For example, to calculate this:(22 ^ 29) Mod 57Supposedly there is a way to get around overflows and do these calculations, but I can't find much online. Now, the person who said this was doing VBA in Excel and said that there was about 4 lines of code which could handle the overflow so it wouldn't happen.

Any simple way to add commas to large numbers (example: instead of "123456789" as my text converted {and loaded into a text box} output of a calculation, I want to see "123,456,789")?

This piece of C# code does not produce any overflow exception.wordsize is a constant equal to 32.the x and y can be very big at the computation time. So big that long or decimal even cant hold. But C# handles the problem even the value of the variables exceeds its limits.The computation gives thr right result.(I dont know how it does it)

I want a method of dealing with very, very, very big numbers (potentially a million digits). It is very cumbersome to deal with very big numbers in VB, would another language perhaps be better for that?

I am currently trying to create a program to list a large group of numbers for me. My final goal is to have every 2, 3, 4, ..., and 9 digit number containing only "1" "2" and "3". I thought I would go about this by using the following VB.NET program and then copying it into a text editor, and using find & replace to eliminate all other numbers.
Public Class Form1
Dim Start As Integer = 333333333
Dim Counter As Integer = 333333333
[Code].....
it fails due to the massive amount of processing that needs to take place. However, adding the intervals requires a great deal of time for each number to be displayed without any crashes.
Is there some way (in VB.NEt or another language) to get the number list I want in a short (an hour or less) amount of time?

I need some guidance on a little program I'm making (one that I thought would take a couple of hours from start to finish, it's been days now ...) that determines all of the proper divisors of any given number up to the maximum value of a UInt32.

I need to count a large amount numbers in short time.As a result the CPU jumps to 40-60% on 4-core PC.Which is extremely high.I have any idea that will lock up the thread for some time, but not actually slow or reduce the amount of files that are allowed to be counted per a giving time period.
Vb.net
Application.DoEvents()
Threading.Thread.Sleep(1000)

I am using Virtual Basic with ASP.NET in Visual Studio 2008. I am using Webmethod to communicate from/to the server with the client. Data can be queried and returned in small amount, but when I try get a relatively large amount of data, it's returning me a Server 500 error. I use the following Rijndael code to do encryption without fail for many times. But why it can not encrypt an ISO file with 4.2 GB? In fact my computer has 16GB memory and it should not be a memory problem. I use Windows 7 Ultimate. The code is compiled as winform (.Net 4) using Visual Studio 2010 (a VB.NET project).
I have checked that the ISO file is OK and can be mounted as virtual drive and even can be burnt to DVD rom. So it is not the ISO file problem.My question: Why the following code cannot encrypt an ISO file with size of 4.2GB? Is that caused by the limitation of Windows/.NET 4 implementation?

I am uploading a file from a C# application to an ASP.Net website, both written by me so I have access to the code.But, it is working for a text file (1KB) but not for a MOV file (77MB).
In both cases, I am using UploadProgressChanged to get the progress. The TXT file goes to 100% while the MOV file goes only till 50%. When done, I only find the TXT file saved on the server but not the MOV file.
Why is this happening? How can I get it to work?

I recently wrote a program that collects information from the network can displays it in a DGV for the user to see. I tested this on networks where I would end up with several thousand items brought back and all worked fine, very little memory increase and once the search had finished the memory usage went back to pretty much what it was before the search, so I assume I have no major memory leaks that I should be concerned about (I'm careful to always dispose of things and clear large variables where possible).
However, a new company has now started using my application and they have several hundred thousand items that my program will find. They reported that they leave the program running its search for a few hours and most of the time it crashes with an Out Of Memory exception. Now I did have my app do some caching of certain information to avoid querying the network more than was necessary so I thought well maybe this is what is causing it but I added an option to turn that off and they say it still happens. So the only thing I can see it being is simply the amount of data that the program is finding and having to store in memory.once my application has gathered information about the items it stores them in a List(Of MyItemClass) and then when the search is complete the items are added to the DGV. So I'm thinking maybe its just the size of this List(Of MyItemClass) that is simply getting too large. Bear in mind that each instance of MyItemClass in this List can have quite a lot of information in it as it has several properties that are List(Of String) that may contain a few thousand strings in some scenarios.How do you deal with such large amounts of data without running out of memory?I'm assuming the only option I have got is to 'page' some of the data to a temporary file on disk once I get over a certain number of items in the List(Of MyItemClass)?

I've been messing around with prime numbers for a while now, but I now want to use massive numbers, say a few million digits in length. Is there a way of storing and performing mathematical functions with such large numbers? Is it even possible on my home computer? I read on another old thread, something about a big number library, but the links he gave are now dead.

