VS 2010 Intentionally Make A Program Stop Responding
Jun 8, 2012
I am making a process monitoring program for his game server. Occasionally, the programs stop responding. I've used the if process.responding then process.kill la de da, but its not working right. Is there a debugging tool out there i could use to intentionally make a program stop responding?
One of my forms has a few textboxes that are required. If I try to use an if/then statement, the form shows a message box stating the error but then continues and eventually crashes because the textbox wasn't filled out. How to I make the program stop what it's doing if the box isn't filled out?
how to make applications more responsive.I haven't been able to figure out how to make my applications stop having the "Not Responding" business.I've tried delegates and thread sleeping to no avail I don't know if I'm just placing them wrong or what[code].....
I've been working on a program that generates a batch file, then when you press a button, it executes that batch file. There are multiple batch files attached to each item in the list box.
[code]...
The only thing that it does when I press the button, is starts the batch file, then goes to function searchtitle, which executes the batch file again when it finds out it didn't work properly. The button text doesn't change, none of the items are being added to my first list box, and I can't do anything to the window after pressing the button. It constantly opens the batch file every 5 seconds or so.
I am trying to make an application with a start button and a stop button on a stop watch program. These are the codes I am using but my seconds on the stop watch don't start.
Public Form Dim intSecond As Integer = 0 Form 1 Private Dim intSecond As Integer = 0 intSecond +=1
[Code]...
After I write my code and try to run the program, the seconds will not start,
I have written a very simple Windows Forms App. which copies files from my hard drive to my USB flash drive. The app. works ok, but while it is running (copying files) the title bar displays (not responding).I have an idea this is due to the time it takes to do a large copy.
I have two questions:First, I want to add a progress bar, as a visual indication as to how much is left to copy, but I don't know how write the code required for the progress bar when copying say: C:*.* (including all sub-directories)
Second, to stop the (not responding) message being displayed in the title bar. Would I need to run the copy as a background process? If so, how?
I have a program that runs a pretty long operation in the background once a user clicks the button. I have implemented a progress bar but if the window is touched or moved then it grays out and says (Not repsonding). Everything still works and when the operation finishes the program resumes function. (But a user would not know this
Is it possible to make a program intercept and stop certain write requests? I need it to stop viruses from tampering with an antivirus database. If you can, how do you do it? If not, is there another way to stop viruses from changing the database?
I want to make a program that will (by timeing) click continuously until I press the stop button or a key like f12. The only problem is I have no idea and got only how to click from other posts of same concept. This is what I have.[code]Now I want a timer to help it click every 1 2 or 3 seconds, whatever it may be in the text box.
Out of curiosity, is there a way i can make a program stop or pause for a period of time (which i would choose) before continuing the code WITHOUT a timer.I think I've seen this done before, but I'm not positive. Also note that I'm talking about a forms application (not a console app if that would be any different.)
I have written a very simple program to simulate the operation of some electrical relays which respond to buttons pressed on a form. The important thing in the program is the pick and drop times of the relays so I use about 40 timers to simulate the operation of the relays each stimulated either by another timer or the operation of a mousedown operation over an area of the window which has a GIF background.
The program works great when simulated within VB2010 Xpress but when I publish and install on either of my 2 laptops it freezes and does not respond to the mousedown procedures. It seems slightly better if I don't enable XP visual syles but still does not respond enough to be used. I am running 12 procs each time a continous timer runs out but altering the value of the timer does not make any difference. I've also noticed if I minimise the window and reopen the window it does move on slightly but still never responds to the mouse.
Also the timers in the program for the relay times seem to work at strange values and not those set sometimes? It seems to work OK on my main PC if I install it
I am making a mass emailing system that reads off of a xml document and sends an email based on the stored object made from the XML tags. This program will have to send hundreds if not thousands of emails out. I made a test XML document with 160 emails to be sent out to my address. The program gets a (not responding) after about 10-15 emails, (although it keeps sending). Also the email sent counter lable doesn't change at all during the sending, the progress bar works however. Also, when I tried running it it stopped at 140 emails.
' Algorithm ' Show the progress bar ProgressBar.Visible = True
I have a form with 3 background workers. On the click of a button all three start async. Once they all finish my program stops responding. If I run one at a time I encounter the same error.
'Background worker 1 Disableform(Me) Try Dim source As String = _Topsource("[URL]" & gamertag.Text) Dim statstbl As String = source.Remove(0, source.IndexOf("<div class=""statWrap"">")) [Code] ......
