I am trying to create a locked down browser for the employees at my work to use at a kiosk. I need to prevent the user from getting out of the app. I have figured out how to prevent them from closing it by pressing alt-f4 or ctrl-f4 but I would like to also prevent alt-esc, ctrl-esc, alt-tab, and the windows key. I am new to windows application development but have experience in web vb.net. I am using VB.NET 2010 express.

View 4 RepliesI have been reading up and trying to understand the difference viewstate and session and as i am only storing a database id i believe i have settled on Viewstate.
Am i right in saying that a viewstate never expires until the browser is closed? One of the issues i have with Sessions is that sometimes the people completling my websites forms can take and age to do so and the session can expire.

What will happen to the datareader when the Connection is closed ( Conn.close)
Will the Cursor that is used by the datareader be freed ? or will it stay open ?
If the cursor that is used by the datareader is still open , when will it be automatically closed ? or should i just closed it manually ?
Will it cause the dreaded "ORA-01000: maximum open cursors exceeded" ?

convert the code to be used in a browser with tabcontrol? I tried, and it works with one that DOESN'T use it, but I want to use it with my browser with tabcontrol. And, I have read ALL of the ones previously given to other people.
I've just finished making a web browser suited for my personal use, but when I click on a new link or something it opens a new window in Internet Explorer - which gets extremely anoying.. Is there a way to make all links open up in a custom browser?

I coded a web browser over the course of a year called Nova - very advanced with tabbed browsing, bookmarks, homepage, history, etc etc etc etc. I could go on all day about how advanced it is. But.. there is one flaw. You cannot make it the default browser; I don't know the code!I already know the CommandLineArgs stuff so it actually opens the HTML file rather than just opening the program; in fact, I already can make files open with Nova completely. It's just the other stuff - you know, when a website is to be opened from a help file or something, it opens with Nova, Windows recognises it as the default browser, stuff like that.

The first being that I have a textbox for my address bar and I want it to do a few things, I want it to expand when i set my browser to fullscreen , be able to press enter when typing in it and it will take me to that webpage and for it to show recent history... (i know it seems like a ton of expectations mainly i would like the first 2 the third is not as important) So i dont know how to do any of that...
I also would like to know how to go about making new tabs on demand and not have a bunch of tabs just sitting there...

I have been searching a lot online but couldn't find a solution for my problem. I want it to refresh every certain interval of time without this message to display. Now Ican't minimize my program because I'm putting an automatic Sendkeys.send("{Enter}") after the refresh to get rid of that message by clicking on "Retry".And If I minimize it the Enter will be executed on the active Window, which might be any other Window.

I am new to vb 2008, but I know how to automate some html elements. I can't understand it, it's called and operates fine for the first 10 iterations and on the 11th throws and error. There is nothing special about that line in the log file.

I have a Visual Studio 2008-SQL Server 2005 app that will be throwing alot at it. It's my testbed learning app. I'm also a student of this craft(43 years young) like another poster posted on another thread. I come from a PICK/BASIC jBase background. Anyway as-is my app has a connection to the database that is opened on form load. I close the connection on form close. It's a one form app currently. Is this wrong? It seems that maybe I should not have a connection opened possibly all day. I'm looking into incorporating Datasets, dataAdapters into my next phase of evolution. I looked at the material and it's tough. For me anyway. But I will get into it. I will fetch the data into a dataset so that I can keep the connection open only for a little while. I am making the interface controls on my forms to go from right to left using with RightToLeftLayout and RightToLeft which I have set the properties set to true.
