VS 2010 Process Class RedirectStandardError Crashing Application?
Apr 2, 2012
This is going to be a strange issue and I don't expect an answer,.I'm using Ghost32.exe to image HDDs within a Windows PE environment. With the release of WinPE 4.0, we can now use the 4.0 .NET framework. So in order to capture any errors that Ghost reports, I'm redirecting the standard error stream so I can review it later.
But, when I implement those two lines of code (highlighted below), the application crashes.I've implemented error logging with the UnhandledException event of the application, but it never fires during this error. All other errors fire, but this one does not.So I ran it in normal Windows and I receive the following error:Quote:The system cannot find the file specified
But when I comment out those lines, it opens just fine. So I'm a little confused.
I need to watch onr folder using filesystemwatcher when a file is come in i have to send the file to websservice and recive processed file i done this. my question is if at the time 20 or 30 files come in how to do this 1 by 1 the webservice takes time to process its depends on the file size. so how to process 1 by 1 files correctly without crashing.
An application working fine on Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 (Windows 2003) 32 bit when installed on Microsoft Small Business Server 2008 (Windows 2008) 64 bit crashed with the following trace;SUB: MyApplication_UnhandledExceptionException Type: System.TypeInitializationExceptionMessage: The type initializer for 'IV.modMain' threw an excep
I am writing an application to compare each item on listbox1 to all items on listbox2. If the item is found, then remove it from both lists. The goal is to only have the items that were not found remain on both lists.
The problem is, the application just hangs and I never get any results. I looked at my code several times and I cannot figure out what's going on (programming noob I know.
I need to check and see if I can access a file(the file is in use) So When I try to access it the application crashes. When I can access the file without the application crashing I would like a msgbox to pop up.
well until a few day ago. I don't know what I have introduced to cause the problem but now, whenever I load the project, VS 2010 (SP1) crahes. If I delete the project's suo file, the project loads (really quickly) and all is well until I exitVS 2010. When I re-run it and try to load the project, it crashes again unless I delete the suo file. The program can be built for x64 and x86. Now, when I reload the project (after deleting the suo file), it comes up in Debug - Any CPU mode. I can change from Debug to Release and from Any CPU to x86 but if I try and change from x86 to x64, VS 2010 crashes. This is not always the case though. If I build the x86 version and then switch to x64, all is well and I can build the x64 version. Obviously, there's something wonky going on.
I'm working on an application that will send an email at a certian point.I'm using System.Net.Mail and it works fine when I do a "Debug - Start Debugging". But when I build the application, and run it, it crashes the whole thing when it gets to the client.Send(message) part.[code]
This is an annoying issue that started less than a week ago and couldn't come at a worse time, as I have a major project deadline to meet. At least once every TEN minutes, the program crashes with the error "Microsoft Visual Studio has stopped working" -- it only occurs when I am writing/editing code while execution is paused (Edit and Continue), which I do all the time since I am stepping through rather complex subroutines line-by-line. I literally have trained myself to save after each line of code I write, delete, or change, so thankfully I never lose much, if anything, when I restart, but it is irritating and time-consuming having to set up everything in the program and get to the place in the code that I was before. I have installed VS 2010 SP1, tried deleting the .suo file, and a few other supposed fixes that I came across online, to no avail.[code]...
At my school i have to make a program and im almost done with it but everytime if i dont put any inputs on the program and press calculate it crashes. What should i write in the codes not to crash if all the inputs are empty.
I have two applications. For performing certain functions, i run a second exe, via a process, and wait till it is complete (exited) to continue with my main application. I run through many repetitive functions on different files.Everything runs fine however, when i am doing a run and it is on the x loop number, the main application seems to halt the secondary process exe. I can only assume this is what is happening as, if i close/stop (not pause) my main application in VB, the second exe continues from where it was halted until it completes.
I create a new Windows Forms Application project in VB.NET without changing any of the settings or labels. Then I click on "Add Data Source" and go through the steps in my programming book. Except that Visual Studio is crashing with a message stating that VB encountered a problem...checking for causes...restarting VB.
Sometimes I get to click the "Debug and Run" button before this happens; other times, it occurs before I move all the labels in form from the data source; and still other times, it happens when I click the "Stop Debugging" button.
I have tried removing VB and reinstalling it, but this still is not helping. (If it matters, I'm getting my copy of VB from [URL]
How can I stop Visual Studio from crashing whenever I try to load or work with a Data Source?
- I'm working on a windows forms application (.NET 4.0). - My form contains a 'Fast Line' chart using the Microsoft chart control included in VS2010. - The chart gets filled with about 20,000 datapoints. - My application then starts receiving market data from a server via DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) in real-time and adds it the chart.
Note: I have no control over the server and so I have to deal with DDE only even though it's an outdated technology. VS doesn't support DDE anymore and so I use the Ndde library which works like a charm.
Private Sub StartDDE() 'first we connect to the DDE server: Dim client As DdeClient = New DdeClient("ServerApplication", "Bid")
I' ve got a short question concerning BackgroundWorker. Is it possible to have the main code for the BGW in one class and the long process for the BGW (DoWork) in another class or module?
I couldn't find anything helpful on the internet. Here is my code - DoWork in a separate class doesn't work:
I am working on a small VB application that listens for commands sent from an Android app.
One of the functions is to extract an archive. I am familiar with how to listen for the unrar process to finish, so I can display a progressdialog on the phone while the extraction is happening, and clear it as soon as it's done.
