I am currently creating a program for my own use but I need some information about groupboxes. I have 3 groupboxes with each some checkboxes in them. My question is: How do i get the number of objects (checkboxes) in a groupbox. I tried looking for the index like in a listbox but it isn't part of the controls.

View 3 RepliesI am making an application that is designed to restore the settings for another application of mine. It so far contains 1 Label, 1 GroupBox and 4 CheckBoxes. The code I am making is designed so that when CheckBox1 is checked, CheckBox3 is enabled, and vice versa.
That does work, with this code in CheckBox1_CheckedChanged:
If CheckBox1.Checked = True Then
CheckBox3.Enabled = True
Else
CheckBox3.Enabled = False
End If
As I said, this code works exactly as intended. However, when I try to do the same with CheckBox2 and CheckBox4, using the following code in CheckBox2_CheckedChanged:
If CheckBox2.Enabled = True Then
CheckBox4.Enabled = True
Else
CheckBox4.Enabled = False
End If
It is the same code, basically, the problem is though, when I check CheckBox2, then CheckBox4 will enable, but when I remove the check from CheckBox2, CheckBox4 will remain enabled. [URL]

I wanted to see if I could have a list of six check boxes with names of a certain author that people have or have not read. When they are asked to check all that apply to them and then hit submit I want a label to display a message depending on the number of checks they made. So if they have 2 checks marked off then a message could say, "You do not read much of this authors books?" or 5 could say " You like this author, don't you?".

i have a sort of problem when i try to add some linklabels in my groupbox. I used this

I can only add 4 linklabels no matter how big is the groupbox, i tried autoscroll but nothing. How can i do to store minimum 20 linklabels in a groupbox? Here is the whole code i used:

the problem with this code is that it only inserts the serial number of the LAST checked checkbox and the number of entries of it depends on the number of checked checkbox for example ... if I checked the rows with the serialnumber 123 and 55652341, first the row with the serial number 123 then second 55652341, only 55652341 appears in the database and it is entered twice(twice because two checkboxes are checked)

Here using VB .Net 2008. I seem to be having trouble getting group boxes to appear when I click a radio button.
For example:

This indeed brings up the first radio button however I have other groupboxes underneath which with the same code will not appear when the radio button is checked.

The second groupbox does not appear and is directly behind the first groupbox. The Top code doesn't seem to be working either.
This feels like a completely basic question, but, for the life of me, I can't seem to work out an elegant solution.
Basically, I am doing a LINQ query creating a new object from the query. In the new object, I want to generate a auto-incremented number to allow me to keep a selection order for later use (named Iter in my example).
Here is my current solution that does what I need:

Is there a way to validate a groupbox with a couple radiobuttons in it to make sure that one of the radiobuttons is selected?
Heres why I need this. I need a user to be able to select their class rank out by way of radiobuttons in a groupbox. When they click submit, I need to validate that atleast one of the radiobuttons got selected and if not display a messagebox.
I got one reply early of:

I am having a problem doing select case inside my groupbox.I have a bunch of buttons in a groupbox, each button will do a same function only with a different values when clicked.For example, let's say i have 3 buttons in the groupbox for now.[code]The function will display a message in a textbox.My problem here is, the message shown in the textbox will always be Case "C", the last 1. I jumbled the order, anything that's last will appear instead which I think it's because of the For Each. I tried a do while loop but I do not have any conditions i can think of to use for it. I also tried using IFs instead of Select Case but not successful.
View 2 RepliesI'm working on a project and my boss insists I use a DataGrid for this. The grid holds information for work orders, one of the cols has a check box in it. I need the user to be able to select any number of those checkboxes/rows and then return a value to the table "stamping" that users ID. This is what I have so far to get the grids populated... I'm using 2005 with a 2000 Access Database if that helps. Though this will be changed to SQL Server once we get it working (yay more work)...

I'd like to make a GroupBox have a black line as its boarders , just in the old VB6 , but it seems there isn't any such a property . Look , for example in the picture below : First there is GroupBox control but it can only have a line around it without color . Next , there is a Panel control , but the problem with that is that it can't have a caption set . At the far right side there is Panel control with a Label control placed over it . That's the best way I can think of in order to make something that at least will look like with what I have in mind . However , is there any other way I could do that ?
View 11 Repliesi have a list of links on a form and when you click one, it will set a specific groupx visible to true in a set position. So I have about 8 groupbopx control on this form. When I drag one out of the way and another in the form in design time, it seems they stay inside one another at times if they overlay. I don't understand this. Then some will not show at runtime depending where they arer left from design time even though I set the position to be in the form. This is completely different from vb6. Why are they staying inside other groupbox controls rather than being independent?

This code doesn't work because the strings returned in the select case block don't match any of the cases that are coded. I need a better way to do this, I imagine there is a more efficient way.
I would like to use code to create a checkbox with default properties and place it at a certain position in a groupbox. For example, i would like to do this by pressing a button and that i can give in the name and tag by use of an imputbox. Also, i have noticed that if something like this is done, these changes aren't permanent and don't apply to the designer nor the code in VB. Is there a way to let the newly created checkboxes appear in the designer? And what about permanently deleting checkboxes by pressing a button. With "Dispose()" it isn't deleted from the designer...

View 8 RepliesI'm making a project that has a bunch of different types of calculators in the same tab within a tab control. To organize these calculators, I put each one in a groupbox, there are about 5 or 6 in all. When I was finished designing all of them, I placed all the groupboxes in the spot they needed to be, but once I started creating the events for them to be visible or not visible there are a bunch that don't show up. I think it has to do with the fact that VB thinks that the groupbox is part of another groupbox that isn't visible so it doesn't show.
How can I go about only showing a single calculator at once in my tab?

I decided to play around with NickThissen's Expandable GroupBox control.Expandable GroupBox//When I add a control to my form and debug or build the project, the Text of the GroupBox changes to the default. The Name and anything I put inside of the GroupBox stays the same, however.I also noticed that the control resizes to it's default size when I build and/or debug.
