Jan 31, 2009
I created a listbox using VB code. There is also paths created using lines. A smaller thumbnail which allow user to choose the different path is also included in my application.When the window load, a default path will appear. [code] When the user select Item1 and click on a thumbnail, the path will appear. And when the user select Item2, the default path will appear again instead of the path that the user select for Item1.

Using ofdlg As New Windows.Forms.OpenFileDialog

I am creating a program that requires the user to click a checkbox and then select a date in a Date Time Picker Control. There will be up to 20 entries. I need to know how to take all of the dates entered and display on a different form the latest date selected by the user from all the entries on a form. All the options will be training selected and when the last training item is selected and a date entered I need to be able to output the training completion date which will be the latest date entered in the form.

How can I make a program so you click a button and select a File using a OpenFileDialog and click send on your computer and it will send the file to a different computer and then a SaveFileDialog will show asking where to save the file on the other computer. Oh ya I cant use WinSock or whatever becuase im using Windows Vista 64 Bit. I need it because I for some reason cant use printer sharing. It might be because im on A 64bit Vista Machine and I want to print a file off of a 32bit XP Home Machine.

IT STILL GIVES A MSGBOX IF I SELECT THE CHECKBOX BOX OR NOT ....My code below will redirect to Google in both conditions: If the user selects the checkbox, then it will redirect to www.google.com, but if a user forgets to check the checkbox then it shows the msg box with an ok button. When I click on ok it should redirect to www.google.com
I want When a user forgets to check any of the checkboxes to show a msgbox with an ok button and stay on the same page. Otherwise if user selects any of the checkboxes then redirect to google

I'm currently writing a program that needs to open a file specified by the user, replace a certain string of text with a different string of text, and save it to the user-specified path. Here's what I have so far:
Private Sub forceButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles forceButton.Click
Dim writer As New IO.StreamWriter(OpenChart1.FileName)
Replace("", "E *", "N 5 0")
End Sub

Ok, so I'm at the point where I'd like to publish my app and see what problems may arise while it "runs" normally after an installation. I've never actually published an app before or deployed one.I have VB 2005 Pro and was assuming there was some kind of "upgraded" publishing feature over the Express edition, but they appear to be the same. When I publish, I am left with a folder that has these files:
[code]...
when I double click the setup file, it gives me the option to install, and I do. I can not select an install path or anything though. The application is running fine.What I'm curious about though is I have databound controls in the application with an Access DB file as a resource. Once I install the application, where do I go to manually edit the .mdb file? and where is it installing my App too? It also creates some text files which I can't seem to locate either.So what's the normal procedure for building a project, specifying output path etc, and providing the end-user a "nice looking" (read not default) setup/installation screen?

I have a vb.net application that uses Flash movies (AxShockwaveFlashObjects.AxShockwaveFlash). I have buttons in the flash movie. When they first start using the application, they can single click on the buttons in the flash movie and button responds accordingly. But after a while (and I haven't been able to pin-point an exact thing that changes it or my issue would be solved), the user has to double-click on the button in the flash movie for them to work.

I am working in VB2008. I don't know what process is started when a user double clicks on a folder to display its contents. I am working on an application where I store paths to various folders in a database that is displayed in a treeview. I would like to be able to select a node in my tree and then pass the path to the associated folder to the application which can display the contents of the folder. I need to know the name of the application or process that I am trying to startup to display my folder contents.

im creating an array that contains something like this [code]Then i need to make it so when i click on a listview item it searches for the same "Application" name and shows the path.I have everything planned out, but im not sure what i should use to do this.Should i use list(Of string), arraylist or just string(,)?I have no idea of the amount of elements it will contain. I was thinking of using a list so i can use .find without having to make a search function.Anyways, what would be the best/fastest way to do this? Its possible i might have up to 1000 rows in this array, so i want something fastish.

I'm writing a program that checks processes (when they start), and kills any processes that aren't acceptable. My program is mostly done, but I only just ran into a problem: when I try to get the path (one of the criteria) of a process running under a different user, (MainModule.FileName) I get an exception:
System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception occurred
ErrorCode=-2147467259
Message="Access is denied"
NativeErrorCode=5
Source="System"
[Code] .....
Now, the program doing the checking is running with complete administrator privileges, so I can pretty much wrangle any permission I need. How can I obtain the path of the process? (I can use WMI, by the way, I've already used it for another part of this).

VB2010. I'm trying to figure out how to locate the desktop path for a user on another pc/server. Something similar to:
Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.Desktop)
The main reason is we area talking about an Environment that has XP, Win Server 2003 (TS), Win Server 2008 and Win 7. Obviously different path depending on the OS. I need to copy a file to a users desktop and would like to do so without having to hardcode the path as it could change depending on where they are working from.

I'm am not primarily a visual basic programmer however I am trying shell and executable from a vb macro after a mail merge with the code below I found this function to get the current username which is rather verbose
Option Explicit
Declare Function GetUserName Lib "advapi32.dll" Alias "GetUserNameA" (ByVal lpBuffer As String, nSize As Long) As Long
Public Function GetCurrentUserName() As String
[code]....
IF I PUT MSGBOX " " & GetCurrentUser & "" I return the current user with no problem and if I hardcode the user name the shell function works with no problem however I am uncertain of the proper syntax to code the username into the file path ...After tinkering with it for half an hour I figured I should just ask someone who codes in VB !

I'm having a bit of a problem with the web application I'm currently working on. In it there are a few Web User Controls that we use to display information on a bunch of different pages. They seem to compile alright and arent showing up any errors. The problem is trying to register them on other pages to access them is returning a 'file not found' error in visual studio (2005). I have them defined like this:
<%@ Register TagPrefix="cc2" TagName="ControlSelector" Src="~/components/controls/ControlSelector.ascx" %>
The strange thing is that when I remove the '~' from the front no error is shown but the path beomes ~//components/controls/ControlSelector.ascx when looking at the designer and obviously it cant find the control anyway.

I have a program that allows a user to select a program to run at a certain time for a specific amount of time all choosen by the user. Everything works with the exception of if my program has launched the other program, my program become non-responsive. Meaning I am not able to look at that window again. Not that one really needs too, because when time is up my program closes the program it opened, then closes itself. I just want to be able to see my program when the other program is running. how to do this and perhaps drop me some links, that would be wonderful. This is what I have coded, but like I stated there are no code errors.