I have created a little program that helps me keep track of tons of data by inserting it into sql. I created 5 forms and all 5 can insert data at the same time, but mostly just 1 of these is working continuously. I have noticed that the program will run, then at random times it will stop responding (can't minimize/click on anything/data entry stops), and the only way to stop is to kill the task. I can't even click in the debugger to set a break point when it happens, and setting breakpoints before debugging is useless as the program could run 2 hours and stop, or 10 minutes and stop. 5 forms, they open different excel files, insert data into sql, and repeat.
I am trying to search for the occurence of a string within MS Access database with 1000000 records using VB.Net. The program does not respond once it is run or it is taking a very long time. However, if I reduce the size of the database the program runs.[code]...
I'm using VB 2010 Express Edition(Registered) and after about a week of coding, the changes I write no longer works. Example, when I comment a line it still executes as if it wasn't 'commented'. Even my menus are not showing the right items.
I created a form and have the variable inputs for 4 motor run statements. Then with a start button the script starts and it is surrounded by a for next statement to loop 10 times. It works fine but if i need to stop the execution of the script with a stop button. I put the stop in a new section but of course does not work to do a motor stop. It just causes the exe to not respond till the loop is complete. Just need to be able to stop the Run1_Click button section.
Edit:I do not mind if it finishes the 4 motor run commands and then stops execution of the loop. So need to figure out a way to trigger a stop from a button on the form to stop the cycle. For the future the loop will be a variable integer input so 10 will not be the standard.
Edit::Does a ' Do ' statement sound like the thing to use? If so how and where would I place that? Have a Stop button on the form and it would stop after the 4th motor run command.
#End Region Declare Function InitStp Lib "stp.dll" () As Integer Declare Function RunMotor1 Lib "stp.dll" (ByVal steps As Integer, ByVal interval As Integer, ByVal direction As Integer, ByVal outputs As Integer) As Boolean
Im building an application in vb 2010 which uses window media player component. When I run the application in debug mode and Press Play button, the application hangs up and stops responding. When I press PAUSE button in vb 2010 the line it shows is
An action that I'm trying to automatically complete on a web page requires me to click "Yes" on a JavaScript alert box. Obviously the entire process cannot be automated unless the program clicks "Yes" or "No" for the user. Is there any way that I can capture this alert box and click "Yes" programmatically?
I have a START and STOP button and when the user clicks "start" the program does a whole bunch of calculations and all. However, I noticed that when I was testing the program I clicked STOP the program continues to execute stuff.
My START code is basically a while loop that iteratively does some calculations.
So I just put a boolean variable as the while condition and when user clicks stop its set to false and when user clicks start its set to true. However, when I click stop, the condition is set to false yes but it still executes all the code until the condition is re-evaluated right...so my question is how can I get out of the while loop when user instantly clicks "stop"?
i have a question is it possible to make a program that can self extract it self? EG. i have app1 and i run it and other 2 files are produced.and another program that does the opposite: i have app2 and other files and packs it self into 1 .exe file
i just recently started programming VB.net 2010, My background is PHP so programming is what i want to do.I have a program im making, kinda a project for myself.I have got alot of the design elements made, but im stuck on some of the items that i would like created.
1. I have Combo boxes, the names of them are "wowlocation", "wowreagon". these all have default values. How would i go into the registry get the values and if i change it it would auto put it into the registry.
2. I have a file in foulder named "realmd.***" when i choose my options from the boxes it must put what i selected into the file (The file is a normal txt file with the ext *** only), it has to pull the "wowlocation" and "wowreagon" from the DB, when it does that it is able to pick the right thing to put on,There is only 3 Values, US, EU and WTN, each will have its own text to put into the file, how would i Open that Specific file and then write the values i choose?
3. How do i make a Image Launch a Program? (The location of the file is in the registery, basicly "wowlocation/wow.exe" ?
4. I have a Status Image, i have a spasific IP, I need to check if its responding, if not itll change a image to down.png and if its responding itll change the image to up.png, picturebox name "statusimg"?
how i can making my app in open with list for windows like if i chose my app to open txt file my app will open the txt file like example: ex.txt ==> open with my app and my app with view the ex.txt
I want to make a login system for my program, and i want it to pull the list from an ftp as an text document. (Lets say its ftp.notarealftpsite.lol)
The text document will be arranged like this:
user:pass ipwn:not ilolz:yet
and i want the program to search for the provided username and password in the list and switch to form2 if its found, else it will throw an error at the user.
First let me say yes this is for homework and no, I DO NOT want an answer in code. A simple nudge in the correct direction will suffice.Basically I am attempting to roll the dice with the roll button and then display the number of times a number shows up with a bar graph.
Normally you would move a program around by dragging the bar at the top of the window, agreed? How can you change a form in VB to move around when dragging anywhere on the form apart from a button?
