Heres the code.

I m writing a video poker style game. the form consists of the player's 5 cards, a deal button, a hold button for each card, a button to select amount to play that hand. im using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition.
View 10 RepliesI have a P/L chart which has a left scale (Y axis) which starts from a negative value. I want to format the axis labels (the major tick mark labels) so that the negative ones are red.
Something like;
If cht.ChartAreas(chtarea).AxisX.MajorTickMark.Value < 0 Then
cht.ChartAreas(chtarea).AxisY.LabelStyle.Font = New Font("Verdana", 9.0F, FontStyle.Bold, Color.Red)
[Code]....
Of course that doesn't work since MajorTickMark doesn't have a value property. How does one make this work?
I use GDI+ graphics in vb.net (express 2008). A simple ball animation was fast using an old computer and video card, but very slow after upgrading to a new computer with a hi-end GeFoce GFX 260 video card.Windows 7, 64 bit.I have tried adjusting all the video card settings I can find, but still slow.
View 3 RepliesI'm considering working on a video encoding framework. Essentially a program to re-encode a video file from one format to another, using codecs which are widely distributed. (Codecs commonly found on the average PC.)Emphasis would be on reformatting - rescaling, cropping - in a visual environment. Is vb.NET a good environment for such an application or would it be wiser to look elsewhere?

Im still a bit newb to coding in Vb but Im trying to figure out how to make a simple inventory system for my video game. I need it to do a few simple things and Ive never made a inventory system before so im a bit lost on how to approach it.
Functions Needed:
Player has 40 pb that act as the visual inventory or display the item in that slot.

I set up my armor menu to allow drag an drop of the item but again not sure how to even get the inventory system created to finish the armor menu to allow the object to be dragged into its box and remove its self from the player inventory.I think I need to make a array for 39 or 40 in my adventurestorage class. That part Im pretty certain of but how do I set that part up? I have over 200 images that need to act as a item that can be dropped into the inventory.
Is it possible to send information to a USB Video game controller in VB.Net? The kind of information I want to send to it is information causing the device to think that a button is pressed on the controller when it really is not. Or even better, is it possible to make a USB wire that connects to your computer and another USB port on something such a computer and send information that a video game controller would send to the other computer or whatever? Basically what I want to do is emulate a guitar hero controller sending the data of the buttons being pressed to an xbox 360 console.
View 6 RepliesI am very new to this whole programming thing and I have read several books and many websites but I can't get a good start on creating a video poker game. I understand that I need to create classes, but have no idea how to start. Most of the things I have been reading have been for Visual Basic 6.0 and it appears hard to understand. I am looking for some type of tutorial of how to create the classes I need and how to get the actual information from the classes into my form. Can anyone out there provide me with a good starting point? Is there any good (and easy) code out there to get me started. I feel that if I can get a good starting base, I can learn from there.
View 3 RepliesI'm making a blackjack game for class. Your PlayingCard class totally rocks! I think I said that already Anyway, my board is set up very simply; the player and the dealer have hands with a limit of 5 cards, which I drew as picture-boxes. "sigh" I thought I had this all thought out; the LOGIC of the game was easy in C# console, but applying graphics just adds a whole other dimension to EVERYTHING!
1) Do I need to create an object for each picture-box?
2) How do I tell the program to use cards and their values created in the PlayingCard class to the picture-boxes?
Public Class FRM_BlackJack
'Global Variables
Dim PlayerCards(4) As PlayingCard.Hand

I am using a third-party .NET video capture function library that displays atreaming video from a USB video capture device in a VideoPictureBox (which is very much like the usual .NET PictureBox). I want to display graphics and text over the video stream.

Well currently im programming a game in Visual Basic and I have it to the point where it draws a map on the form, it loads maps to different areas when you walk on the map, and I am doing so by using Graphics. DrawImage which redraws the map on the screen with the character in the new position. It was working quickly and smoothly until now.
I added some more sprites and now it starts to lag badly then it will throw a Out of Memory exception and it will display a big red x across the form. I watched the memory now as i move the character one spot on the forum and the memory increases 100mb's each time. It wasn't doing this before which is weird. I managed to fix the out of memory error using GC.GarbageCollect but I read that this is bad, also the character still lags across the forum. I really didn't want to release the source code until I was finished but seeing as I need help quickly because this is for a project I am working on for Thursday (End of semester Programming 2 Junior year of high school) I don't have many options.
I am having some major problems with the code in VBA and recording a macro didn't get me anywhere nor is the VBA help file. I have to have it so that I can input a values for the x axis rotation and the y axis rotation so that my 3d surface graph will rotate whatever values I input, the 3d surface graph will rotate those degrees. I also have to have a method for having the default rotation. I was also wondering how to put scroll bars for the x and y rotation. The only other thing I am having trouble with is having an input to check box for right angle axes. So far I have two cells for entering the x rotation value and the y rotation value. I also already have my 3d surface graph.

