I tried google and forum searches and although there is a lot of info and code, they all come up with similar code and not really what I'm looking for and I start to doubt that it's possible....I think it should, but I'm lost. I want to start Robocopy with a button on a form and then see the output in the textbox, just the same as you would see when you would run it from the command prompt. So in realtime, because if I don't see this, it's just like the program is hanging, which it isn't. It's just copying larger files over and waits until it's finished of course Here is the code I have so far (I tried multiple ways):
I'm working on an application with 4 combo-box's, "go" and "quit" buttons, and a Multi-Line textbox. The combo-box's are prefilled with options for the user to select and I'd like all of the output to come up in the textbox. We are making a data set opossible output responses; it's going to be somewhat of an exhaustive list. When doing the output to the text box using textbox.text = (whatever), is there a way to have more than one line of output displayed in the textbox? I was trying multiple lines of textbox.text =, but only the newest bit of textbox.text = is displayed.
Private Sub btnGO_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnGO.Click g_sport = cboSport.SelectedItem
What iam trying to make is an app that would automaticly start two other applications, where one of them needs a single key pressed as input, and copy some link to the clipboard. The application that needs some keys pressed in order to start is this LINK As you can see it looks like some CMD piece of application. i want the output from that window into a TextBox on my form, but have been unable to do that.Ive tried two methods allready.. The most described and used is the RedirectStandardOutput and RedirectStandardInput methods:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim p As New Process RichTextBox1.Text = "* - Starting Modern Warfare 2 Server Admin Tool"
[code]....
2. This would also store a "log" as the textfile for later use. However the tricky part for me is to:
1. Get the output from the mw2sa.exe window to automaticly update the textfile every few seconds
2. Be able to read the textfile in the textbox. VB tells me its unable to read the textfile as it is beeing used.
To launch the program all i get is a black cmd window.. However, a log.txt file is created with the correct output, but since the cmd window isnt showing any output i dont think im able to use sendkeys to start the program. And if i try with only
Here at work we are looking at different applications to sync data from remote servers to a local server, but each application we try results in some sort of problem which makes the apps useless to us. I thus would like to program Robocopy to do the data sync, but before I start from scratch, I'd like to ask if anyone knows of an existing VB.Net app which runs Robocopy to do the same thing.
Here are my expectations:
* The code needs to run even when the server is not logged on (as a service or scheduled task).* I need to have a log file created for each run of Robocopy saved using the following naming convention "yyyymmdd_<Parent_Folder_Name>"* I need to keep "X" number of log files* I need to prune "X" day/month old log files (to save disk space)* My app needs to run at specific intervals* My app needs to email me either when the copy completes successfully or not (user-selectable)* My app should parse the current log file for errors only and display them to the user saving the user the time required to search for the errors.* My app needs to also record filesystem ACLs.
I have problems with my *.bat file when it is run as administrator on windows 7 with UAC enabled. The problem is that the robocopy command is looking in the wrong directory for the source files. The bat file and a number of folders are placed in the same temporary directory somewhere on a computer and the bat file is supposed to copy all files from one of those folders to a certain folder in the C:Program files....... directory structure.Example string:
I have an activex control (ocx) with the following event Bookmark(pMark As String)How can I call it in my VB application and add its output into a textbox?
Im new to coding and this is my first post . so please forgive me if i end up sounding stupid i've been trying to get output of a for loop into a textbox or label for example
So I'm attempting to get three variable to print in a string, but I can't figure out how to make the Concat or Join commands to work properly. I've tried assigning the strings to a defined string variable and then "concatting" that and trying to do it in one big line. I keep getting an error either way. Here's what I have so far:
I am trying to make textbox1 display the output when the buttons: button1, btn1 and button2 are clicked. I got it working in console.writeline but i want to replace it so that it displays in the textbox.
Public Class Form Inherits System.Windows.Forms.Form Dim oOrders As New Order() Private Sub Button1_Click_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click oOrders.NumBurgers = CType((txtNumberofBurgers.Text), Integer) [Code] .....
