VS 2010 - Saving Files Location - Cannot Save File To Sub-folder
Jun 3, 2011
I have used the following code too save a notepad file; [Code] The code saves files but only in the 'Application.StartupPath' folder, the save dialogue starts in the correct place a quizzes folder inside the debug folder but files can't be saved here or in folders inside it, even though you can browse them in the dialogue. I want it saving where navigated to in the dialogue.
I'm trying to make it so the the images will save to the folder that you selected in the textbox1.text from the folderbrowser this is the code's I have tried
within my project i need to open and save some files. i wont go into detail as theres no need. what i need to do is open the files from the install directory, which could be where ever the user puts it! i also need to be able to open them whilst im building too. if i hard code the directory in then it will fail..obviously
This seems almost to easy to ask, but I must be missing something simple.I've added a folder in the project explorer, by right clicking>add>new folderBut when I run under debug, I am unable to save to that folder as it's not in the debug folder, I get:"A Generic error occurred in GDI+"In this code, the first line saves the bitmap fine (in the debug folder), the second line fails with the above alarm..
"vb" If Not value Is Nothing Then value.Save(Application.StartupPath & "Image.bmp") If Not value Is Nothing Then value.Save(Application.StartupPath & "ImageImage.bmp")
i want to specify a folder and then have all files from "Temporary Internet Files" copied in to the specified location. I have specified both locations, and yet it fails. I think this could be caused by the fac that the "Temporary Internet Files" is located within a hidden file/s How should i go about copying the directory?
I am trying to generate several txt files- around 100(using a string) and I need to save them in a newly created folder(what i mea is: i have to create the folder too- to be a folder with the name of the current month) and each file will have a name taken from the database.

When I save settings for an application using My.Settings.Save it saves it in %AppData%LocalCompanyname. Because I don't want my app to be installed and I want it to be a just .exe file, and it leaves some files on that computer. I like it to be in my apps location. Can I change that default location?

I am trying to find a way to allow my users to choose the directory to save files into, THe file name is automatically generated as it has a naming convention and i am able to pre program a location to save to but i d like to be able to allow my users to decide themselves which directory they want to save the files to and to have the ability to choose which directory to save to
Ok so i have a program that pulls up all the video files in a video folder. I need a code that will move one of the files in the listbox to a recycle bin i made. But i dont want to replace any of the files in the recycle bin i just want a code to move one file out of one folder and into another. So if there is a code for this then great.
I have the following code used to enter the name of a text file and then display it in a richtextbox. This is working but I would like it so that I could take out the initial part of the filename detailing the location of the filename to simply set it to the project folder, is there any way of doing this using the App.path function?
My code is as follows:
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
The user will enter a folder name in the combobox1 and clicking the create folder button the folder will be created in the applications bin folder; For doing this, i did this
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click If ComboBox1.Text = "" Then
[Code]....
Now when the user enters a file name in the combobox2 and clicks the save button(Save button is not shown in the snapshot) then a .txt file with the name entered by the user in the combobox2 will be created in the folder whose name is specified in the combobox1.
i just want to ask how can i save the file location or directory of a file in mysql without deleting its slashes...i tried to save it directly.. for example: the original directory is c:folderimg.jpg and when i checked it on mysql it is save as c:folderimg.jpg
Currently I am saving data from my applications by saving a text file via a stream reader as a string. I have come to a problem. In my current application, I have an array of the following structure:
What is the best and fastest way to find the exact location(Drive/Folder) of a specific file, without scanning the whole drive. Right now, I am using those two instructions to locate EXCEL.EXE so I can properly call it with a shell command.[code]It is quite a long process, and I have to deal with some access denied folder like System Volume Information. I am quite new to VB programming.
So I'm working on an app that needs to create files on the end user's computer to store info in (mainly text files and HTML files), and I'm trying to figure out the best location to write these files to. I've been reading various articles @ this online all afternoon, and the advice I've read so far seems to be "all over the place".From what I understand, if the end user is not logged into Windows as "admin", then there are a limited number of locations where files can be written to their computer, without them having to deal with UAC popups, etc.I would like my end-user's to have to jump through as few hoops as possible (none, preferably ), so should I only write my files to these specific locations? when I write the files to the end-user's computer, I have 2 different types of info that needs to be stored...
Info "A" is temporary data that only needs to be stored/accessed while the end user has my program open (and this data can be safely deleted each time they close my program).Info "B" needs to be stored somewhere where it never gets deleted, so that it can be accessed by my program for as long as the end-user has my program installed on their computer. So would it be best to store info "A" in the Temp folder, and info "B" in the App Data folder? And for any files that I store in the "temp" folder, do these files get automatically deleted when the end-user turns off their computer, or do I have to programatically delete these files every time my program exits?
I'm using a OpenFileDialog to choose a file from the folder and displaying the path on a textbox. I have another save button, I want when I click on the save button the selected file(the path is currently in the box) duplicates the file into another folder. How can I duplicate the folder and can I use SaveFileDialog?? Here is the codes of OpenFile Dialog. I have t
Private Sub OpenFile_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdBrowseFile.Click Dim myStream As Stream = Nothing
so far the file is written and saved in a very specific location but I can`t figure for the life of me how I would use SaveFileDialog to save the .txt file elsewhere also....
I am trying to retrieve file details from files in the Program Files folder. I receive an error while trying to retrieve file details.
Dim sFileName As String = ("%ProgramFiles%Windows DefenderMSASCui.exe") Dim Info As FileVersionInfo Info = FileVersionInfo.GetVersionInfo(sFileName) Msgbox(Info.ProductName.ToString())
I receive file not found error at 3rd line. But if I change the path from "%ProgramFiles%Windows DefenderMSASCui.exe" to "c:Program FilesWindows DefenderMSASCui.exe" it works fine.
What should I do if I want to retrieve file details from the path which includes a "%" character?
Im working on a way to use a Select statement to set the image of a picture box.
select case currentno case 1 PictureBox2.Image = Image.FromFile(C:UsersValued CustomerDocumentsVisual Studio 2010ProjectsChiroReportChiroReportChiroReportPnt_GuideLAT CERVlatcerv52.jpg)
[code]....
The Select statement should work fine but the path to the file i want to open doesnt. Id love a way to reference the Pnt_GuideLat Cerv directory based on where my program gets installed on the Hard drive.