View 6 RepliesI have the smallest dataset in the world that simply consists of a month (text) and and amount. I want to produce a chart showing the month along the y-axis and the value up the x-axis. How do I do it? I have dragged the chart control onto the report page and populated the dataset. The chart shows but nothing like what I would expect. Just to make it simple I populated the dataset with an amount equivalent to the month number so it should show as 1 in January, 2 in Feb etc...However no matter where I drag the dataset's column names I don't get what I want. Where am I going wrong?
I use this simple loop to populate the dataset:
dsSales.Tables("Sales").Clear()
For i As Integer = 1 To 12
dsSales.Tables("Sales").Rows.Add(MonthName(i), i)
Next
ReportViewer1.RefreshReport()
I get this as a result:
way to switch the X and Y axis?

I have successfully created excel application, workbook, worksheet and graphs in excel through vb.net, but I am not able to choose which data to plot on teh x-axis when I plot graphs.I don't really know how to do this even in excel itself, and googling did not help at all...how to create a graph with desired values on the x axis in excel through vb.net, that would be nice.
range1 = Data.Range("A1", "B" & (t2 - t1) / i)
graph1.SetSourceData(Source:=range1)
This is my code, since I have index (t2-t1)/i as the index of the data I want to plot on the y-axis, and I want to plot all A1 values on the x-axis.
overlay a picture box of some kind on top of another picture box in which a video is playing, in such a way that the video plays underneath and is completely visible... and, by drawing on the overlaid picture box, I can add cursors, lines, graphic text, etc... JUST LIKE using a grease pencil to draw on a TV screen?
In my case, the video is 'live' incoming video from a USB capture device. The video-in-a-picturebox display code is a third-party function library, so there might ultimately be an issue of compatibility with this package... so ideally, the solution ought to be something that does not directly interact with the video picturebox (other than to lay on top of it).
Here's my situation: I have a control with motion graphics (for the sake of simplicity, a 'video player' control) in my project. Think of a PictureBox with constantly-changing images. In front of this will sit a second control (such as a second PictureBox of the same dimensions). The topmost PictureBox will be drawn to in its Paint event.
I need to draw very few elements, and the bottom control is updated much more frequently than I need for this drawing. So these elements are drawn to the topmost control. Think of a news broadcast, where they have live video in the background, with a news channel logo, news ticker, and sometimes gradient visible in front.
I'm trying to create that 'foreground' control, and the closest I believe I have gotten so far is the following:
Imports System.Drawing
Imports System.Drawing.Imaging
Imports System.Drawing.Drawing2D
[CODE]...
The 'Opacity' property in the code above is a sort of "scaling factor." The image drawn to the top control may, in different parts of the image, have any alpha value from full transparent to a full 255. This 'Opacity' property is applied to the entire image being drawn, scaling the alpha values of each pixel.

View 6 RepliesI have a vb.net project which i have inserted pictures and video. I inserted a video clip using the Windows Media Player control and it does work. The issue i have is that i can't move the program to another computer because the pathname for the video will be wrong. I know i could change the pathname when i move it but this is not practical because i need to present this program. Does anybody know how to make the video accessible no matter what location the program is at?
View 6 RepliesI am monitoring 12 video feeds from video cameras. Now I have more than 12 cameras, I have 134. But I will only monitor 12 cameras at a time. By Monitoring I mean, I have 12 small video screens on the form that I can see the video. The way I know which cameras are active, so I can monitor them is by a boolean value in a sql database. I run a Store Procedure in my program, and spit out the results in a XML file. I then read the XML file in a loop. This XML file will have a list of the camera names I need to monitor.
So that is for 12 video feeds. Now, I want to have a NEXT or FORWARD button on my monitor form. So when I click this it will give me the next group of cameras, 13 to 24. Now if I only have15 cameras that are active, that means the first group is 1 to 12, then the second group is 13 to 15 cameras. So I will only have 3 to monitor on the second grouping. One thought I had was to have another field in my table to mark as already as an active monitor, so when I run the SP, i will not select that row. But I need to select 12 at a time. Or I can make a number of xml files, one xml file for each grouping of 12, but I need to figure out how I can select the next group without re-selecting the first group. I have no code at the moment, I'm on my non-programming computer.
