View 2 RepliesI have a strange problem that I can't seem to find any answers on. I wrote two programs in VB2010. Both work great, install and uninstall no problem and I have done this on 4-5 PC's and laptops, all running Win7. A friend saw them and asked if he could use the programs, but when he installed them neither of them would work. All the prereq's were there and he is also running Win7. For some reason all of a sudden his enlarged font reset itself and VIOLA! both programs started working. I have retested this and it fails/works every time.
So my question is, how do I fix this or is it fixable? Is there somewhere in VB where this has to be set to be 'flexible'??
I have several fonts I want to include in my program to be used, or just want to put them in a folder with my program, or some method of adding them to the program without having to install it on any PC that I want to use the program on.
So basically I want to Either
A. Include the fonts in the program so the program can use them
B. Find a way to have the program use the fonts without them being installed on the PC.

View 2 RepliesI am working on a a program that uses a textbox to display data from a telescope. Normally the data is standard ASCII characters, but there is one time when the data is displayed as blocks to indicate the number of degrees to go. The textbox font is set to Sans Serif in the property box. When I show the blocks, I want to switch to Wingdings. I have searched how to change the textbox font and tried several ways found, but none of them work. I know that the textbox will handle Wingdings - I can set the font property and it displays correctly.
The most common method I have seen is: txtDisplay1.Font = New Font("Wingdings",26.0, FontStyle.Regular) ,but like all the other methods tried, the font never changes.
I have made updates to my programs, including a large update with the fonts on my forms. The only problem is this font is not found on vista or Windows XP and must be downloaded. The program is completely ruined with its looks without it. Is their a way so that both Windows XP and Vista could download these fonts, On startup of the first form, Form Load maybe? Even if the user says that he or she would like to see the program with the fonts? I just don't want to take the many hours i wasted resizing with the new fonts, ect. If it would be easier I could ask the user if they are using Windows XP, Or Vista?

I think I'm starting to wear out my welcome by posting so much one after another..but, I'm having so much fun with this..Like a kid in a candy store. one more thing then I'll give you fellows a break. I was trying to get the colors and fonts to go into the registry and have the program pull those settings back into the program when its opened up but i can't seem to get it right for some reason. I only included the one line in the Form1_Load and left what i had in the in the other. Obviously this code is incomplete, and not functional As Is. So how do I save the Font Size, and then Save the listview backColor and Forecolor in the reg, and retrieve those settings when the programs starts?

iam using this code to change the font in a richtextbox it's work if user select a single font if there are multiple fonts, and font sizes it dosenot work

Alright inside of a combo box I have a list of colors and I want to change the background color of the combo box to the selected color...basically this... but im not sure what the problem is here anyone have some advice or is this not possible?
CBLinerColor.BackColor() = CBLinerColor.Items.Item(0)
Basically i want dynamic code that will change the color depending on the items in the box.
I want the background of my form to be the same color as the window frame color that the user selects, even if that changes. I selected System->WindowFrame as my background color, but it always remains a dark grey, regardless of what I have my window color set to. How else would I achieve what I want? I assumed I was doing it the correct way. Do I actually need code that gets the system window color and then apply it?

View 6 RepliesI have a few questions about using the Mouse in a VB program
1. How would I get my program to move my mouse to a color thats anywhere on the screen? I want this done by hotkeys.Example: Lets say the hotkey i want to use is ALT+C and the color is white. When I press ALT+C, it will move to white.
2. How would I simulate a mouse click when the mouse is over a certain color? Again, I would like this done with a hotkey.Example: Lets say Hotkey is ALT+D, and the color again, is white. When I press ALT+D,I want my mouse to start clicking whenever its goes above white. I also want to be able to turn this off. I want to be able to set the "click interval"
3. How would I "move my mouse" downward when I press a HotKey and Click?Example: Lets say my hotkey is ALT+V.I press ALT+V. Then whenever I click my mouse, the mouse cursor will "move" a bit down.I want these to work even when my form isnt in focus.
I currently have only used VBA up until now and I have a very small project that requires a VB.net. I have never used this language before.Here is what I would like to do:At work I have 2 different 3rd party programs that I would like to interact with each other.When a color change occurs on Program "A" at a predetermined coordinate on the screen a mouse click is called at a different predetermined coordinate on the screen causing the desired change in Program "B".
View 1 RepliesI am developing an ASPX file to return all records from a SQL table. I can successfully get all of the numbers to show, but now I want certain rows to have their background colors changed if they meet certain criteria. So I want to compare 2 of my columns to some value, and if it exceeds this value then it should change color of that row. How can I fix below code? Main problem is I don't know how to specify a column of data to compare. No errors on this, but none of my rows have color changes either.[code]...

View 4 RepliesThe purpose of the code below is to scan a program of mine to detect a pixel color change. It loops through until a change is detected. It works fine for about 10-15 seconds and then I get an ArgumentException was unhandled error. So far this has happened on two different lines at separate times...
Image = New Bitmap(Rec.Right - Rec.Left, Rec.Bottom - Rec.Top)
I made a simple code that changes the background color for my program and then save it. But for some reason, it will not work if the RGB code has 255 in it.

I want to change the color of the group header text in listview which separates all the items into various groups, there is no such option to do that directly because no such property exists.
As far as i can think of it can be achieved via overriding the paint event but i have not done any overriding of paint events on windows controls so far.
