VS 2008 Writing RTB Lines Into Textboxes?
Aug 9, 2011
This time i have a RTB (look.text) that contains no more than 12 lines (it updates according to a listbox but it will never exceed 12 lines of text). The lines contain numbers like this:2345,0,0,1,36,... and the last line will always be a number like: + or -123456789I also have 12 textboxes (a0.text to a11.text). How do i write each line from the RTB in a textbox?-i can't show you my code because it looks stupid and no matter what i tried i always ended up getting the same error "Index was outside the bounds of the array"-

So in my form i have the user input a bunch of data that gets written to a listbox. Like so Pre_Study_Listbox.Items.Add("Team Members are: "). I then save the listbox to a .txt file and they can later load the .txt file back to the listbox. All this works great. But now i need to reverse the order of textbox to listbox and put the information back into the textbox fields from the listbox. So. The parsing character is ":" I need to read each line of the listbox and at the ":" take the rest in put it to the text box. I am not familiar with the parsing command

I'm writing a program where there are text boxes and the user can enter info and append them to a text file as well as read from the text file and view the various entries in it. The problems I'm running into are that I have a button that opens an open file dialog box allowing you to select the file, and I want to get it to open the first entry of that file in the correct text boxes. the code so far looks like this
code:
I used to have this bit of code in there but there was a conflict with the .txt file being used more than once at the same time while it was in there.
code:
Im also having trouble writing to the file and I'm not sure why. I have an "Append" button that has this code in it
code:
and it comes up with the issue "object reference not set to to an object instance".

I want to create a little program with textboxes in it, that writes the contents of these textboxes to a file. It also needs to write some predefined lines to the files, even on the same line as where the contents of the textbox is.
Heres an example:
The file should look like this when you open it in notepad:
^1::
Send t Text from TextBox {Enter}
First I think I would need to do this:
Dim ioFile As New StreamWriter("scripting.ahk")
ioFile.WriteLine("^1::")
If I do the above it works.. But how can I write another line where the "Send t" and "{Enter}" gets written automaticly before and after the contents from the Textbox?

I am having a bit of trouble on how to do a simple compare of two textboxes.In first textbox i have lines with values (mostly http links) In the second textbox i have lines also with links I want to compare every line in textbox1 with every line in textbox2.i would prefer TextBox1 to stay textbox but textbox2 can be a listbox or anything else.
VB For Each line In Me.TextBox1.Lines If line.Equals("i need to have every item from textbox2 here", StringComparison.CurrentCultureIgnoreCase) Then End If Next

I'm trying to create a program that stores a users stats for their character (for something like an RPG). I know how to write more than one line in a text file, but I want to learn how to read and write text on specific lines of my file. I know that you can just read each new line individually in order using a StreamReader, such as
username.text = readLine.ReadLine()
userage.text = readline.ReadLine()
[Code]....
This is good for just displaying the stats and changing them from a constant interface, but I'm afraid that eventually I'll need to read/write specific lines, like reading the fourth line which might specify magic level, or writing a new money amount.

I am writing a UserControls that display different database tables in textboxes. At present, I change which table the UC looks at by means of a Property that is in byte format and the Set part of the Property calls a subroutine to fix various functions.
Public Property csrCategory() As Byte
Get
Return category
End Get
[code].....
When, say Line 2, is selected the value 2 is passed to the value in the UC.

I have code that when text fills a main rich textbox beyond the size of its dimensions - the vertical scroll appears and simultaneously vertical scrolls the main rtb and a second subordinate textbox.
If I have a couple lines of text and I scroll down a line(row) of text using the cursor I wish the subordinate rtb respond in the same manner i.e. scrolling down the same line(row) and obviously the lines of text underneath.

If buff.ToString = "000008298FC27014ECF5610F163277E2" Then
txtvirname.Text = "Trojan-GameThief.Win32.OnLineGames.tvl"
txtrisk.Text = "Moderate"

how to count the lines in textbox1.text (with multiplelines). I don't need to count each character. I only need to count each line from top to bottom in textbox1.text (multiplelines) and I will use Label1 to display the numbers.
example:
1-pauljaones
2-tommyperrry
3-marktoms
4-Jonessmith
5-paulwhite
Obviously this is 5 lines and that's what I need to count.

On my form, i've got some textboxes and some richtextboxes. I'm using the following code, to search through the text properties of each of the two types of control. see below:-
For Each ctl As Control In Me.Controls
If ctl.Text = "7777" Then
ctl.Text = "found the sevens"
End If
Next
What i'd like to do is isolate the textboxes only, is there a way to do that? I tried this but i got an error:-
For Each box As TextBox In Me.Controls
If box.Text = "7777" Then
box.Text = "Found"
End If
Next

i'm running Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition (latest service pack ... 9.0.30729.1 SP) on XP Pro SP3 with .Net Framework version 3.5 SP1 I have a rather large project I've imported from Visual Studio 2003 (Standard).The project compiles and runs just fine ... my compiled program itself never crashes.
But while I actually have the code up in the IDE, and simply adding/deleting code the whole IDE will randomly crash (usually without warning) and I loose my changes since last save.If/when I do get some hint of why it crashed, I get a window about illegal whitespace or something.... but that's rare ... usually it just crashes without warning and the whole IDE completely shuts down instantly. just deleting/adding a character is enough to trigger it maybe once every 30 minutes.
This is on a computer that is otherwise very rock solid .... no other program ever crashes, etc.

I have written a simple script to get a bunch of lines from a text file (they will be filenames eventually) which are split by new lines and puts each one into an array..
Dim ary() As String
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
If My.Computer.FileSystem.FileExists("C:MenuFiles.txt") Then
[code]....
The only thing I can do for now is either use the substring function to remove the first character from all array values after 0 but I don't like that because it's messy and what if the split "works" as I want it to one one of the lines and knocks of the first character when I don't want it to.

I am very close to finishing this function, what I am trying to do is a for loop which:
1) Grabs the value
2) saves the value in an .xml file for later use
Currently when I use a for loop to feed in my function I overwrite the hiddenFields.xml on every pass, instead of adding to it.
Calling function:
vb.net
For X As Integer = 0 To postingHiddenFields
Dim hiddenFieldsReturned As String = functionDealWithHiddenFields(HTMLResponse, postingHiddenFields, X)
Next
[Code] .....
So basically on every pass of the function I'm overwriting the values instead of adding to them.

I tried the 2 listed answers to this problem but neither worked.I'm writing with VB 2008 Express under .net 3.5 Project going well - no problems until I needed to change the form design again. The project still runs OK - the "Form1.vb" and "Form1.Designer" files are still there and look OK, BUT the "Form1[design]" tab is missing - how do I get it back?

Okay, I have a structure that contains numerous elements... mostly strings, one or two integers. I maintain an internal array of that structure. The structure contains ONLY data elements, no code.I want to save the data to a file. I know that I CAN use StreamWriter.Writeline()to put out a formatted string for each element in the array. But is there any way to simply open a binary output file and save each structure, one after the other? And conversely, to load the array again in similar fashion? Something similar to this in intent, though I realize the code below doesn't work.
[code]...
To repeat, I want to write an entire structure to a datafile quickly and easily, without having to save each member of each element in the array. And conversely, to read the data back in the same way for easy loading of the array.
