Asp.net - Making A Listview Sortable When It Doesn't Contain A Layouttemplate And Built In Codebehind
Sep 6, 2011
I have a page of checkboxes, I select a few of them, click submit, and go to a second page. on this page, I have a listview that is built using the checkboxes selected on the previous page. Now I'm wondering how i can add sortability to this listview.
In the past I would add CommandName='sort' CommandArgument='column' to the link on the header in the LayoutTemplate. But since my listview has it's header row outside of the listview, this doesn't seem to work. This is what I have so far:
<!-- header row (outside of listview, when I try to put it as a LayoutTemplate in listview i get an error, see below) -->
<table>
[Code]....
I've tried to add a templatelayout in the listview, but that gives me an error on the line that binds the data (listview.databind() ), i'm assuming because this isn't possible.
I'm trying to dynamically create a listview. on reports.aspx user selects a bunch of checkboxes. On the next page, user sees reports.aspx, and should see a table with columns of the checkboxes he selected. My idea was to create a listview, then dynamically change the header row of the LayoutTemplate, then change the select statement depending on which columns selected. This is what I have:
Problem is that this doesn't work because i can't put a code block (<%%>) inside the LayoutTemplate. Is there a way in the code behind to edit the LayoutTemplate, or another way to cycle through the Request.Form vars and build the table header row with it?
How do I set ListView data through the codebehind instead of using the Bind() function in the Text attribute?Right now I'm doing the following, but I'd like to have it retrieved and set in the codebehind. I'm using VB..
I developed a project is vb.net express 2008. Published it and the whole clickonce didn't work. Now I have Visual Studio 2008. I opened my project and have been working on it for weeks now. when I build it today it said biuld successful but the new .exe file etc have not been written to my Release folder.
I've not got any issues with Cross threading but I hate the amount of work involved in sorting cross threading issues out.I thought today that my inherited Listview Control could have built in cross threading capabilities; it would decrease the amount of work on the form, and tidy things up.I've got this to work (EnsureVisible method), BUT I'm a little stuck when it comes to the Items.add below is my example control.
My code is basically a file parser/editor and it handles most files fine as they hold a handful of records concerning family members. However there are a few files that crash when trying to deal with them. Here is the problem. Each family member record creates 3 tabs that hold an average of 3 group boxes each. Each group box holds an average of 3 text boxes. So each member record creates 3x3x3 = 27 text boxes and some files get up to 289 family members which = 7803 text boxes.
The problem is the rare file with 400+ member records = 10,800 text boxes which causes a crash due to using up all the window handles. Each member has a separate tab page (with 3 subpages) but really only a dozen or so member pages are visible in the GUI with scroll arrows to move through them so I was thinking of somehow making the GUI a scrollable window so the tabs get built, displayed and disposed as the user scrolls left and right through the member tabs.
The files are parsed into a 3d list DataList(x,y,z) where x is the page number, y is the group box number and z is the text box number. So all the data is available. The code then traverses MyList and builds GuiList(x,y) where x is the page number and y is the groupbox number with all the textbox.text linked to MyList(x,y,z) locations so all text changes are reflected in the MyList.
I already have a memberCount variable and I am thinking of building, say, the first 30 member tabs with the middle 10 being visible in the GUI. If the selected tab > 20, then dispose of the first 10 tabs and create tabs 30-40.I am thinking I will keep all the member tab pages so I don't have to deal with inserts and indexing problems but just dispose all the group boxes and text boxes for tab pages out of view. I already have a deep clone sub that clones members when the user wants to add a new family member and I am thinking I will have to add something similar when a tabpage is passed in for disposal, it traverses and disposes each text box, then disposes the group box for each group box on the tab page.Additionally, another routine will rebuild the group boxes from the data held in MyList(x,y,z) when a tabpage(x) is passed in.
When inheriting class or control e.g. ListView, TreeView, etc..., what is the best way to distinguish between built-in methods/property/events and mine?
Currently, i start my methods/property/events with "aa" in order to make them at the top of auto complete list.
Is it possible to immediately use code that is built in a dynamically built assembly?I would like to create an instance of an ENUM built using.http:[url]......
