I've never use a .net WB control before. When navigating to an internet web page I kind of assumed the firewall would block it or pop up a dialog telling the user that someapplication is attempting to access the internet.
View 1 RepliesVB2005. In my application I am required to go to a website, collect info, and then display both the webpage and the info collected. For this I am using the System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser component and have it working faily well. The only thing now is that in order to get to external websites the company requires us to login to the firewall proxy server. For example when I visit [URL] a login box pops-up for our firewall server [URL] and I sign in with ID 9999 and password "pass". I am trying to programatically do this with the WebBrowser by using the credentails but have not found any relevant examples. Is this possible with the System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser component?
View 2 RepliesI am trying to control the security board using the Windows Firewall which connects to my server that was made in VB.Net. My only problem is when I open the Windows Firewall my server crashes. It also displays this error: "Error, win%fir%90y4e does not support this server. upgrade you version of Winsock.". So I upgraded myself to the latest Winsock that there is out there. After doing so I try again and my server still crashes, but this time with a different error. The error this time was the following: "Error, no client is available for win%fir%90y4e. try again later.". What do I do?

If you click folder it opens new folder contents in WB window but if you click html document it opens in EXTERNAL viewer.
How do you get html document to open in WB while exploring ?
I am writing a few web based apps which will require a webbrowser extension. I have already used the IE webbrowser control that uses the trident web rendering engine. I believe this is MSHTML.DLL? Anyway, some of the users of my programs have complained of a few things. Particularily,
1. It seems to be a slow browser, at least compared to other rendering engines out there (webkit and gecko are 2 known ones).
2. On the developer side, it seems to be low in features. The features are sufficient in most cases, but there are some "special" things that I need.
3. It has VERY low HTML (and especially HTML5) compliance.
My question is, how much work would it take to use a different engine (such as webkit .net, which I HAVE heard of) and be able to distribute it easily. Or, if you guys feel ambitious, we could try writing a brand new engine ourselves. I know how big of a job it is, and frankly, I have no clue where to begin. I would just like your thoughts and opinions on the matter.
i have created an app to load an access database into a datagridview, which contains web urls. When button is clicked it webbrowser1 navigates to each url and each webpages document.inertext is put into textbox. This all work fine but after a while the webbrowser navigation becomes increasingly slower.

Ive tried to edit option on the webbrowser control, example javascript enable/disable. but found out that it uses IE's option and cannot be changed.So my question is: Is there a way to do a "webbrowser" without using the WEbbrowser control that is based on internetexplorer? If it is, can i change option example flash and so on?
View 6 RepliesI have a regular application form with a WebBrowser control.I have strung together a .htm file (from a regular text file) which I then assign to the WebBrowser control. In the html file, I have filenames mentioned.I am trying to string together the html in such a way as to give a clickable link or button that will parse into html and open the corresponding file in another WebBrowser control in VB.I have tried using VBScript and JavaScript to put a button in the html.As long as the function or sub I call is also in the same html document, it works, but I really need to transfer the control back into visual basic where I can do the heavy lifting I need to.can I just not do this as a regular VB application? Any way to do it without adding the complication of requiring ActiveX?

View 3 RepliesI get EMails from my firewall router for any alerts (when they occur) as well as the complete log (every day at 4:00 AM) - I have been saving the logs manually by copying and pasting the EMail body into a text editor and saving. I started on a VB project and have run into a bit of a snag.

Me and my friend both wrote an app to send emails, same code. When I run my app, I can let it send an email. When I run my friends app, the firewall blocks the outgoing emails. Is there any way to let the emails send from my friends app, by changing code or so? I don't want to add it to the whitelist of the firewall.

I built a WCF service that exposes itself for a web application, it accepts an object and prints the data on the clients machine. Works fine on my development machine, and the service is up and running on any machine i install it on. I can enter ip address in clients machine web browser and see it is running. Problem is when i send the object to the clients machine it returns an error, that sounds like it could be because of the clients windows firewall. Where would i start at to deal with this problem ?There was no endpoint listening at http://192.168.1.168:2202/PrintLabel that could accept the message. What I need now though is how to capture the actual traffic coming from the firewall on the network. It uses UDP port 514 to send it.
