Accessing AD Mailboxes Directly?

Oct 23, 2009

I've been tasked with redeveloping a tool that accesses mailboxes in Exchange, extracts the new emails (and their metadata) and then saves the info in DB. Even a brief perusal of the code shows that it could use some serious re-writing (no use of DirectoryServices for example).

However, from what I can make out the code loads the mailbox being accessed into Outlook and iterates through the mails. Is there a way to access the emails directly? I should point out that, unfortunately, we do not have access to the Exchange servers. They are managed by another department.

.net - SetValue/GetValue Versus Directly Accessing Array Via Arguments?

Jun 4, 2012

I have an array which originally was a Variant array in VB6. Example code in VB6:

ListBoxDrawings.List(X1, Y1) = myArray(X2, Y2)
myArray(A, B) = ListBoxDrawings.List(I, C)

After running it through ArtinSoft's VBUC, its values are handled using GetValue & SetValue.Example code in VB.NET: (ignore conversion to ListView)

ListViewDrawings.Items(X1).SubItems(Y1).Text = CStr(myArray.GetValue(X2, Y2))
myArray.SetValue(ListViewDrawings.Items(I).SubItems(C).Text, A, B)

Since VB.NET doesn't do Variants, I figured out that the array should be typed as a 2D String Array. It seems like there's no reason to use GetValue/SetValue, as the former returns an Object and the latter takes one. This means that I'd have to cast the returned object as a String (Cstr) if I wanted to assign it to a variable, which seems like a pointless extra step that might introduce errors. Also, since the method has lots of overloads, the code might not be as clear. Is there any advantage to using SetValue / GetValue, or should I just consider that an artifact of VBUC converting a Variant, and access the array directly like the original code did?

VB.NET without Get/Set methods:

ListViewDrawings.Items(X1).SubItems(Y1).Text = myArray(X2, Y2)
myArray(A, B) = ListViewDrawings.Items(I).SubItems(C).Text

C# - Creating Mailboxes On Exchange 2010

Mar 12, 2012

I have a project on VS 2005 which was running fine with exchange 2003, now the customer migrated to 2010 and my app. is failing when tries to create mailbox. My app. is console based and its running on windows 2003 and 2.0 .net framework. Exchange 2010 is running on a W2K8 and 3.5 framework. I guess a good option would be to develop a webservice (with VS 2010 for example) but not sure if EWS is able create mailboxes.

ASP Modifying Exchange 2k7 Mailboxes With Powershell Execution?

May 8, 2012

I'd like to start off by saying I'm not really a programmer just a sysadmin who likes to dabble (so simple answers would be nice ;) ),I've created a webapp that's used by some less technical folk to do basic administration tasks(User provisioning through our IDM, Updating passwords, Disabling accounts, Editing user details, etc)there's also a couple of exchange functions that are currently handled by exporting a CSV that a separate powershell script processes.I'm trying to bring these powershell functions into the application to reduce complexity but I'm having some trouble.

When I execute the "Add-MailboxPermission" command I get no return output (nor does it apply the change) at all, unless I put no parameters,in which case it throws the expected missing parameters exception (Not scientific but proves it's loading the exchange plugin fine and executing):

private sub cmdMbxFullAccess(sender as object, e as eventargs)
Dim psRunSpaceConf As RunspaceConfiguration = RunspaceConfiguration.Create()
Dim psConfException As PSSnapInException[code].....

If however I issue a simpler command like "Get-Host | Out-String" I get return output as expected. Thus far I have checked that the user context it's running under has the correct permissions and tried executing the command from the powershell prompt on that server to make sure that there isn't some other external issue I am overlooking.how I can further debug this, it's like the command disappears into the ether never to be heard from again!

Accessing Word Tables Created In Word Templates / Accessing Existing Bookmarks In Word Templates?