BUT ... if there is an error/alert from WinRAR, WaitForExit() never gets called because WinRAR is still sitting there open until I click "OK" on the MsgBox.
For Example ... if you try to extract a file that is not actually an archive... an alert will pop up saying "No Archives Found", and basically everything is halted on the VB app and the Android app, and the Android app just sits on a progressdialog saying "extracting..." until you manually hit "OK" on the computer.
As you can imagine, this is a problem if the whole point of your app is to NOT have to go over to the computer.
So... I am wondering if there is something similar to WaitForExit() that will wait for an error and allow me to close out the alert and let the process end.
Here's my Sub for the UnRar command:
Private Sub UnRar(ByVal WorkingDirectory As String, ByVal filepath As String) Dim objRegKey As RegistryKey objRegKey = Registry.ClassesRoot.OpenSubKey("WinRARShellOpenCommand")
I am working with saving and deleting images. What i really want to do is check and see if an image exists in the destination folder and if it does automatically overwrite it. i couldnt figure that out so i figured i would look to see if the file was there if it is Delete it then write the new file..The issue is i keep getting this error. The process cannot access the file "FileName" because it is being used by another process. I am looking for a VB.net book that strings me through the entire development process of an application (Prefered: WPF ,LINQ ,ADO). I have read a few books on OOP and VB.net with small code samples demonstrating the specific idea of the chapter.I think it would be really helpful if there was a book that programmed an entire application that uses a sql database (Northwind , Adventureworks).
I'm using Process.Start method to launch another application from my application. Until today, there was no problem. But I have tested my application in a different OS, Windows XP (SP3), and my application didn't work right on that. I'm also using arguments to run that application. I guess for some reason my application couldn't send arguments to other application correctly under Windows XP. Maybe it is related to my code. But you should know, it works great on Windows 7.
Am using vb.net windows application.Application containing one process with for and while loops. When i click on stop button then it should stop processing and it should losd gui.
I am iterating processes using the Process class GetProcesses method. I would like to display information formatted similarly to the way the TaskManager displays it. Where to I get the CPU and Mem Usage data that the TaskManager displays?
Suppose I have this Dim proc As Process proc = Process.Start("Notepad.exe", "C: est.txt") Now, if I want to use Notepad.exe to open another text file (ie. C:2ndTextFile.txt) without closing it, how am I going to do it?
I have written a windows service that is meant to launch a notepad when a specific action happens. The problem i have is that even though the service launches notepad, the actual notepad it self is NOT visible. I know that it has been launced because i can see the process in the task manager. By the way the process is listed as a SYSTEM process rather than a process under my user name (i believe that is because my process is a "LocalSystem" one).
I want to read a number of items from a file and then associate each of those items with a new button at run-time, so that when the user clicks one of the buttons I can display some information about that item. Can I use a LIST to manage these buttons and items? Can I create a new class and have each list item of that class, such as 'btnID', 'btnText', etc... ?
can someone please help me with a textbox? I have created a new class and require this textbox field within a sub in the new class but i get Error1 'TextBox1' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level.I have tried MyClass.TextBox1 = Form1.TextBox1 but I get declaration expected.
I have a dll that someone made me in C++. I needed to use this dll in VB, in order to do that I had to make another dll in C++ that has functions I can call in VB.
The C++ dll I made has 4 functions. 2 callback functions that retrieve information from the original C++. And 2 functions that I can call from VB to send that information.
I know the original dll works fine as Ive tested it endlessly in a console app.
However when I use it with my dll and VB.. I get random crashes.
There is almost no code in my VB app as its just for testing. It just outputs the information so theres no problem there.
I believe the problem is in the C++ dll I made. I am pretty new with C++.I think maybe a variable gets accessed in 2spots at the same time (is this possible?) and causes it to crash?[code]...
My app wont start up on any 32bit PCs. It brings an error. Ive tried all the solutions mentioned like going into Compile and changing the Platform, and other things. I have come to the conclusion it Might just be something faulty with my coding. Here is the only place in my code that could be doing it.
im creating a project on vb and every time i get quite far into it, it seems to stop taking in commands. For example i have form 1 with loads of buttons and wen i add another one and start debugging the new button (or whatever) wont be their, this has now happend three times and im getting very annoyed.
I have access to the source code of a previously created app that work's as designed, but i am looking to update it for further enhance its ability. The change required may be simple in thought and also in design.Basically the app allows you to read in a data file a confirm the data file is in the correct format.Details fo the data file. All lines of the file are 120 characters long. If they are not then there will be an error returned. The fields within the lines have different properties and vaules and the validation on these fileds and lines work perfectly.
1. The first line of the file is always known as a descriptive ( header record ).
2. The next line will outline a detail record. The could be hundreds of these lines.
3. Finally there is a file total record.
A file could be four lines in total or 40000 lines in total. As mentioned the app works when there is one header and total record.I am looking to see if it can be modified. My intention is to merge multiple data files into a single file. There in lies the problem. There is a line in the code as per below.
Do While Not EOF(1)
As far as i can tell this means to go to the end of the file. When there are more than on set of data , there are errors messages generated because the code is looking only for one set of header and trailer records. As mentioned when there is one set of header total records , the apps will validate the file and return any error messages. What i think i need to do is insert another loop/s that say's read data between the header record and the trailer record , if there are any errors display it , then go to the next header / trailer records and display and errors , and continue to do so until you reach then EOF.
