I am looking for a way to save and load the values of all my controls present in my form.My form has around 100 controls spread over 7 tabs. The controls include (Multiline) TextBoxes (Strings), NumericUpDowns (Integers, Decimals) and Checkboxes (Booleans). If the user clicks the save button a "Save File" dialog should appear allowing the user to specify the directory and the filename of the save file. All the values of the controls should then be written to that file.If the user clicks the load button an "Open File" should appear where the user can pick a previously saved save file. All the controls should then adopt the values found in the save file.I have implemented Application Settings in my form, and now when I click save, it saves the control values through My.Settings.Save(). If I click load it loads them. However, my project requires that multiple save files can be made to reflect multiple configurations. As I understand Application Settings only allow for a single .config file in the Application Data folder. So how can I code a save/load routine to save/load different configurations?
this application I'm writing is for Employee Data. I have 7 texboxes and 1 combo box. With the file menu I have used that function to save info inputed in one texbox. However for this application I need to use btnSave button to save the record.
here is what I used for the file>save menu:
Dim result As DialogResult 'find input file With OpenFileDialog1 .Title = "Find Input File"
I would like to know how you take the text in a textbox, and save it into a .bat file. I have a program, and I want the users to enter text into the textbox. Then they click the save button and save it. Also. The textbox name is TextBox1 The file is already made though. I have a button that creates the bat file, and I want another button to save the textbox info into the bat.
I currently have a vb browser and cant for the life of me find out how to load a "favorites list" the furthest I've got is add text to link label and save text in a location. I also cant find an if statement stating that if a label has type in it you move to next label.
Code: Private Sub Favourites_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim savef As New System.IO.StreamWriter("c:Program FilesAmaza Browserfavourite links.txt") [Code] .....
I'm working on a simple "sports management" game just to test out whether I could make an actual one some time in the future, but for the life of me I haven't been able to figure out how to save the contents of the datagridview. I want it to be saved in a format that doesn't require the user to have Access or any other program, so that the only thing users need are the .exe and the database file. Another question about the datagridview: How do I access the content on specific rows and columns of the datagridview? If I want TextBox1.Text to be whatever is written on Row 4, Column 2, how do I access that information?
I am using the read all lines to read all the contents of a file and store it in an array. I have used that data and display it to textboxes by splitting the lines. I want to now all if the user change the text in a text box, I want to write that updated information back to the file.

I want to save this form (Form1 and all of the external anwsers that are written in the textbox and the radiobuttons that are selected! Next question is to load that.... The code
How do I get my info from a .txt from my website to load into my listbox?! Like if I were to do this... Try Dim client As New Net.WebClient client.Credentials = New Net.NetworkCredential("username", "password") ListBox1.Items.Add(client.DownloadString("ftp:public_html/listboxitems.txt")) Catch ex As Exception MsgBox("Error : " + ErrorToString(), MsgBoxStyle.Critical) End Try It just adds a straight line of my multi lines that are in the .txt file...
I'm looking to add a save function to my game, and one of the problems that I have come across is, saving the amount of items the player carries, making it so that the amount # corresponds with the item itself.[code]....
I'm using the SaveFileDialog to save listbox info into a text file. The files save fine, but when you go to save the file, if you hit the cancel button, it will overwrite the previous file you saved, because it's name was the same and it seems to save the previous file as the new name for your next file. Is there any way to catch if the user clicks cancel, and then exiting the sub if they did?
where can I find information on how to take info from a text box and save it to a file and later retrieve the info and print it out on a printer or back into text boxes? Also creating a database.Example. The Database will contain a list of customers. Within each customer profile there could be any number of databases for just that customer. and with in each database there is a system to keep track of different things.
Main Database = List of different Customers
Customer Data Base = List of different key systems.
Customer database key systems = list of key generated and if the have used that number or not. (Along with other info)

I'm trying to save the input from the user from several text boxes into a text file, but to append to put after the last record on the next line. I've searched google and have tried the numerous ways but with no luck, and tried searching here but came up with a 502 bad error or something message.
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button3_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button3.Click
How can I save all that info to a file to pull up for later use in the program? All the info was entered into text boxes and at the end of the program I have a button that is named Save Information.
[Code] Private Sub SaveFileToolStripMenuItem1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles SaveFileToolStripMenuItem1.Click Dim MyStream As Stream Dim SaveFileDialog1 As New SaveFileDialog() [Code] .....
I have a form with 2 TextBoxes that I want to be able to save to a text document like C:Data.txt. When I save to the text document I want it to continuously save. For example it when you open the text file it should look something like this:
TextBox1 TextBox2 ------------ TextBox1 TextBox2
Is it possible to do something like that? A separator is not necessary, would be nice to distinguish different saves.
Is there a simple way to save user input from MANY controls (textboxes, comboboxes, etc...) to a text file? When I say 'MANY', I am referring to at least 580 textboxes and several dozen comboboxes.
I may be able to accomplish this using the StreamWriter Class, but doing this individually would take quite a long time. I suppose I could also change all text boxes to richTextBoxes and save to .rtf. It seems like this would be even more time consuming.
Surely there is a simpler way to do this 'globally', perhaps with an added single line of code that points (and saves) to a preset or created text.txt file whenever text is added or changed in a textbox or combobox throughout the program.
I'm currently developing an editor for an AFL management sim.I want to be able to load three or four multidimensional arrays to the program, then save them to the same file. I tried the tutorial on here but got completely muddled up. Why can't it be easy like in VB6 When it was like 10 lines of code tops!
# TAG NAME = is saved to a file using the code below but when I load that same file back into a RichTextbox Control using additional code below, I get inconsistent results as I try to parse the text. Has anyone else had this problem?'Save the contents of the RichTextBox into the file.richTextBox.SaveFile(saveFile1.FileName, RichTextBoxStreamType.RichText);'Retrieve contents of File into RichTextBox control Dim logData As String logData = System.IO.File.ReadAllText(path + "\" + filenname);
