then the label itself. When i set the borderstyle to fixedsingle, i see the border around the text. But the height is bigger, so there comes a space between one label and the next. I have tried to set margin and padding to 0 without result. Exemple: label.size.height return 23, when the height actually is something around 15. Does someone knows how i get the right size? Edit: When i explicitly set the height of the lable, the problem is solved. Is this some problem with autosize?
When you add a label from the the toolbox, the default font is always Microsoft Sans Serif, Regular, 8. I like to use Ariel as my font of choice. Is there a way to change the default font setting so I don't have to pick the font I want every time? I've looked under Tools->Options->Environment->Fonts and Colors and I can't find it there.
I have been using vb6 for a while, I am following a tutorial by MS to develop a basic application and a simple task cannot be completed for whatever reasons! The tutorial asks to drag the label object from the toolbox and drop in the tab control container. Then, go to the label size property and adjust the size to some different dimansion. Basic stuff, right? It won't let me do it! After I enter the new dimensions (which by the way are not large or very small), the label size (both width and height) resets back to its original dimensions! I have the vb.net sp1 installed.
How to move a label up, down, left, right inside the panel control? The label should move up when I press a "button for up", the label should move down when I press button "button for down".
I have made a vb.net application which has 63 forms. On each form label2 should contain the username using the application. The first form displayed to the user is the login form. When the user clicks the login button on this form the user name in all newly opened windows should appear inside label2. How can I do this?