With the shape of really large characters such as numbers and alphabetic characters + others, is there a way to get that shape as a REGION please?Imagine a really fat snake forming the letter S or two rectangles placed together to form a large letter L or a T like the shapes in TETRIS.
1) Does anyone know of anything in VB.Net that can translate such shapes into a System. Drawing.Region or know of a project elsewhere that achieves this please?
2) While I'm on the subject, how would you SCALE UP / DOWN a System.Drawing.Region please? How would you work out the Transform Matrix required please?

I want to write a program to do Markov chain, but my states are quite large. First of all I calculate all the transition probabilities and revenues for all states(1381860 total states), and store in a multidimensional array. Public RevArr(0 To 9, 0 To 750, 0 To 282) As Long
After that the iteration of markov chain should use these as inputs to calculate the steady-state probabilities. But when I try to run the main code I got this error.Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.
The following is the declaration of second array I add just another dimension for storing all the iterations, but I get this error. Dim stateprob(IT + 1, 0 To 9, 0 To 750, 0 To 282) As single

Im trying to write a program that will do:
1.The average of the four numbers. This answer will be placed into a text box reserved for that value. This text box cannot be changed by the user.
2.The maximum and minimum values. These will be denoted by changing the color of the largest number green and the smallest number red.
3.The range of the numbers. The range is defined as the difference between the largest and smallest numbers. The range will be placed into its own text box, labeled as such. This text box cannot be changed by the user."
Im using visual studio 2008 and it has to be written in VB

So how would I use .next (random numbers) to randomly select something from a list of numbers but it can't repeat the number?I could do:
dim num as integer
dim r as new random
num = r.next(1,5)
if num = 1 then
elseif num = 2 then
etc.
That wouldn't work because it would repeat.If I donwload someone's game can I disect it in VS? :0 I tried going to open project, then I went to the folder and clicked open. It brought me inside of the folder so I tried to open the game but there is no form1 there. It says the games name then .exe in the explorer-like thing in the top right?Also, how would I have a value or something in a label and access it from a button.
Example:This is in a label.
Dim number as Integer
number = 0
Then in the button do
Label.number = 0
How would I do something like that? I want to use that a lot as I did in a different language.

I am making a program, where the user enters 6 numbers in 6 different text boxes, and it displays the larger of those 6 numbers. But I also want to make it where if the user enters a string value (like S for instance) in the text boxes, it gives an message and says "please enter the numbers again" and the user gets to enter the 6 numbers again. But when I do try to do that, it gives an error message saying conversion from "w/e the user entered" to Double is not valid. If the user just enters the numbers, it works fine. However, I am trying to make it if the user does enter non numeric value, it gives a message window and the user can reenter the numbers again.
Here is my code Example
CODE:
This is where I am trying to use IsNumeric to show a message if a user does not enter a string so the user can renter the numbers again, but when the user does enter a string value (say in textbox 1) it gives me an error message saying conversion from "S" to 'double' is not valid.
CODE:
Then right here this is where I have my series of ifs statements, this part works fine, it displays the largest numbers of the 6 textboxes every time. Error free.
CODE:
And do this with variable number 2, 3, 4, 5.
I know there are easier ways to do these with arrays and stuff. But I am not there yet. I am still learning about ifs and stuff.

I have just about completed a .NET project to write a program to randomly select numbers for a Bingo caller. Over the last month or so Ive learned a lot about .NET but heres something that I consider to be odd and maybe one of you guys can offer an opinion.
One of the features of calling Bingo in a small local club is that callers often use little sayings to accompany certain numbers, I expect youve all heard of (say) All the sixes, clickety click for 66 or 5 and 9 the Brighton line for 59 etc. My little program gives an option to incorporate these with a prompt for the caller that can be edited outside of the program. One of these conventional sayings is used when a number is reversed 12 followed by 21 or 45 followed by 54 for example, when the caller might call (say) 1 and 2, one dozen, number 12 And the other way round 2 and 1, twenty one.
So, I programmed in a bit of code to detect this and to over-ride whatever might otherwise have been the quote with And the other way round and set about testing it. Ive been through literally dozens of full 90 calls watching for the occurrence of a reversed number, spent a few hours doing it, and not once has it occurred which is to say the least, unusual.
So, Im wondering about the Rand Function, could it be that it isnt possible for a reversed number to be selected? Just so you know, I randomly pre-select the order of all 90 numbers, I fill each of the 90 elements of an array with a random number first checking that the number selected hasnt already been stored, if it has, I just get the next random number (and check that too of course), but I cant see how that could prevent reversed numbers being selected, especially in light of the fact that frequently it's not the 'next' number that's used.
