C# - Convert String Approximately 300 Characters And Then Showing Continuation With [...] After A Word Break?

I am working on RSS feed. In Rssfeed <description> (string) tag suggest using approximately 300 characters and then showing continuation with [...] after a word break.
<description>Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially [...]</description>

How we can do with a string by showing continuation with [...] after a word break?

I need to get: "Repair: getthis! "
Other example
Machine: dddddd Repair: hi"
I need to get: "Repair: hi"

I am trying to strip the first 75 characters from various strings (sentences / phrases) and it seems right but I need to ensure that the no words are truncated in the process. Meaning that if the 75 character is part of a word it needs to fall back to the beginning of the word or nearest space..
I thought of stripping the entire string into separate words and then counting the length of combining the words and stopping when I reach the target but what do I do in the case when it is not a valid sentence just a bunch of characters jammed together or spaces and one character. I thought of using grammar parsing tool libraries and parsing into tokens etc but that seems too over complicated.
Here is what I have so far:
If htext.Length() > 75 Then
Dim regex2 As Regex = New Regex("^.{0,75}", RegexOptions.IgnoreCase)
Dim m2 As Match = regex2.Match(htext)

How to correctly convert string containing upper ASCII characters to byte array besides looping through each character and filling the array using AscW(chr)?I know I can do something like:
Code:
Dim bSourceData As Byte() = System.Text.ASCIIEncoding.GetBytes(sourcedata)
But this only works for lower ascii characters (0-127).Instead of ASCIIEncoding I can specify encoding myself (System.Text.Encoding.Getencoding(encoding).GetBytes(sourcedata)). But I have to specify correct encoding in this case, otherwise most of special characters are converted to "?". What should I do if I don't know the encoding?

I am creating a VB application in Visual Studio 2010 that installs some SQL stored procedures. These stored procedures are encrypted otherwise I would just supply my clients with .sql files to create the stored procedures.
The install script that creates the stored procedure is 1500 lines in length and has been formatted in the way VS 2010 requires multi-line literals to be in:
"First Line" & _
"Second Line" & _
"etc..."

I am trying to write the following application. A project has initial investment, yearly revenue and yearly expenses. The program should be able to take these data and calculate the break-even year, i.e. when the cumulative profits become 0. Also, it should have a listbox that would list the cumulative profit for 10 years. Refer to the example below. Now I know how to show it in the listbox but I am having trouble showing the break-even year. I know how to calculate it but how do you show it in years.

I'm making an application that will change position of two characters in Word.
[Code]...
Program works good, it is mixing characters good, but it doesn't write text to the file. It will write text in console, but not in file. Note: Program is working only with words that are divisible by 2, but it's not a problem. Also, it does not return any error message.

I have developed an application and need to allow users to enter text in any language and save it to my database. However the text is saved as '?' in my database. I have googled quite a bit and found that people have suggested not to use varchar, text types but use nvarchar and ntext etc in your database. I have gone through and made these changes to my database. However it still saved text as '?', I then found people where saying about adding 'N' infront of the text prior to saving into the database. The problem is that I cannot figure out how to do this in a stored procedure.
Stored Procedure
Code:
CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[spUpdateActionTaken] @ID as varChar(4),@action as text,@modifyDate as varchar(50)
AS
UPDATE commentsTbl SET commActionTaken=@action,modifyDate=@modifyDate WHERE [ID]=@ID
Note: Fields commActionTaken set to nText
VB.Net Code
Code:
Dim actionTaken as String = Me.textBox.Text
Dim myCmd As New OleDb.OleDbCommand("spUpdateActionTaken")
myCmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
[code].....

I need to create a console program that allows you to enter a string, of which is then outputted in reverse.
Sample:
Input: Diewas
Output: saweiD
Apparently I need to find out about strings and will also need to use a loop.

Not sure if too many people know this, but the following line will cause an error:
GroupName.Substring(0, 3) = "jt_"
....if the length of GroupName is less than 3 characters. I always thought it would simply return whatever characters in GroupName, but no, it errors. I must be thinking of the old VB6 days.So, I now have to change the code to:
If (GroupName.Length > 2) Then
If (GroupName.Substring(0, 3) = "jt_") Then
Note that the two comparisons need to be on separate lines. If they are on the same line, such as:
If (GroupName.Length > 2) and (GroupName.Substring(0, 3) = "jt_") Then then the code will still fail as the length command is executed at the same time as the substring command- which will cause the error when the GroupName length is less than 3.Just thought that those of us not aware of this should be!

I'm trying to write a function to find a word in a string in the this format : "ThisissometextthatIneedtofindandthisisthetext. This is another text."It's read as " This is some text that I need to find and this is the text. This is another text." but there is no space between each word. I want to get the word "text" or any word in that string. Can you help me with this function with a code sample ?
And I think that this method can be implemented with a string of Unicode also because in a sentence of Unicode it contains one or few, sometimes zero spaces between each word.

I have a variable that reads in a POST from paypal. This is the instant payment notification stream and all the keys and values are stored into a string variable .
mc_gross=0.05&protection_eligibility=Ineligible&payer_id=UEWAFF732VL&tax=0.00&payment_date=22%3A36%3A55+Jul+21%2C+2009+PDT&payment_status=Completed&charset=windows-1252&first_name=Scot
This is part of the string. How do I break this up into a set of variables. I tried using request.form but this did not do anything. I'm trying to get the variables and then pass them to a function that will write everything to a database.
Dim amount = Request.Form("mc_gross")
Dim currency = Request.Form("currency")
Dim pmtdate = Request.Form("payment_date")
Dim status = Request.Form("payment_status")
I only need certain variables from this variable which is strNewvalue. How to I get the values stored in this variable?
Response.Write(IPNResponse)
Dim myEmail As MailMessage = New MailMessage()
myEmail.To = "e@aol.com"
