VS 2008 Combobox Properties - Make The Combobox Not To Be Able To Write Yourself?
May 13, 2009I have completed my project and i have one remaining thing to settle... I want to make the combobox not to be able to write yourself. for example there are 4 options ,"A","b", "c","d".If i type w in the combo all the project is ruined!i want not to be able to type at all to prevent this...Which property should i change?

Jul 16, 2011I have a ComboBox with several items from C1 --> C999. And I would like to ascend the combobox to be easy to manage, so I set True for Sorted Properties. However, the problem comes after that is for example, it shows C11 --> C110 --> C12, etc. I believe because it counts from left to right. So how can I solve this problem.

Oct 28, 2009I have a combo box on my application (working with VB.net) called CmbAttendantstatus. I have sent the dropdownstyle = dropdownlist at the Properties level of the combobox.
There are 200 field types e.g;
Current Attendant
Ever Attendant
Never Attendant etc
The issue is I can only select one from the list, fine, but I want to be able to type the first letter on the combobox and it takes me to the nearest field type rather than looking through the entire drop list. For example I want Never Attendant, I just need to type N and the drop list takes me to anything starting from N and if I add E for example any field starting with NE shows up for selection. Presently, when the dropdownlist is selected you are not allowed to type anything...

Apr 27, 2011I'm making a control and I am trying to finalize my design time properties grid. I have several List(of Class) items as public properties and when I click on the design time menu (while testing the control) there is the word "Collection" and a button with an ellipsis (...) that brings up a neat pop up with the buttons Add/remove and all of the public properties of the collection's class on the right hand side. Basically for a non-collection instance of a class (with public properties) I'd like a similar button to show up. I know I could put all of the properties in the main control class and group them, but I like the pop up box feature. Anyway to duplicate this? (think font grid item etc.)

Mar 5, 2012In the form design I set up a TableLayoutPanel, 20x20 cells and in cell (1,1) a PictureBox (called Target) containing the image of a small target. The properties box for Target shows some very promising properties, Column and Row - and if you overwrite the values in the properties box, the PictureBox obligingly shifts to the corresponding cell position in th design. However in VB it is not possible to refer to Me.Target.Row or .Column - neither appears during coding in the menu of properties, and deliberately coding either of them produces an error like
Error 1 'row' is not a member of 'System.Windows.Forms.PictureBox'.
1. Why does the properties box show properties that cannot be altered programmatically?
2. How can my program move Target around in the TableLayoutPanel?

Jan 16, 2009I'm working on a Hazardous Materials label printing program. One of the options is to do an "NFPA" label. Since there are 4 values required with 4 or 6 options, the ratings are entered via radio buttons in a group box. That's working okay. I display values in the NFPA diamond as they're entered: left quadrant blue, top quadrant red, left yellow, bottom red. I'm having trouble with the label in which the rating will be displayed on top of a jpg diamond for the white. In this quadrant the text can be up to 4 characters. I can accept the text going into an adjacent block a little, but the corners of the label overlap into another quadrant/color. I reduced the font size which solved the overlap problem but the font is then too small and looks terrible. I tried to make the background of the label transparent to let the color come through correctly but that's not a valid value for label.background. I'm figuring that the transparent background is the best solution. What can I use that will accept a transparent background so the color shows through?
I'm trying to set the transparent property via label properties properties, not via code. Here's the code if it makes any difference:

The information is:How many pages are inside the PDF file
Page Size
File name
Title
Author
Subject
The PDF files are place in different folders under �d:PDF new � and after saving the information, most the folder be moved to �d:PDFold�
The process most run continues when a new folder at create or in every 30 sec.
How I do that?

Dec 16, 2010Attempting to follow instruction page 51. I have clicked form1 and clicked Alphabetical and Text is highlighted. The properties window is in Alfa order and the btotom reads "The text associated with the control". Instructions indicate modify the properties and table4-1 shows what should be modified. HOWEVER this data does not appear! How do I call this sata to modify. Soory for being a dunny. Trying to learn Visual basic 2008.

Feb 25, 2010I'm using a masked text box control. It has a property, ValidatingType, that is not available at designtime so it doesn't appear in the properties window of the IDE. The IDE has two drop-downs where you can select an object in your project on the left drop-down and see the associated members on the right drop-down.
My question is: Why, if I select my masked text box control on the left drop-down, don't I see the ValidatingType property on the right drop-down? All the events for the text box appear, why not the property members as well? Perhaps because it only shows properties that I code for an object?

Jan 22, 2011I have several classes that use a bunch of strings for directories, arguments, etc.
At the moment, they're all just declared globally within the class like so:
VB.NET
Private str1 As String = "path"
Private str2 As String = "path2"
Private str3 As String = "arg"
To me, that looks awful and doesn't seem like the proper way of doing things. So, I was thinking, should I make a property for each string and then use a constructor to initialize them?
Would that make a difference at all? Is that the proper way of doing things?Also, some strings are used in a ton of different places and they're basically just being copied from one class and pasted into another. So, do you think I should do what I suggested above, but with a class whose sole purpose is to house those strings so that the code isn't duplicated a million times everywhere? Would that be the most efficient way of doing things?

[code] Where can I get a list of all the properties I can get data from in regards to a domain computer.I can pull the results when I know the name of the item but how can I just use no filters and then populate a listbox or treeview with every one so I can look at them? Aug 21, 2009My UserControl has a Font property, and the user can edit this property in a Property Grid on the form (just like you as designer can edit font properties in the VS IDE property grid). The property in the grid is expandable (by clicking the [+] expand icon) and shows some sub-properties such as Name, Bold, Size, Italic, etc. It also shows two properties I want to get rid of: GdiCharSet and GdiVerticalFont.

VS 2008 Intellisense, Indexed Properties?
Sep 26, 2010I've wondered this for a while, when I hover over an object's properties when the program is paused (from a breakpoint) I can see the values of each property but when it comes to a collection it wont list the objects in the collection unless I specify an index, how do I specify an index?Basically I have a form with a ToolStrip that has 12 items in it, I would like to see what the 12th item is but can't because it's an indexed property.
