I am using the read all lines to read all the contents of a file and store it in an array. I have used that data and display it to textboxes by splitting the lines. I want to now all if the user change the text in a text box, I want to write that updated information back to the file.

i am currently working on a form that looks like this: When i click on any textboxes under Plan Code, the plan form will pop up. When i click on a field in lbType, field will appear in my lbCode. When i click on a field lbCode, i want to be able to insert information into the textboxes.

I have multiple forms in this program but would like some advice or an example on how to proceed with one small issue I encountered. Let's say I have two forms: frmCalls and frmView. frmCalls has a Data Grid Viewer that is data bound to a MySQL Database. You can see specific columns and the values to those columns in the rows that the data grid viewer provides.
Now, what I want to do is when a row is selected on the Data Grid Viewer and the user clicks a button titled "More Info", I want the data grid viewer to interpret the data that the user would like to see more info on and place it in a form in frmView. For example: Columns: ID, Address, Time, Incident Nature, Date, etc...
When the user clicks the More Info Button, it should put all the information from the Data Grid Viewer in the appropriate text boxes in frmView. I also want it to input data that is not shown in the Data Grid View, but is located within the same ID or row in the database. I should add that the Data Grid Viewer is using a data bound source, table adapter, etc. Anyone have any suggestions for me on how to proceed? Or maybe some sample code if at all possible.

I've been able to incorporate stock data into my spreadsheet by linking it to the web, but the trouble is the spreadsheet will keep no history of what the previous stock values were, so I can't graph how things change over time. This sounds like it might be too complicated to be built in to excel, so I was wondering if anyone knew how to program this in Visual Basic. Maybe something like this.... If refresh then new cell plus new time stamp. Another possibility would be to have a whole bunch of cells that refresh only once but at longer and longer intervals, e.g.,
Day Stock value
1 refresh at Day 1
2 refresh at Day 2
3 refresh at Day 3
etc..

Under the Event 1 Tab in the project I would like it to have 12 different buttons (6 Start Timers, and 6 Stop Timers) that control the time in the textbox. The user enters two teams and the 12 players on each team then it has you pick the 5 active players and takes you to the run form where you can start the game once started you can add things like fouls and baskets made and attempted if a player gets 5 fouls or you hit stop clock you change which players are active and its supposed to update the database through the dataset and dataadapter but it doesnt seem to update the database with the info put in the datagrid view.

Update: When you hit resume game after change of players is when it puts zero on everyone again.

I want to take the values from textboxes on a windows form and then update the values in the sql server database...I want to update only those fields for which a value has been entered by the user and leave the database fields as it is (no change or updation) for which the textboxes are left empty by the user.....I opted for sql command and then i couldn't find out How can I generate the query dynamically for such a situation??? Like I intialize the string by str= " Update Bookings set " and then how i can alter it by considering the textbox values that have been changed....I couldn't find the way...I need shortest and optimized code for this situation....

This is the hardest part of LinqtoSql database handling operations in visual basic 2008 I ever encountered,w/c is the update operation cause Ive been posting this thread several times from the other forum site but noone yet was able to answer my question,examples were given but its not efficient cause it won't specify based on the codes i gave and i know its not easy but im still hoping that one of the answerers of this forum will be able to resolve this particular linqtosql operation codes. I would like you to identify,differentiate, or troubleshoot the block of codes#3, or anyhow, why it has no progress at all or it won't edit and change the records but it runs and no error in regards with its code, and the other 2 blocks of codes were able to successfully do its operations.I was just wandering why only the block of codes#3 is not doing its operation successfully when you change the record being displayed in the textbox.Is there a possible way to edit records in the textboxes?If there is.... I'm using the SaveFileDialog to save listbox info into a text file. The files save fine, but when you go to save the file, if you hit the cancel button, it will overwrite the previous file you saved, because it's name was the same and it seems to save the previous file as the new name for your next file. Is there any way to catch if the user clicks cancel, and then exiting the sub if they did?
