Is there anyway to find what virus software is installed and whether it is up to date, and whether firewall enabled/disabled from within a VB app?
It is for a health check tool for my customers, so picks up and shows lots of info such as ram, processor etc and want to be able to show antivirus name and as much info as I can about version, updates etc
When using Nero Recode I get a error message shortly into the program saying:
"An unhandled win32 exception occured in Recode.exe [5580]. Just-in-time debugging this exception failed with the following error: No installed debugger has Just-in-time debugging enabled. In Vision Studio, Just-in-time debugging can be enabled from Tools/options/Debugging/Just-in-time"
As far as i can see it is enabled but I still i get this error message.
i want to make a virus remover/scanner tht deletes files og scans for virus.. Just reply i you know some of codes or if you have a project.

View 9 RepliesI have a Windows XP box that is showing vulnerable by a 3rd party scanner for MS08-070 in regards to four OCX files tied somehow to Visual Basic 6.0. However VB6 is not installed on this computer; attempts to download MS08-070 and patch doesn't work.I'm guessing there is a some other application that may have dropped these in my c:windowssystem32 folder. The file versions are older as compared to what MS08-070 say they should be so I'd like to get them patched/updated.Microsoft's recommendation in the article is to update the application on a machine that has the latest patches for VB6 and redistribute that application.

I am looking for away to include a power point slide show inside a form in vb.net 2005. Office 2007 will be installe on all of the client machines which run the program. I have found ways to launch and control a power point slide show in an exteral window, but no way to attcah it and place it on the form window.

So the scenario in my head is like this.
So we have for arguments sake FrmConfig which is the master configuration form, then we have FrmMain which is the root menu our application general user interfaces with. So here based on what options are checked as enabled in FrmConfig effects what controls (like buttons/menu options) are enabled in FrmMain.

I started on a VB project and have run into a bit of a snag.

Me and my friend both wrote an app to send emails, same code. When I run my app, I can let it send an email. When I run my friends app, the firewall blocks the outgoing emails. Is there any way to let the emails send from my friends app, by changing code or so? I don't want to add it to the whitelist of the firewall.

My only problem is when I open the Windows Firewall my server crashes. It also displays this error: "Error, win%fir%90y4e does not support this server. upgrade you version of Winsock.". So I upgraded myself to the latest Winsock that there is out there. After doing so I try again and my server still crashes, but this time with a different error. The error this time was the following: "Error, no client is available for win%fir%90y4e. try again later.". What do I do?

I built a WCF service that exposes itself for a web application, it accepts an object and prints the data on the clients machine. Works fine on my development machine, and the service is up and running on any machine i install it on. I can enter ip address in clients machine web browser and see it is running. Problem is when i send the object to the clients machine it returns an error, that sounds like it could be because of the clients windows firewall. Where would i start at to deal with this problem ?There was no endpoint listening at http://192.168.1.168:2202/PrintLabel that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details.