Jun 30, 2010

Basically in visual basic 6 I could access word tables in existing templates with the code owordactivedoc.tables(1).select() where owordactivedoc refers to the active word document and tables(1) refers to the first table in the template.Trying the same code in VB 2003 just leads to errors. Secondly how do I access bookmarks or alternatively word variables.Furthermore how do one deploy web.services. For example the current program I am building is for another computer. Simply copying the web service to Inetpubwwwroot dont work because it is not picked up by the Internet Information Services program. I have to create the web service in vb2003 on the other computer change msconfig manually. Copy and paste the existing service vb file in the created folder replacing the empty vb file.

Access SAP R/3 Data Directly From .NET?

Sep 21, 2010

We have an assignment to create some XML outputs from data in SAP R/3. We are using SAP .NET Connector, for doing this. The problem we are facing is that there are some fields which are not exposed by any standard BAPI. Unfortunately we cannot create customized BAPI on this particular system.

We are therefore restricted to whatever standard BAPI are available. I have seen on internet that tools like ERPConnect can provide access to tables directly using RFC. How can this be performed in VB, without purchasing any such tool, using or without using .NET Connector.

Download CSV From Web Directly To An Array?

Apr 29, 2012

I am trying to download yahoo's csv files from the web and then reading and storing the data into an array or database (for plotting). So far this is what I have:

Dim txtRemoteFile As String = "http://ichart.finance.yahoo.com/table.csv?s=" & sStock & "&d=11&e=30&f=2009&g=d&a=10&b=18&c=1999&ignore=.csv"
Dim txtLocalFile = "C:UsersXXXDocumentsvisual studio 2010ProjectsWindowsApplication2WindowsApplication2inDebug" & sStock & ".csv"
Me.Cursor = Cursors.WaitCursor

[code]...

So basically, i'm downloading the csv to the local directory, and THEN reading it, and then storing it into an array, and outputting the data into a textbox in my VB form. want to do, is to download that URL to a database or array, where I can plot it in my VB from. So:

1) How to download directly to database or array?

2) Which one is better? to download to database or array for plotting?

3) how to plot it

Print Directly To Printer?

Mar 23, 2006

I have a program needs to print directly to a Zebra TLP 2844-Z barcode printer.

I tried the codes in [url]... but an error occurred when i run it, as follows:

A call to PInvoke function 'test!test.RawPrinterHelper::OpenPrinter' has unbalanced the stack. This is likely because the managed PInvoke signature does not match the unmanaged target signature. Check that the calling convention and parameters of the PInvoke signature match the target unmanaged signature.

May I ask if any one has any other idea of printing directly to printer in VB2005?

Progress Bar Directly To A Timer?

May 7, 2009

I have been trying to accomplish what i thought was a fairly straightfoward task of tying a progress bar to a timer. I have a simple VB app that rotates between windows for a kiosk-type application. I would like to have a progress bar that counts down until the next window will rotate. So i thought it would be taking the total value of the timer and assigning that as the value of the progress bar, then update the progress bar while the timer is going so it can tick down to the end, then restart

Call Module Functions Directly In .NET?

Apr 29, 2010

I have a Util module in my VB.NET program that has project-wide methods such as logging and property parsing. The general practice where I work seems to be to call these methods directly without prefixing them with Util. When I was new to VB, it took me a while to figure out where these methods/functions were coming from. As I use my own Util methods now, I can't help thinking that it's a lot clearer and more understandable to add Util. before each method call (you know immediately that it's user-defined but not within the current class, and where to find it), and is hardly even longer. What's the general practice when calling procedures/functions of VB modules? Should we prefix them with the module name or not?

Creatc Tifs Directly From Program?

Mar 14, 2010

The current applications uses .net printdocument to create print jobs which it sends to a standard printer. We use the blackice tif print driver to capture the output and manage it from there. The problem is that some print jobs take 30 seconds to come out of the queue, and blackice will not allow you to change settings on the driver (like output filename) until the job is complete. This means the application has to wait 30 seconds until it can print the next job. Is there a better way? Can I create/print tif images directly from .Net without a 3rd party print driver?