I am building an XML string programatically using the XmlWriter ...
sb = New StringBuilder() writer = XmlWriter.Create(sb) writer.WriteStartDocument()
[Code]......
I want to be able to output the XML to a TextBox control on a ASP.NET webform. When I do output the XML I don't get any line breaks or indentation in the XML. The XmlWriter does not seem to have any properties to set formatting. Is there anyway to retain formatting and indentation?
I have a form thats an invoice generator. You type numbers into the text box and it displays totals in the listbox at the bottom. I was trying to make it so that as you typed into the textbox it would update the listbox.
Private Sub txtWBQuantity_KeyPress(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles txtWBQuantity.KeyPress 'This section makes it so that you can not type a letter into the txtWBQuantity textbox
[Code]....
It works kind of, after I hit the next key it calculates the total of the first number I typed then writes the next number, how can I make it calculate the total after I hit the key?
How to grab information from a mysql database and output it to a text box i.e., I have recently inserted name john and then I have a text box that I want the name john to appear in how do I do it? I can successfully connect and insert, update, and delete but cannot select?
Im trying to figure out how to get the output on this code. I have the txtcommission.txt but is not giving me an output in the commission textbox.
Private Sub btnCal_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnCal.Click Dim intSales As Integer Select Case intSales Case 1 - 100000.99
We are going to create a compiler like program where when we inputed character or multicharacter it will retrieve to the database the equivalent symbol of that character and place it to another textbox.[code]...

I'm trying to adapt a VBscript that runs the QWINSTA command against a text file I've defined as an array and displays the results in a text file.after looking at numerous examples on Stack and other sites this is my latest iteration, that displays everything except the STDOUT, which is really what I'm after, not sure if it's an issue with how I'm calling the command piping the output or what. I'm also passing two variables as arguments to complicate matters :)
The Text file that stdout is piped to is empty after the FOR Loop completes I may be going the long way about this, most of my past experience with this is in BATCH
So what happens is. I have this JAVA Code which i am making out of a vb form to help me develop quicker in that. So, when i click "Button1" a formula enhances and gives an output "TEXT" Which i want to choose what lines it shows on my "MultiLine Textbox".
Basically, How do i make it so when i click a BUTTON a text is written in a MULTILINE-TEXTBOX which i get to choose which bits of the text goes on which line.
the example is: ("this goes on line 1") ("this goes on line 2") ect.
I am trying to calculate two columns in a DataGridView. The first column is the points column and the second column is the Rental_charge column. I would like one text box to display the total of points and the second text box to display the total Rental_charge.
Private Sub Rental_ItemDataGridView_CellEndEdit(ByVal sender As Object,
I need to out each line of text to a seperate textbox. or label. Im not sure about a string. Can a string hold a value like, "192.168.1.1 2302"? If so, then how would i output it to a string. If not, textbox or label please. Please keep it simple as possible, since I will probably be needing to repeat this process 500 times, like, a different string for each line, i will have a lot of lines. Dont care about the textbox limit, as long as all the lines are outputted to each textbox.[code]
send the text from a certain line in the hidden console window to a textbox in the form, but I need this output while the console application is still running in a hidden window. Since I am going to have multiple instances of this console application running, I have assigned their processes to an array and each have a separate "hidden" console window. After I launch these applications (with different arguments assign to them), they require no input and will run until I ".kill them" using the GUI.The console application was written in the old C and it's source code scares me.
I am creating this GUI "bolt on" application for it in VB.NET 2005 to clean up desktop space (save me from 30 console windows) and to be able to start, stop, and monitor them from a single clean GUI.Attempted solutions:I have reviewed the information [URL]But again, that just tells me how to capture the output of it after the console application has exited, which I already know how to do and I do not wish to kill the application just to see a certain line of it's output as it would obviously interrupt what it is doing.
I want to run some dos commands (eg: a ROBOCOPY) and show the output from this realtime in a text window to show the user something is happening. The command may take a number of minutes so it's important the output is showing in the VB application realtime, and not just all at the end. Obviously the user will wonder what is happening during this time.
