Oct 21, 2009I'm creating a CD that when inserted into a CD-Rom will AutoRun, which brings up the program starting with a splash screen, then the first window form. All this works, no problem. On the first window form I have a button (one of many) all buttons work (so far) except this one button. (I actually haven't test3d the buttonjs to see if they work on / from a CD yet, but they work in Debug).
I would like to have the user click the button, and have that button be tied to a zip file or an exe file that is in a folder on my CD, that will be downloaded to the user's computer. I would like the usual window to come up asking the user where the user would like to save the file, the user will choose the folder, click the save button and the file downloads from the CD to the hard drive of the user's computer, so the user can open it later. It doesn't have to Run from the CD, it is just to download to be accessed later.
Some files will be a Zip and others are Exe files that I would like to have downloaded to the user's PC by way of a button click. Of course the user's computer will need to be able to know which drive the CD is in.
This is what I've tried and doesn't seem to work...Have not tried it from directly from CD (Haven't tried anything directly from the CD as of yet, but after this problem my next step is try and make a AutoRun CD and test the program).

I'll start another post for How to Make my Program ready for a CD. I think it may involve Publishing...but publishing only made a setup.exe, which is Not what I want.

Mar 15, 2010I am using a WebBrowser-Control to fill in a webform and then click at a button, this currently results in a standard Download File Dialog (you get these if you download a file using internet explorer), but instead, I have to catch this file and save it automatically with a by me defined name to a specific folder.I am trying to code a little application in vb.net which download the Export-file from my wordpress-blog, and I want to do this completely without user-interaction.Currently everything works, except the downloading of the file.I tried to catch it with the event System.Windows.Controls.WebBrowser.Navigating(ByVal Object, ByVal System.Windows.Navigation.NavigatingCancelEventArgs) but I don't see where to download the file from?

Nov 15, 2011I have a web application built around a frameset. The main page (with the frameset layout) is index.aspx. After the user logs in, if there are any alerts it redirects the main content frame to an alerts page with a confirmation button on it. When they click this button I want the index.aspx to be reloaded. If I use the response.redirect("index.aspx") on button click it reloads the main content frame with another frameset.
The server-side button click sets a flag within the database so that the user doesnt see the alert again.
how do I force a complete reload of the entire frameset?

Aug 6, 2009I have managed to automate the following page: https://post.craigslist.org/atl/S/msg/none/x and even click the "Continue" button, but I noticed that my vb 2008 program is creating an infinite loop and tries to click "Continue" buttons on following pages. I only want my program to click the continue button once, fill out more data on the next page and then click another continue button on a later page. But I need the following code to end on the first page before I can continue coding for the following pages so that the web browser doesn't go crazy.Here is the code that I am using and not sure if this is called an infinite loop, but that is what it seems to be doing:

Apr 25, 2012I have a popup aspx page that receives data from a parent page gridview Edit click. There is a great deal of parsing of data from parent page to pop up as the data is being translated in pop up, then sent back to parent page to be reassembled in the original text block before update.
When the popup passes the data back or is canceled, the parent page gridview is still in Edit mode.I would like to pass the Cancel or Update button click from the popup to the parent page gridview so it can complete the update or cancel event without asking the user to click the corresponding command button link from the gridview edit mode, to Update or Cancel.
UPDATE: There is also a jquery UIBlocker on the Parent page to prevent the user from returning to the page until the PopUp page processing has been completed. Below is the critical code:

Had a problem with preventing the popup from reloading. So there is an if condition in the load event. A dynamic number of controls are built on the popup as literals. So the Page Init event and Page Load event fire on non Postback to rebuild the controls.

The app works fine in every detail when installed on the development computer. But, on the target computer when the command button is clicked an unhandled exception occurs which says: System.IO. This works fine on the development computer. Do I need a way to code this as a relative path? Form With A Tab Control That Has 18 Pages - Click On A Tab It Opens The Page And Select A Textbox On That Page
Mar 8, 2009I have a form with a Tab Control that has 18 pages. When I click on a tab it opens the page and select a textbox on that page (txtTextbox1. Select() ). This works for the first 8 pages but not for the remaining 10 pages. Although on these pages I can mouse click on the textbox, enter info, save then click my Add button that clears the textboxes and has the code (txtTextbox1. Select() ). The textbox is selected just fine. The code for all my pages is the same except for the tab name and the control names. The tab key will move the selection to the next textbox in order on all pages and the Enter key is coded to do the same. The first 8 pages have a total of 256 labels, buttons, list boxes, textboxes and checkboxes on them.

Dec 22, 2009I have seen on a few applications where there is a Pop-up page that has Tab controls on it with an several buttons on the bottom for Ok, Cancel and Help. These three buttons are on all 6 Tabs, but I don't think they actually have different button clicks for each tab. How does one have these three button on all the tabs but without having to have separate clicks statements.
