Oct 26, 2011the program im working on is a form with multiple controls (textboxes,combobox, etc.) and it goes out and reads in a text file called test2.txt and plugs in values to the controls. the user will be able to change text in the fields and when they hit apply, it needs to overwrite the file.

Jan 15, 2012I have written a program which reads the text from the text file cleans it for some specific letters or phrases and then saves it in another text file. I am having a problem in rewriting the processed or cleaned data (after it has removed some phrases and characters)onto writing the file.
I have successfully written the text on the file except one problem. In each loop when each string is cleaned and is written on the text file, it overwrites the previous string. What I want is that it should write in the next line or in the same line.

Mar 3, 2012I have a textbox on a form that is set to allow dragdrop operations from txt files.Basically you drag a .txt file onto the txtbox, the content of the text file is displayed in the textbox.All is working fine, however after the textfile is displayed in the textbox, the text box text is for some reason is highlighted.I don't want the text to be highlighted (or selected) after it's being displayed on the textbox.Second issue, after I close the file that I dragged, for some reason even if I didn't make any changes to the file, it is acting as if the file has changed.In another words, if I open a text file using my MenuItem Open item, and if I do not change the file, If I close the file it's fine it closes.However, if I close a file that I draged into the text box and then close the file without changing anything in it, the stringcompare function is telling me that the file has changed... I can't understand why.

Feb 22, 2009i have made a program that takes info from your registry and uploads it so I can fix it and you can download the new version of a key that makes things work faster.... when someone uploads a file, it works good, and i can look at the ftp's text file and see it, but every time someone ELSE uploads something, it overwrites the previous text file and makes another one, which deletes the first one. i would like so that when another person uploads something, it will just be on the second line then third, so on so forth.

For example, the text file I am going to read is a tab delimited file. Some content of the file includes full name, school, location, and whatnot. I want to save the content by school name in a set of files that have the school names. For some reason it keeps all previous data and just writes the data again. I'm using the XMLWriter to save the files. Is there any way of fixing this?

Here i tried to make a simple program that can create a text file with the content of what i type on the textbox, basically i create the file if it doesn't exist, and if it already exists i append the content to it. Once the file is saved i can read it using the "Open" button. Unfortunataly, whenever i try to create the file, the compiler gives me an error saying that it cannot modify a closed file, although i've followed up the execution instruction by instruction and i can't find the error.

Create And Write To A New Text File From An Existing Text File?
Sep 2, 2009I have a very large text file about 4 million lines that I would like to separate into several small text files based on the strings contained in the first column of the text file. I want to open the large text file, choose the lines that apply, create a new text file with a name that has a number at the end of which will match up with the value in the first column of the text file. I want to then copy the applicable lines to the new small text file, save and close it. I'm not sure how to go about doing this after opening the large text file and using the readline method. What if the folder does not exist? Do we have to create it? I want this procedure to be general, as there could be up to 25 million lines in the text file.
