Build The Shortest Path Between Any 2 Points In This List - Develop Some AI Code For A Game ?
Aug 17, 2010
I'm trying to develop some AI code for a game I'm creating. I have a list of x,y coords and I need help figuring out what I can use/do to build the shortest path between any 2 points in this list. I would like to build a function that I can pass a list of valid X,Y coords to use when generating the path, start point, end point, and have it return a list of points, which would be the shortest path between the start and end point, using the list of points supplied. I have looked at A* and Dijkstra's, but am having problems implementing the algs in code, as all this seems graph based.
C#.Can some one provide me the simplest solution to Shortest Path algorithm (source code) based on VB? I could not find any useful sample on the internet as almost all of them are written in Java or
I'm building a card game called 11-UP. See the game here.I've gotten to the point where I need to make scores show up when the selected cards have a sum of 11. For example, if the card is worth 200 points, then "200" should become visible for about a second and then "float away".
I know I can do this with a timer and the location property. I was thinking of creating an array of 22 timers, one for each card. When the selected cards have a sum of eleven, I enable the timers for each selected card. The timer makes the "score" for that card appear, then move up a few times, then vanish.
Does anyone have a better way to do it? Maybe with only one timer? Also, how could I make the "scores" become more transparent as time advances? I'd like to make them not only float away, but also "disolve."
I am a VB.Net programmer and i want to develop a GUI chess game(computer vs human begin and human begin vs human begin)with 3D ChessPieces in VB.Net 2008 as my final year project in school.
I am trying to develop a poker game and I followed the follwoing tutorial -[URL] It works awesome for the logic but I am looking one more functionality to enter the first two cards by the user instead of automatically creating it. I am fairly new to VB coding and this program is too advanced for me to understand.
I am creating a points system for a game, this is the code I have but it isn't working as I want it to. Dim intScore As Integer = 10 Dim intNumOfGames As Integer = 0 intNumOfGames += 1 intScore = intScore - 2 The user will start will a score of 10, but everytime they click the button the user should lose 2 points off the score. But my code above that doesn't happen, when the user clicks the button it only happens once leaving the user with 8 points throughout the game.
i think this is the right place to post this.i am just learning vb and have spent the last week trying to figure out directx. im using visual basic 2008. i have installed directx i got it to render a blank screen but i cant get it to draw anything. what i have is a program that collects gps coordinates and i want to plot them to screen. i got it to work using gdi+ but i wanted a 3d view. i want a view like a tomtom(without Map) and draw a line where i have been.
this is what i have for creating a vector to plot i think it is creating the vector ok. when i stop in debug and mouseover there is data in it (ie x,y,z Coordinates). i think it is drawing i think i just am not "looking at it"
I am designing a game, in which you have to connect some lines, these lines are defined by the beginning and end points. I would like them to wave, yet always keeping the edges on the two points, also, when you connect 2 lines, I would like them to appear to be one continuous line, which contains the beginning, end, and the point of connection between the lines. To do this I've tried bezier curves, with a random point, always changing, but I noticed that bezier curves only works to 4 points, and the line does not always passes through the points themselves...
I sent the application exe to a user to test and they get an unhandled exception error and the details show my personal My Documents Folder/DEBUG path from the project. So I tried to use Application.ExecutablePath but when I release that it points to "My Documents" Folder (not the debug) folder. The file to open is in the same folder as the exe is in but for some reason the error occurs because the application is not looking for the file using the path where the EXE was launched from. Here is my code that relates to the section giving my users a problem:
from the module Public Class shrd Public Shared ocSess As cSession
[code]....
How can I get the application to open the file that is in the same folder as the exe when the user launches
I currently have a who wants to be a millionaire game that I have made in visual basic 2010. Each question is in its own form. Form1 opens at the start, and question 1 is opened by a button click on Form1. The user has to click on the picture box at the side to show the text for the question each time. If they answer incorrectly, it displays a message box, opens an input box asking for their name, and goes to the form with the high score list, Form17.
Upon opening Form17, I want the scores to load and be displayed in the list box. The high scores are saved in a text file at C: est.txt . Upon clicking menu or end, the high scores are saved to the text file.
I've come across a very basic problem which I'm sure has a basic answer.Forgive me but I haven't programmed in years and this just a hobby of mine..My problem is that I need a drawn object (say an ellipse) to move to the cursors location when I click. Imagine an adventure quest style game where you view your character in birds eye view, and it moves according to where you click on the map.I can draw the image fine, and move the image around fine - it's more so the formula I'm using which I'm a little stumped on.I have certain requirements though.
1. I need a timer that constantly updates the drawn object's (lets say character from now on) location. Each tick will essentially be the character taking 1 step towards the cursor's location.2. At the end of each tick of the timer, it'll will invalidate the form/control to invoke the paint event, and of course, the objects location will be be updated. It sounded simple enough to create a linear equation based on the objects original location and the location of the cursor when I click. However, that will not give it a fixed speed. If say for example, the gradient (rise/run) between the cursor location and objects location is very steep, the object's y-velocity will be greater than that of the x-velocity
I am working on a poker game and I have the game setup the way I want it in terms of graphics and I have the code programed to deal the cards out exactly how I want them. Granted, the code is very simplistic, but functional for a new programmer like myself. I'm sure there are other more efficient ways to code my game, but I like mine so far because I can at least understand the majority of it. With that being said, here are a few problems and questions that I have.
