Jan 6, 2012I have a webservice for ajax cascading dropdownextender. Which is working fine. But suddenly it raised a exception. MethodError 500. What is this exception.

Mar 4, 2010Ok so I have alot of plans for programs coming up and I want them all to fade in and out so instead of copy and pasting from project to project etc I learnt about dll's
So when I added in the references etc and I typed in what I declared the Fadein function as which was "FadeIn" I got an error saying it needed to be declared
So I declared it as a string
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load

Then I get a different error saying Expression is not a method.

Aug 7, 2009im migrating from vb6 to vb.net and have only very basic knowledge of .net. now i upgraded one of my projects, in which i had function cleartexts() which would clear all the text boxes of the forms. now to upgrade it to .net i converted it to sub (as it didnt return anything), so it looked like,

but .net 2005 gives the error, "expression is not a method", how do i call it then?? or what modifications do i need to make?

C# - Generic Method Overloading Compilation Error In VB?
Aug 5, 2009I have a problem with the VB.NET compiler failing to compile a class (in a separate C# assembly) which contains two overloads of a method with generic arguments. The equivalent code in C# compiles against the same assembly with no errors. Here are the two method signatures:

protected void SetValue<T>(T? newValue, ref T? oldValue) where T : struct
Here is the code to three assemblies that demonstrate the problem. The first is the C# assembly with a Base class that implements the generic methods. The second is a C# class derived from Base and calls both overloads of SetValue correctly. The third is a VB class also derived from Base, but fails to compile with the following error message:

Am I doing something wrong in the VB code, or are C# & VB different when it comes to generic overload resolution? If I make the method arguments in Base non-generic then everything compiles correctly, but then I have to implement SetValue for every type that I wish to support.

May 10, 2012I use web methods in a couple of places in the intranet site im working on and they work fine, however one page is constantly throwing a HTTP 401 error every time I try access the web method.
Im not sure how to aproach this issue, I have tried commenting everything out of the web method, and still get the 401 error, even a basic connect to the database just doing SELECT 1 does not show up when I watch the DB with profiler.
My web.config is the same for all pages in the intranet and I cannot see any differences in my ASP.Net page compared to pages where web methods work.[code]...

I tried using named arguments with no effect:

Using this overload didn't weed out the error either:

The error is occuring only at run-time. Intellisense swallows it without problem.
