I'm trying to make a slider, or a custom scroll bar, whatever you want to call it, in VB 2010. But I want it to act as an usual scroll bar. I simply can't make it stay inside my form, it just moves around. I have a photo of my code and my designer down the thread. What should I add? I tried to make it stay inside Panel1.

I'm using a vertical trackbar. I got it all set: minimum and maximum values, tickfrequency etc... and so on... everything works great. The only problem is that I would like to have the minimum value of the trackbar on the top. In horizontal trackabar you can choose the RightToLeft property to put the minimum value to the left or to the right, but how do I make it to put the minimum value on the top if I have it in vertical orientation? There has to be a way to somehow "flip" it... but how?
Here is a link to video on youtube, which show my problem. I want it to be the other way round - from top to bottom: [URL]

When sliding the track (horizontal trackbar) it should change the glabel.shadowoffset.X, the other trackbar (vertical) should change the shadowoffset.Y
I tried change the code as followed:
GLabel1.ShadowOffset = (New Point(GLabel1.ShadowOffset.X, GLabel1.ShadowOffset.Y)) = RadTrackBar1.Value
But then I get the following error:
Error1Overload resolution failed because no accessible '=' can be called with these arguments:
'Public Shared Operator =(left As System.Drawing.Point, right As System.Drawing.Point) As Boolean': Value of type 'Integer' cannot be converted to 'System.Drawing.Point'.
Don't know exactly what it means, but my guess is that the value of the radtrackbar cannot be used (at its current state) with the shadowoffset.X

Im having some trouble saving and restoring a TrackBars value to my settings.First of all, this trackbar is controlling a WMP components volume.. That works fine, no problems here, i can control the volume with no problems with this
Private Sub TrackBar1_Scroll(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TrackBar1.Scroll Volume.Text = TrackBar1.Value Form1.RadioPlayer.settings.volume = TrackBar1.Value
End Sub
What i want to be able to is for the application to save the value the Trackbar has been set to, when the application closes and the restore that value when it is launched again. And for this i use Application Settings.

I have a form where i load an image to a picturebox. I open a dialog to prompt the user to grab a file and once that is done i pull the image into a picturebox. Now i want to resize all incoming images but.... because of how it affects my ability to draw lines in the picturebox i am restricted to leaving the picturebox size mode set to normal. So i set out to write a resizing function.
The issue i am having is that eventhough i pass the function an image. I get the Height and with from the image object and it appears that i should be tripping some of my IF/Then statements ... neither Scl or Scl2 ever gets set which in turn keeps nw_height and nw_width from setting themselves properly.
All 4 of those variables stay 0 at all times and im not sure why.

I am upgrading from VB6 and started working with VB.Net (VS2005). One problem I have was controls avilable in VB.Net. I can use a slider bar in VB6, but couldn't find any quivalent in VB.net(.Net Framework Components)!! I don't know why I can choose one in COM components, but these requires project generated DLL's to run. I want to distribute just the executable. My questions are:
-Is there any slider bar in VB.Net Framework Components?
-If there is none, Can I use COM component and bundle everything into one Executable? Also is it possible a list of controls in .Net as I find in vb6: url....

I'm starting work updating an UI for one of my company's applications and I'm running into a sticky issue. The parent control contains several panels, each of which can be turned on or off depending on user input.
The final panel in the user control contains another user control which gets resizes according to a toggle switch. Essentially, it "opens" up more information.
While the child control (ChildControl) is docked to Fill inside the parent control (ParentControl), when I add height to ChildControl I can't get ParentControl's height to get updated as well. Currently I'm handling the ChildControl.Layout event in ParentControl but I can't seem to reach that code. To resize ChildControl, I'm calling Me.Height += 200 in ChildControl.vb.

Is it possible to resize my controls on my form when I run it? The problem I have is that I have created a windows application which has a maximize state on all forms but on some machines my controls go missing (mostly on widescreen laptops). Ideally some way of resizing my controls would probably be best? So is that possible?

If btnExpand.Checked = True Then
Do While Me.Width < 860
Me.Width = Me.Width + 10
[Code]....
the code does what it's supposed to do and the end result is as expected. However.. when I use this code.. my form starts to flicker during the expanding process. I have a custom background set. And you can really see it stretching out as it's supposed to, but the entire form flashes white , black , white , black and I can see horizontal lines between the form aswell. perhaps a command like, System.Screenupdating = false ?

I have 6 bitmaps, all the same size. Their ImageFormat is Format32bppPArgb. Sometimes when I try to resize the bitmaps I get the Out of Memory message. This doesn't happen all the time, only after about six or seven resizes. In Task Manager, the program's memory use never goes above 800k.Is there a way to resize a Bitmap without creating a new one?If I have to recreate the Bitmap, do I need to dispose the current one (or set it to Nothing)?

in my company intranet, there is a webpage with a js slider. While moving the slider, some textboxes are updated dinamically.
I am trying to change the slider value and submit the form programmatically, but the value sent to the sevrer is always the original "step 1".
If I change the value using the usual
document.getElementById("slider").setAttribute("value","2")
the value changes correctly but the textboxes don't change their values and the info sent to the server isn't the value just changed because is made in js to get the current displayed value.
a way to update the value needed to the server, and make all textboxes update dinamycally?

Where is the best place to resize a control on a form when a form is resized?....I'm currently using the Form1_SizeChanged event and seems to work ok. Also is there any need to check in the forms resize event if the form is in a minimized state before resizing controls?.,.. in VB6 if you try to resize a control when the form is minimized you get an error, but I don't see that happening in BV10 Form1_SizeChanged event, does VB10 automatically ignore resizing controls when a form is minimized or something?

What I want to do is setup a form to act like a control panel. When it loads I do not want it to be more than 94px in height but when the maximize button is pressed I would like it to expand the width of the screen. I was thinking I could do this with an "onload" event in the main form but not sure how to do it.

To detect if a usercontrol is being resized in design mode I added this to the UserControl.Designer.vb code....
Protected Overrides Sub OnResize(ByVal e As EventArgs)
If Me.DesignMode Then
' Call a Sub in my UserControl
End If
End Sub
Ok that works, Now do I also need to include MyBase.OnResize(e), if yes then where do I add it?

I'm binding the value of a Slider to an integer property that represents the volume on a networked device. This network request takes a little time (usually <100 ms), and somehow causes the Slider to feel choppy. Here's my oversimplified code to clarify:
Private _playbackVolume As Integer
Private _deviceForDemonstrationPurposes As New Device
Public Property PlaybackVolume As Integer
[code]....
Binding to the PlaybackVolume property will cause the setter to fire while still dragging the thumb. Because of the network latency issue, the slider is locked for however many miliseconds it takes for the request to complete.

At work we have this really old excel spreadsheet with movable points in it.This feature no longer works in '07 so I have decided to try and make a VB form to replicate it's functionality.I have the concept down of what I'm gonna do, I'm using sliders for the movable points and I'm using a data grid view for all of the numbers they are just going to type in, and then I have a button that saves all of the data to the database that it links with.I've figured out how to get everything working except the button that saves the data. So there are 4 separate databases attached to sliders and another one that is part of the data grid view. What am I going to have to put into that button under the click event in order to make it save the values in all of these databases?

I am trying to make a form expand from one size to another using a slider animation.
The problem is when I run it the form resizes but without the animation. I'm not sure how to use the animation when resizing the form. It works if the form is a set size and then I run the animation.
The form is borderless and starts out with a width of 11 and I want the final width to be 285.
The resize and animation are triggered by clicking on the form.
Here is the code.
Private Sub Form3_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Click
Me.Width = mintformmaxwidth
[Code]....
