What would be the code to validate a textbox so that it can only accept positive numbers and a decimal point? If no value is entered, it automatically enters 0.
I have this function which evaluates the contents of a textbox (or combobox or maskedtextbox) control and, in conjunction with a KeyPress event, will either allow or disallow the input. It is quite useful for dates or textboxes for which only numeric input is valid. It allows a set number of digits after a single decimal point, if specified in the function call. It also allows the backspace character if the textbox is full.
I would like it to allow me to input what would otherwise be valid text when the textbox is full but one or more characters are highlighted (and would therefore be replaced by the keypress character.
I am using many text boxes in a form. How do i validate them, In certain text boxes I have to use only text and in some I have to use only numbers. Is using ASCII is a right method or is there any easier method to do this. If so please let me know the coding.
I am starting out in Visual Basic.Net and need a bit of assistance.I am creating a Windows form (not controls). In this program, I am attempting to validate 2 different text boxes BEFORE the rest of the controls can be validated. For example:I have an authorTextBox and titleTextBox, which the authorTextBox MUST have some user input BEFORE the user is permitted to move onto the titleTextBox. (the user input can be fake like "John Doe", the point is to force the user to input something). The instructions that I was given is not very clear on how to code this properly in order to have the form show an error message requiring the user to input something in both textboxes before they are permitted to move onto the other controls.
I have text box where scores are to input between 0 and 100, they user also needs the option to enter a text word such as bye or BYE. I having problems getting the validation to work here is what i have so far please let me know what I'm doing wrong.

Now i want to show currency text into textbox equivalent to that database field value. In short i want to convert 155.75 into "one hunded fifty five dollars and seventy five cents". Here 155.75 is decimal value from database field and one hunded fifty five dollars and seventy five cents" the converted textbox value. I have a private function in my module for conversion. but i m not getting idea how to implement that function on reportviewer or how to call that function to convert as i want.

I am new to vb and need some help with this change program. The idea is that we are given a certain amoun of change and then telling how many dollars, quarters, dimes, nickles and pennies. I thought I would convert the decimal to an integer and then use a while loop for every text box, i.e. dollars, quarters, dimes, etc.., to show how many of each, but the while loop is confusing for me in vb, but to tell you the truth I don't know if I am on the right track,

I have a series of text boxes with numbers. They are an array called txtBF(0 to 16). I am trying to take the value that is to be displayed in the text box and make it have only one decimal place. I have tried using this code below but I keep getting an error message Run Time Error 13: Type Mismatch.
txtBF(11).text = Round(txtBF(11).text, 1) and I have also tried this txtBF(11).text = Math.Round(txtBF(11).text, 1)
