If the user chooses to save over an existing file, I want to essentially delete the file first, then re-create it and save to it. Basically, I don't want to append to the file. I want to completely overwrite. However, I am just running into all these snags. It basially deletes the file as soon as the savefiledialog box opens. before, it would simply append. [code]

I have pretty much all of the funtions I want for the application itself, but I want a code that will help me understand whether it has been saved to the computer already.For example, just like in notepad, where you can open a .txt file, and if you don't modify it, it won't prompt you to save on application.exit(), but if you do modify the file in any way, it will ask you if you want to save, and it will automatically save over the opened file without popping up a savefiledialog.
I want my application to do the same thing, and also with any files that I save. For example, when I save a new file, after it prompts me with the savefiledialog, and I save the file to a directory, on my next "save" not "save as" I want it to recognize where it previously saved the file to overwrite it without prompting me with a savefiledialog like "Save As" does.There must be a code to recognize where it was last saved, or opened, but right now my default directory ("Initial directory") for both the open and savefiledialogs are set to the C:/ direcotry.
I have a workbook (Workbook1) that runs through some steps using visual basic, which ends up opening another workbook Workbook2). Once Workbook 2 is opened, I need to copy a section of data from it, into Workbook1 int a specific worksheet. I was able to do this by recording a macro, but the challange is, the name of Workbook 1, and Workbook 2, will vary by User. When I created the macro it uses the files as they are currently named. I need to create a message box that pops up and says "I am looping, do you want me to continue" with a Yes or No option. If user answers "Yes", I need to continue the loop with another message box with the same question. If the user answers "No", stop the loop.
I have tried this over and over and I get it to the point where if I click "NO" the first time, the message box goes away. but if I click "yes" the first time, no matter how many times I click "NO", the message box will not go away.

I have a list of 100 assets that are pulled from AS400 and shown on a gridview alongside a dropdown box with 6 possible status and a textbox.
If the user selects a status other than "Found" (whether it's "Not Found", "Scrapped", "Sold", "Transferred","Other"), the user cannot leave the textbox empty. They must insert a comment into the textbox. Once the user is done he clicks "Save" and if, let's say, the status is "Sold" and the textbox is empty for all assets then a Message Box pops up saying "Please fill the textbox".
The problem is, the message box pops up 100 times (or once for every asset that has the error).
1) What can I do so that the message box only appears once even when 100 assets have the error?
2) Also, when the message box appears and I click "OK" the information the user had filled up to that point gets erased.

[code] The message box pops up like it is suppose to, when you click ok the open file comes back up like it is suppose to. When you put in the correct file the message box comes back up again. Also the message pops up even if the correct file is put in the open file. but if you close the file dialog the image is where it is suppose to be.I believe the code for the public sub wrongfile is what is the problem. can some one look it over and let me know what changes are needed.

I have found a way to build a playlist for it but it would be helpful if I could save the contents of TextBox1 to a text file without using the save as. I am trying to get over a user inputting a file name for the finished text file so is it possible to write the file c: est.txt without using the save as dialog? I have found that I can use a vbs program file which creates a playlist in a folder. I save the vbs file text to the textbox then save it as a vbs file in the playlist directory, then execute the finished file to make the playlist.

I'm using the FileSaveAs dialog control to allow the user to select a filename to save a file either as a doc file, an rtf file or a pdf file (that part was easy).However, after a bit of testing, it seems that the file extension doesn't automatically change when selecting the different file types.If the filename in the dialog is Foo.doc and I select FileType *.pdf and click "Save", my app still tries to save the file as a doc type.Virtually every other MS app automatically changes the extension to match a selected file type from the Office Suite to Paint. here's my code:
