Every once in a while, my GUI form will turn into a code. So in the right panel (Solution Explorer), I click on Form2 to edit my gui, but instead a blank editor appears.Yet when I am debugging the application, everything is normal and I can see the GUI fine.
View 2 RepliesAnother newbie question i am afraid, I have created a game of pontoon it generates the numbers into an array and the assigns the values to the labels. this all works great.however the bit that i am stuck on is creating a player turn as each label has a name lnlP1Card1 to lblP1Card5 for player 1 and lblP2Card1 -5 for player 2 etc. I tried to create a set of if statements that checked a counter and then if the counters value matched the if statement the players turn moved to the next player. sample

I was under the impression that any time I set a Nullable(Of Something) to Nothing, it will take the value of Nothing.In a class, I have;

In my page, using this class I set Something = Nothing, but as I step into the Set method, value = 0.0.Am I doing something wrong here? Or do I just not understand Nullable types yet?
It is a word scrambler in which the user must guess the word that is scrambled. It is not completed obviously but the code only works with one form. As soon as I include other forms for title screens and the likes, the code doesn't work at all.Here it is (This is the multiform version):

I am wanting to make a tool where I can load up a previously coded project and then add error reporting to each sub/function.My problem is this: When I open up some forms, the layout is not as desired. Here is an example:The sub header: "Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click" is extended over two lines... (when opened up as text) is it possible in VB settings to change this to be only on one line? Or is there a 'word wrap' feature I can use when viewing text?
View 4 RepliesI have a winforms application that uses a datagridview. When I access the EditedFormattedValue of a cell while it is in edit mode, sometimes, but not always, the whole cell turns black. Is this a feature of the datagridview, perhaps some sort of validation feature I need to turn off? Also, changing the background color doesn't remove the black background for me.

I'm trying to add a string to a listbox if there is none exact string existed inside, but it turns out a very weird error. Look at this.

The output is when I connect the first client, it works fine. But, when I try to connect the second client, it prints out three times both the listbox1 item and the txtDisplay. It's like get caught in loop, but I have tried other kind of loops like for each and other string comparison too, still work that way.

View 3 RepliesI need help to form a code for a small arrays manipulation. The input data are known: they are two integers "N" and "s". An integer "N" is always divisible by 4.I need to create an array of "N" members, by repeating (N/4 times) this sub-array: 1,2,2,1 (always is the same). In the picture, this is shown in blue. Then I need to add the same array to the existing array, but shifted for "s" places (red array). The result is "yes" if each sum in new columns is always the same (3). Otherwise the result is "no." note there is no need to draw or display something (DGV, table ...). The required result is only "yes" or "no".
View 8 RepliesI am trying to create a sort of code library in visual basic where the form displays a list box of certain project files in vb that i have made in the past and when clicked, launches the .exe files of those visual basic program project files.I know it does not work the same way as writing/ reading text files to vb and it seems as simple as 'on click, launch .exe of selected string "vb program 1" and so on. I am having trouble getting started on this one. Im sorry I cannot provide any starter code bc I only have a basic understanding of in/out text files which wont work the same way with .exe
View 1 RepliesI have a database app where on a button click, I export the current record to crystal report which in turns converts it to a PDF file. Upon application startup, I export one record into PDF just fine but when I move ahead to the next record and I click the export button, the new PDF file that was exported is now blank. If I restart the app, I can then export the one record again but any subsequent record will export to PDF as a blank PDF file.
To sum up:I can export one record once using the below code snippet but when I try it for a second time on another record, I get a blank PDF file (only the crystal report formatting is in the PDF).

I tried to make a menu for my game, but when I placed the code into the form loading event, it wouldn't show. Then I placed a button and moved the code into the button click event and it worked. Thus, I know the code shouldn't be wrong. How can you make the graphics( as in lines, rectangle,etc) show up when it starts up?

I had a weird series of errors involving e.Graphics.DrawString() when painting a panel.I am using a barcode font [Code 128] with a library that converts text to the proper format for Barcode readers.That's fine, however, when I draw it to the panel, that's where things stop being fine:But, here's where things get funky. When I put it into a TextBox instead of drawing it via Graphics.DrawString(), everything is peachy:In fact, the TextBox one looks much better than the Graphics.DrawString() one! View 2 RepliesWondering if it is possible. It works on the idea that all files share common code. The program would ideally analyse the source file and compare it to the reference files. It would then find common parts of the code and write it to a rebuild file. At the end the rebuild file and the reference files would then be able to rebuild the source file without it being present.
For Example.
source file code = xxyyzyzyxw
ref file 1 = xyxxzyzxwyy
ref file 2 = zxxwyzzywxx
The program would then analyse these files and make a rebuild file like the following
source(0,1) = ref1(2,3)
source(2,3) = ref1(10,11)
source(4,7) = ref2(5,6) + ref2(5,6)
source(8,9) = ref2(2,3)
Thus you would be able to build the source file using these instructions and the reference files.
I've been working on a project the last couple of day with the help of a lot of you out there. I've more or less finished the design of the interfase, but there are stange this happening with the form. I can say much about what is wrong because I dont understand it, but I would like to. I have added the form Class code and the Designer Code, is that enough or is more required? Theres a msgbox that popup in the form Load event which I placed there to see what I could learn about the GraphicsBuffer.

when i put, for example, a picturebox in form and code some events. then i want delete that picturebox. well the code stills there. imagine that i use another picturebox i use the same name. now if i double click on these picturebox, the code editor recreates a new subs. can i disable these situation?

but if the checkbox is not checked then i want it to wait until it has copied the file before deleting it because at the moment it deletes it quicker than it copies it and the file could be different size everytime so i cant just put a simple timer of say for example 5 seconds in.

I want to copy/paste code from a PDF to Visual Basic 2010 Exppress, but if i paste the (structured in PDF) code to VB, i get 1 long string of code and need to restructure it by entering after each line. Otherwise VB gives me a lot of errors. This is a time consuming work. Isn't there a way, VB puts the code in the right format?
