what I need do is: I have an original file, it can be office word file, or pdf file. In the file, there are some words that are encrypted, so, it reads like: blah, blah, this is the word: xxxxx, blah, blah In my program, I decrpted the xxxxx, now, I want to put it back and generate the new file. How can I do it? for word file, I guess MS office library will work. how about pdf file?

But, I need to convert that SGML to nice, neat MS Word files, with paragraph styles. I need to do extensive searching and replacing. VBA does not have the necesary regular expression support, so, I need to use VB.Net. But, I'm at a loss to do the most basic thing. I just need to know how I can open a Word file in VB.Net.

View 9 RepliesI'm editing jpg metadata and when I'm finished the file is less than half the size but ok, IE I can see modified tags correctly via windows explorer. But if I edit the same file again its down to 16k and corrupted. The image being edited is the standard desert.jpg found in the picturessample pictures directory.

In general, this works great. It does ALMOST everything I need. Unfortunately, however, it also deletes the bookmarks. This isn't a problem with most of the documents, but on one of the documents being created, I need to leave the bookmarks in place, and just change their text. This is because the program needs to be able to go back, in the future, and retrieve the saved values of these bookmarks.
I tried just eliminating the "range" part of it, and just editing the text of the bookmark itself with a "objdoc.bookmarks("PROJECT_NUMBER").text = xxxx" statement, but this doesn't work.

I'm trying to integrate a parental controls feature on my webbrowser. Now, the user creates a text file containing a list of the words they don't want their child searching. Here's an example of what would happen. The list looks like this (I wont use vulgar words):

cat
baby
fish
tree
and the kid tries going to "treeandbabynectar.com". I want a messagebox to come up saying "Site blocked". I want it to be able to detect the tree and baby in treeandbabynectar and realize the text file contains the word tree and baby and block the site. Is this possible? How would I do this?
I need to have two pieces of software, made in vb where one encrypts the contents of a .txt file, and the other decrypts it, and then picks one word at random and displays it each time a button is pressed, but never displays the same word. Or, if there was a way to hard code it into the program as there is only 5 words that would be better.
View 1 RepliesWe have an interactive windows based application written in VB .Net 2010. It uses Word Object to display documents in MS Word. We have a form with a button. When the button is clicked we open the Word document and maximize the Word Windowstate. When we have the Visual Studio Tool running, the Word Document is maximized and has focus, even if we are running the exe from the bin folder outside of the tool. However, if Visual Studio is not running and we run the exe, focus remains on the original form window and the document stays in the task bar.

All goes fine with development and running on development PC, but when I publish it for offline installation, and deploy it on Client PC having Windows XP with Office 2007, it gives error on oDoc.SaveAs2 line, and program crashes.

It returns the word and the scripture the word is in, but it also isreturning a bunch of weird text like: archan78988yykp etc etc. How do I onlyreturn the scripture with the searchedword, in this case the searched word is love. The following code allows words to be added to a listbox. Add the word to a text file and create a folder with the word as its name. The second part undoes the actions.If I try to delete the word immediately after adding it one of two things happen.
1.An error is reported stating the path cannot be found. Although the listbox index value is correct according to the code the error is pointing at that index +1.
2.The code continues to the point of requesting conformation to delete the folder, still pointing at the index value +1. I the action is confirmed the wrong folder is deleted.
However if I stop debugging, then run the code again all works correctly.Is it likely to persist when the application is compiled?

I have a label that is supposed to display a word for 5 seconds and then move down the list in a text file and display the next word.I'm oddly able to make it work in random mode, but not going down the list in order.. random would be ok if used words didn't come up again.

I currently have working code using XMLWriter functions, but the problem is that it rewrites the whole file, deleting anything it didn't write that time around. I know how to get file path but I dont know how to change existing line in myapp.exe.config file. No changes during runtime. Just simple app to change string in app.config file. I would like to enable user to select path to database and store that path in app.config file. Line which I would to change has a string "|DataDirectory|mydatabase.accdb" and i would like to change it with for ex. "C:Myappmydatabase.accdb" ( if it is selected file's path).

But it is not in edit mode (the symbol in the the rowheader is an arrow (select) and not the pen (edit)).When I tab to a textcell I can just type the values. But on the DataGridViewComboBoxColumn I have to press F2 so its in editmode.
