View 16 RepliesI'm using Visual Basic Express 2010. I have the prompt, the textbox and the calculate button. For the answer do I have to make a separate label for the answer in seconds and the actual response "That will take (separate label for answer) seconds" I made a click event button and assigned the following as global variables at the start of the form:

Then I made a click event for the button. I don't know what the formula is. Basically the user inputs a distance in the box, the calculate button tells you how long it will take for the vehicle to travel that distance in seconds.

The Thrust SSC, a super fast vehicle tracked at 1207 Km per hour (750 mph) was clocked on the Black Rock desert back in 1977. Build an application that will tell people how many seconds it would take to get to their destination if they were driving the vehicle. Of course this doesn't include having to stop for stop signs, travel through school zones, or slow down for corners.
You need to include the following:
1.) Design the application with a prompt label and textbox to collect the distance from the user.
2.) A calculate time button
3.) The form must have the text property changed to read "Are we there yet?"
4.) The objects must have both the Text property and Name property changed to an appropriate value.
5.) A constant global variable should be used to represent speed of the vehicle.
6.) A constant global variable should be used for seconds (there are 3600 seconds in an hour)
8.) A local Dim variable declaration can be used within the button click to hold the distance value.
7.) Variables should be declared with the most appropriate data types.
8.) Include a "Text Changed" event to reset the time in seconds to a blank value when the user starts entering in a new distance.
9.) Comment code should be included

I would like to have the selection idicator move down the rows in the DataGridView as it completes processing of each record. How can I display the iteration of the DataGridView rows while the processing is underway? For ease of program maintenance, all of the above rates and factors must be stored in module level constants. All references to pay rates in the program must refer to the module level constants.
When the Calculate button is clicked:
a. The value in the Hours text box must be validated to insure that it is numeric value greater than zero.
1. If the value is not valid, a message box must appear as shown below and the user must be offered the option to continue processing or quit the program.
2. If the user chooses to continue processing, the focus must be set to the Hours text box.
3. If the user chooses to quit, the program must close immediately.
b. If the value is valid, the program must calculate and display the total pay in the Total Pay label.
1. The pay rate is determined by which Job Grade radio button is checked.
2. For hours less than or equal to 40, the total pay is the hours times the pay rate.
3. For hours greater than 40, the total pay is 40 hours times the pay rate plus the hours in excess of 40 hours times the pay rate times the Overtime Factor.
4. If the Full Time radio button is selected, the total pay must be reduced by the Benefit Deduction Rate.

View 1 RepliesI am still having some issues with the issue I posted last time regardin formview not updating correctly.I have managed to narraow the problem to one sub below:My issue appears to be on this line: tbl.Rows.AddAt(tbl.Rows.Count 1, row)Anytime I attempt to update a row, only the first row gets updated. Subsequent rows don't get updated. Instead, when I click "Update", the cursor moves down to the next record without updating it.When I commented out this tbl.Rows.AddAt(tbl.Rows.Count - 1, row), I can now update each and every row. After updating the row, an email goes out to the individual advising him/her about the update s/he just made. The problem is that email is getting sent to the wrong person and that's because of that one line that I just commented out.

Okay, so, for school i have a project i need to completely program by the end of next semester. My graduation project. And it needs to be a full-blown piece of software that would be theoreticly usable for a person or company.assignment was simple:make an application, usable by a person or company, that uses databases and VB.NET
so i started brainstorming and i came up with the following:a client-server application where the server runs on the company's mainframe and it's employees (seeing as it would be an IT company or another company that would use a lot of computer files) can upload to, and download files from, where each file would have a description and additional information (extension, date,emplyees would also be able to exchange private messages so that collegues of the uploader can be notifies that the file they would need is uploaded.
in addition to that there would be an administrator (or multiple) that can overview all PM's (make sure there's no abuse of the system) and administrate the files (delete/edit/...)So really, i have no idea where to begin building this application, so i would think that if i get the interface done, i atleast have an overview of what and how i would need to code.
note: wow now i think about it this seriously sounds more like a website than an application... but still it sounds like a good idea to me and has to be done or else i would not graduate

When I try to click my button 'Prepare Invoice', I want Barb Allen's info to be displayed in my listbox 'Invoice'. But, now I don't have that complete. I have a whole list of items generated when I load my whole thing from my Form Load event from the textfile RESORT.TXT. I get a whole list of items instead of individualized items.
My question for you is: "How can I get just ONE name and person's information to show up?" when I press the button 'Prepare Invoice'.[code]...
I am making a program for me and I told my friend about it and they said that they would like to test it. The only problem is that they don't have VB2008, and there seems to be no way to compile my program so that another person WITHOUT VB can use it.
