I'm working with a website written in aspx.net over vb. I have a placeHolder, and I create a table of names inside this PlaceHolder, each name has an HtmlInputCheckBox next to it. Im doing this in the aspx.vb file, when the page is uploading. Then, when the user wants to send mail, he presses a button and than I need to access the checkboxes, and I'm having problems with this, the Sub doesn't know the checkBox object.

View 1 RepliesI have an external project (DLL) that I have referenced in my project. One of the requirements of using that DLL is to include an XML file in the same directory as the DLL. Now I know in a production environment I could just add that DLL to the GAC and place the XML file in that same folder. However, that doesn't help me when I'm trying to debug it. I have tried including it into the BIN directory but it never gets moved to the Temp directory when compiled.

I have some variables that are distinct by numbers, like in1, in2...If I have for loop, how would I access those variables, using the counter, and attaching it to the variable?I believe in JAVA, you could just use in+ct... where ct is the counter to access the variable.also how could you make a new variable in the for loop?Initially I had variables declare outside of the for loop. This is object oriented programming, and I made the textboxes in1, in2, and in3 using the GUI editor. that was so easy.
I am trying to access controls that were added to the form and created code all before I added them to a panel. Upon form loading I create the form handle into a dictionary. then I call that dictionary ID and add data to the controls. I can't seem to add data to the controls inside the panel.. I think it is something simple. I may just be over looking the method I need to call.

I have an app with 24 different Forms. They have some security options based on which the 5 different buttons Submit, Approve, 2nd Approve, 3rd Approve, Reject etc get enabled disabled.Now I designed a MainForm that has all the buttons and the security code for them. I have created eachform as a usercontrol and load them dynamically based on which form the user wants. My loading works perfectly fine. I load the control and Add it to the place holder in the Page load event of the main page.
Now when the user selects the Submit button I want to call the Save method inside the usercontrol of the Form as each form will have a separate Save. So when I try this code snippet I get the Null reference error. Do let me know how to resolve it.

In other words the values of the last row used are stored in every key, value dictionary combination. How do you prevent this from happening? It is clearly associated with the use of the temp variable, as the dictionary changed as the temp variable changes. Is there a way to only copy the values from the array rather then associate the dictionary with the changing values of the array?

I have a particular link that I'm trying to convert to an ASP:LinkButton place holder so that I can control it's visibility based on the user type:

I was able to remove the PostBackUrl by adding "javascript: void(0)" to the Href property, but now I have the problem of getting a real ID that I can use in javascript. As it currently stands, this creates an ID for the item of ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_linkColumnsSelect, however I need that ID to be "linkColumnsSelect" on the client side and still work server side (for jQuery coding reasons that involve looping). Is that possible? Or do I just need to adjust my jQuery to account for the placeholder segments of IDs?
I have a page that includes javascript which I only want to run under certain conditions. To do this I have placed the scripts into an asp: placeholder.This actually seems to work but when I run a debug on the page I get the following warning.Element 'placeholder' is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the Web site, or the web.config file is missing.If I move the placeholders into the body of the page the warning goes, but that means I'm left with scripts in the body which I also want to avoid. I've done asp.net exclusively so long, and now I have to convert a small web app to a desktop app.
At one point in the web app, I dynamically generate a table of data and add it to a placeholder control.
I'm not sure how that would be done on a desktop app. Can anyone suggest a control or 'windows' way of doing that.

I am making an invoicing application. I have a label (lblCost) inside of a UserControl (InvoiceEntry) inside of a FlowLayoutPanel (pnlEntries). InvoiceEntry represents a line item on the invoice, and pnlEntries is the "body" of the invoice. pnlEntries can hold several InvoiceEntry controls.
I am attempting to sum all of the lblCost values from each InvoiceEntry control to make a subtotal, and I want that subtotal to change automatically if costs are changed (e.g., a change in quantities being ordered). Is there a way to handle when the lblCost.Text property of any of the InvoiceEntry controls contained within pnlEntries changes?

Basically in visual basic 6 I could access word tables in existing templates with the code owordactivedoc.tables(1).select() where owordactivedoc refers to the active word document and tables(1) refers to the first table in the template.Trying the same code in VB 2003 just leads to errors.