1. How come when all 12 cards are dealt out I have some cards repeating in the game? For example, I get queen of diamonds in more than one picture box when I only want the card to be dealt once and then removed until the next game.
2. I was hoping to have a button 3 to clear all the boxes, basically resetting the game to the next game. When I hit button 3 it only clears the contents of picturebox 10 and 12.Other notes: I have the deal down the way I want it. It deals the first 10 picture boxes and a second button deals the 11 and 12 picture boxes.
3. I know this is my next step so I want to post it with the code I currently have. I want to start taking my project one step further by evalutating each of the three rows of cards (3 rows of 3 cards each - I'm not worried about the dealers hand (picture box 10, 11, 12 yet). So I want to evaluate a row of pictureboxes against a "pay scale" and display the win in a text box or label next to the 3 card hand. For example, Q of diamonds, Q of Clubs, Q of spades would win 15, etc. ( have a weird feeling I may have to change the names of the cards (I have them named card1, card2, etc. right now) to something that identifies them in order to evaluate the hands.
Here is the code that I currently have. I'm using visual basic.
Public Class Form1 Dim Rndm As New Random Dim myPB(11) As PictureBox Dim HiddenCards As New List(Of String)
I'm trying to make a 2D platform game and I'm pretty inexperienced at programming. I've coded the player to move left and right and jump, but I can't figure out how to prevent multiple jumps while the player is in the air. Anyone know how to do this?
Check Score: The winner is the one with the highest score less than or equal to 21If both scores(player total and computer total) are over 21, or if both are equal but under 21, the game is declared a draw.
There is something wrong with this line: If intPlayerCardTotal < intScore And intComputerTotal < intScore Then MsgBox "Draw"
I am trying to build a pacman game. Currently I am in the process of building the AI for the ghosts. The way I have the AI working is whenever a ghost enters an intersection, it will check where the player is relative to its position, then it will move in one of the possible directions depending on the intersection it is at.The problem I am experiencing though is whenever ghost is moving horizontally it cannot be sent to the left. Similarly, when it is moving vertically, it cannot be sent up or down. This doesn't allow it to turn around when it is moving to the right or to the bottom. It can be sent right when moving left though. When searching through my code I cannot see why this is.
The build output path is ..inWhat does it mean ..?I mean what is the root folder? If there are multiple projects, should we set the individual path of each project consistently?
im struggling to work out the code for 3 of a kind in my yahtzee game, i think that if i can work this out i can sort my everest of the full house code!
I just finished my own snake game, and I need some recommendations on how to make this game better. If you see a problem, please tell me.The only problem with this game is that I can't get the code to get longer, other then that its good.EDIT: Sorry I meant : The only problem with this game is that I can't get the SNAKE to get longer, other then that its good.
I have a set of points. The connections among them areenerated. How can Draw lines between theconnected points? In the example below, Plist is the connection list among them. How can I store points to PList so that it draw lines?
Public Class Form1 Dim Matt(7, 7) As Integer Dim NumberofConnections As Integer
Suppose in a solution there are two projects A and B. A is a class library project, B is a console project. I set the output path of project A as ..in elease, after I compiled it, I found it is ture that a created file testA.dll is there. Just curiously I checked the folder ..indebug, it is empty. Likewise, I set the output path of project B as ..in elease. Okay, then I add the file testA.dll to the project B and run the solution etc..
My question is that after these procedures, I found that testA.dll is also in the ..indebug of project A. And also when I checked the folder ..indebug of B, testA.dll is there as well but nothing in the ..in elease of B. I just want to know the secrets of the build path, I am always confused in the real world because there are several projects in a solution.
I need help and wondering if you can help me to get my first project...it's a hobby and wondering if you can get me code for this so i can see how it does it* Evaluate( ) Prints the evaluation of the hand to the evaluation Label.

The question is, in the case of four connections, how can I make sure that all points are connected with minimum number of connections using the same above code?
WHERE IS MY Problem. Develop a COMPLETE algorithm using pseudo code to solve the following problem: Your network contains hundreds of workstations. The primary local drive (C on each of those workstations may contain many folders immediately under the root folder. You need to search each of the folders under the root folder on each of the workstations to see if the file nasty.bug exists. You need to do two things with respect to this file. First, count the number of times this file is actually found and, after all the workstations have been scanned, display a message indicating the total number of occurrences of this file across your network. Second, whenever the file is found, it should be deleted.
I want to build a recent files list into my program.
The hiearchy I currently have is "MenuStrip>File>Recent Files>File1".
I have a function which saves the files and opens them. It also stores the file name and file path in sperate variables:
CODE:
I would be able to change the text property of the File1 (File1ToolStripItem) to the SaveFileName easily, but how would I make it so that when you click the File1 (File1ToolStripItem) it opens the Savefile file?
I would also need the program to save this list so when I open the program again they are still there.