I've noticed that I can use LINQ to call a SQL Stored Procedure and use those results in a datagridview and have sorting by column automatically included. However, if the LINQ call is done on a web service, it seems like I have to return the results as an array which, when it gets back to the client, doesn't have the interface needed by the datagridview control to do it's sorting. I haven't been able to find an easy way to get the sorting ability back.
I've tried to serialize the result on the web service but the returned type can't be serialized. I tried putting the data context in a common DLL so I could use the Attach functionality but that doesn't exist for stored procedures. I suppose I could make a table in the data context just for this purpose but that will be a pain to maintain. Would I just be better off skipping LINQ and using an old fashioned typed dataset for this?
I'm trying to put data in my listview but the data doesn't show in my listview.
When i put this code in my form i dont have any problem but when i put this inside the module the data doesn't show up.
Code: Public Sub getEmployee(ByVal myConnString As String) Dim mySelectQuery As String = "SELECT names FROM employee ORDER BY ID ASC" Dim myConnection As New MySqlConnection(myConnString)
I'm trying to make an app that supports Multi-Threading. It has several different Tabs and I have one tab with a log of every initialized operation. when I update my log I want it to scroll to the bottom. I'm using the ListView control.
Public Sub SubmitLog(ByVal Data As String) If Data <> "" Then With lstLogs
I have took a little research, but I couldn't find the answer. I am looking for code that when I input the textbox something like in the first letter "a,b,c,d,e or whatever it goes", find the match of the listview items that come with the same text property of the textbox while hide the unmatched listview items.
However, I used this:
Private Sub TextBox1_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TextBox1.TextChanged Dim i As Integer
I have a photo album gallery within my website and would like to allow users to sort the order of their photos within an album. After looking at very different ways I came across this example [URL]... which is exactly what I need. The photo are stored in the uploads directory and details in the database. The images are displayed using the ListView as shown below:
I am wriing a vb.net windows application to log and store information. then display it in a sortable multiple column listbox (I personally like FlexGrid by Component One). However... I am not sure how to go about storing the information. Should I go with a .sdf file database, registry, simply storing them in a file, or some other method?
What I need is to be able to: read/write/delete from it read possibly up to a 20mb file and sorting it without a lot of lag be transported to multiple systems and maintain these writes (installed on many systems)
I know I could split up the reading/writing to anther thread. Even to other .DLL's and whatnot. But as for storing. Not sure what the best option is.
I want display many items in a Listview. Each Item gets a own icon.Item 1 to 32768 = Icon is visible in ListviewItem32769to 65536 = Icon is not visible in ListviewItem65537to ... = Icon is visible in ListviewI think it swaps in 32768 steps. Here is my code:
Dim tmpIcon As Icon = GetIcon("...") ImageList1.Images.Add(tmpIcon) tmpIcon.Dispose()
on my program i have an activation in it and in order to activate the program you need to enter a code that is stored in the settings. so i was looking through my computer and i found the programs config file. and so I opened it and i found all of the codes for the activation. I need to find out how to make the file so the user doesn't have access to it and then how to move it to a more hidden place in the C: drive.
We currently have a asp.net website with some modules developed in VB.Net & some in C# (not just classes but also individual aspx pages and code behind). We figur
I have the following code in my codebehind Page_Load function that sets the default selected value of a dropdownlist in detailsview based on the name of a record returned from a sql data query.Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
I'd like to impersonate a specific user in code to perform some file manipulation on a remote machine. The problem I'm having is that I am unable to get impersonation to work. I'm using the code from the Microsoft article found here: How to implement impersonation in an ASP.NET application
I'd like direction on how/where to start the debugging process. Here are my files:

I replaced real credentials with myUserName, myDomain, and myPassword for the post.
The web server is a Windows 2008 server running IIS 7. I'm not a server guy, so I don't know where to being the troubleshooting process. Is the issue with the code or server side?
Why can I not access to the storyboard when using WPF. In Silverlight, the exact same code works.
Codebehind VB Public Class UserControl1 Private Sub UserControl1_MouseLeftButtonDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Input.MouseButtonEventArgs) Handles Me.MouseLeftButtonDown
