VS 2010 Starting A Process With A Command?

I want to launch System Restore through my program. I figured out the destination of this feature in Win7 is: WindowsSystem32control.exe sysdm.cpl @0,4
So I wrote this

Problem is that it will not work if I have anything behind .exe And "sysdm.cpl @0,4" is vital for this to work, otherwise I just launch Control Panel, which is pretty useless for what I want to achieve.
So how do I include commands like those in Visual Basic?

I have this in a VB.NET console application:
Dim p As ProcessStartInfo
p = New ProcessStartInfo(Environment.CurrentDirectory & "injavac.exe",ClassName & ".java")
Dim ps As Process = Process.Start(p)
This does run the java compiler on the file, but it does so in a new window. I want the output from javac to appear in the same console that is running my application. How can I do this? Perhaps there is another method for running commands in the current console? Or maybe I can supress the second console window from opening and redirect its output to the current console?

I am trying to parse data from netsh dhcp commands from my application which will run from remote client systems running windows xp/7. In order to do this, credentials must be passedSo I can currently get the correct data using the RunAs command. However when trying to do it programatically from vb.net it returns data as tho there were no credentials passed.

I am trying to create a program that downloads audio files via FTP, converts the audio to mp2 if necessary and copies them to a certain directory for consumption by our automation system. (I am a radio station engineer.)I am using the open source converter FFMpeg to convert audio files to mp2. This is a command line exectuted program. Here is the command line that I use to execute the external program with the input and output audio files at the root level: cmd.exe /k ""C:New Folderffmpeg.exe" -i "C:Test.mp3" -y "C:Test.mp2"" This command line works correctly whether I am using Shell() or System.Diagnostics.Process (Process) to execute the external program. I am going the Process route so I can know when the conversion has finished.Now, I really don't want to use the root directory for this but when I go below root with this line using Process the external program will not execute:[code]Can anyone tell me why that line will not work with Process though it works as expected with Shell()? I can't figure out how to stop the external program to get some feedback as to what its problem is.

I'm trying to execute a 3rd party application, called from a .cmd batch file, called from a self-hosted WCF service. Like this:
WCF --> .cmd --> 3rd party app
For whatever reason, using the Shell command doesn't work fully. It will call the .cmd file, but the 3rd party app won't kick off (I know the .cmd is firing because I have before/after ECHO statements populating a log file). If I double-click the .cmd file from explorer, the 3rd party app will start just fine. So, I figured, maybe try something besides the Shell command from my WCF service.
So I tried the following code, but it won't kick off the .cmd file at all (echo statements not firing). What am I missing here?

The path in the app.config file is valid (just double-checked). Is there anything wrong with the above code?

I'm trying to read another process's memory starting from mbi.BaseAddress to mbi.RegionSize using the function ReadProcessMemory, however I only succedeed to read 1 address at a time and it takes like forever to finish, the result being stored into a byte() variable, calling the readaddressmemory 1 million times instead of only 1 for example.

I'm using an electronic signature pad for one of my applications. The pad has a Control Panel file which handles it's configuration (image display, etc). I would like to know if it is possible to open the pad's control panel from within VB.NET. I've tried using Process.Start() but can't get it to wok, and I'm not sure if it is a problem with what I'm typing in, or if Process.Start is not what I need to use here.

I am writing an application which needs to allow the user to select and open document files as a new process, edit them, then when they've finished backup the changed files automatically. I have an application that starts one of two external CAD applications depending upon the extension of a file in a ListView. I have been able to start up the application to view the file selected without a problem. I also have a seperate print click event for printing the file that opens the viewer application in the background and prints the file. This works perfectly for one of the CAD viewers but when I select a file that requires the other viewer application to print I get a Win32 exception and an error message stating that the file is not associated with any application and it cannot be opened. This of course is rediculous as it opens fine in the "View File" click event that opens the viewer to check the drawing.
One rather strange observation is that the CAD viewer that does print the associated file will launch the other CAD viewer application (that is associated with the other file extensions) when the "View" click event is handled even though I had not incuded the code to execute the process to start the viewer for that type of file. I realize this rather convoluted and may lie in the ProcessStartInfo arguments that I pass to the application.

I've commented out various things to limit it to specifically this command (example, I can swap mklink out with notepad and it works fine). The command runs fine from a DOS window, but can't be found when I use it this way. I also tried using the SHELL command just to test and I get the same results. No idea why it can't be found, as like I said it executes from the command prompt just fine.

I am working in VB2008. I don't know what process is started when a user double clicks on a folder to display its contents. I am working on an application where I store paths to various folders in a database that is displayed in a treeview. I would like to be able to select a node in my tree and then pass the path to the associated folder to the application which can display the contents of the folder. I need to know the name of the application or process that I am trying to startup to display my folder contents.

I am having a little trouble with my VB.NET program and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction?I have started a cmd.exe process in my vb.net (2008) program however I would like to execute commands for my process (in the same command prompt window created) on the fly. For example (the commands are irrelevant)... on the click of button 1, I would like to carry out the command "cd C:". Once that has finished I'd like to be able to click button 2 which executes "help". (I do not want the commands to execute when the process starts).[code]

I've created a very basic WF Shell project which runs an EXE (xyz.exe) in the WF Shell project's Resource folder. I can get a command line working from the Shell to open the other EXE (xyz.exe). But, I can't get code to close the Shell project's other EXE (xyz.exe) once it is opened. The xyz.exe windows called by the Shell continues to stay open even if I pass a "close" command line to the Shell.
The following code (which Paul suggested in another posting) will not close the other (xyz.exe) EXE's running process (when called by the Shell). While the Shell seems to be able to return it's called subordinate EXE's (xyz.exe) ID, not sure how to use such an ID to close its process.

I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to programmatically determine how a program was exited. For example I'm sure many of you are familiar with the latest malware that detects antiviral software and ends the process and I know we are all familiar with Task Manager's kill process option. The end that I'm seeking is to find out how to utilize WMI, .NET, Win32, or any other Windows feature or programming tool set to determine the source of a process kill command.
Now to be honest I don't want to prevent the kill command from executing, I'm not trying to hinder the user by denying them the ability to end unwanted processes I'm just trying to figure out and document if a users ends a program normally, if TaskMan was used to force kill, or if another program is purposefully interfering.

I want to add a scheduled task like this: Dim myProc As Process myProc = Process.Start("at", "02:00 /every:T,W,Th,F,Sa c:ackup.bat") When I type that command at a command prompt it returns "Added a new job with ID = x". How do I get this ID in my code, as it's needed if I want to delete the scheduled job? I've tried looking at some of the properties of myProc but haven't found the right one yet. Maybe I need to wait until the process has completed? (If so, how will I know?).

I am working on a small VB application that listens for commands sent from an Android app.
One of the functions is to extract an archive. I am familiar with how to listen for the unrar process to finish, so I can display a progressdialog on the phone while the extraction is happening, and clear it as soon as it's done.
BUT ... if there is an error/alert from WinRAR, WaitForExit() never gets called because WinRAR is still sitting there open until I click "OK" on the MsgBox.
For Example ... if you try to extract a file that is not actually an archive... an alert will pop up saying "No Archives Found", and basically everything is halted on the VB app and the Android app, and the Android app just sits on a progressdialog saying "extracting..." until you manually hit "OK" on the computer.
As you can imagine, this is a problem if the whole point of your app is to NOT have to go over to the computer.
So... I am wondering if there is something similar to WaitForExit() that will wait for an error and allow me to close out the alert and let the process end.
Here's my Sub for the UnRar command:
