i am working on an alarm system software, i am required to blink buttons whenever an alert SMS is received by my gsm modem, after checking for its authentication with the database. The buttons represents the individual units of houses that are armed with a hardware whereby whenever an alarm is triggered, the hardware sends a alert SMS which is received by my gsm modem. The unit under alert represented by the button will start blinking to show that its under alert, when clicked, it will stop blinking to show that the alert is acknowledged. But now i am facing a situation whereby when the second alert comes in, the first alert will be overwritten by it, which is not what i wanted, i want it to be like both buttons will be blinking, not overwritten. The buttons are all created when the program is running, with its text referred to the database. I have placed a timer to do all the blinking. The timer will start after the checking for authentication.

Quick question - if I have a timer set to 5000 (5 seconds) and the code in the timer takes longer than 5 seconds to run because of sql stuff, will the timer wait until the code is done till it fires again?

View 1 RepliesI have a piece of software with two tabs, inside each tab there are buttons (the user can add the buttons when they want). when tab1 is full tab2 should start to fill. I currently know how many buttons fit on the screen so I just say something like if buttons > 150 then start to populate tab 2 The problem i have now though is if the resolution is changed then a different amount of buttons can be displayed. so if I put my screen to 1280x720 some buttons are left of. I was thinking of detecting the resolution and then using different cases for different resolutions but this seems very inefficient im wondering if there is a different way?

So I am having difficulty coding with radio buttons. I have 4 radio buttons in 2 different lists.

I tried double clicking on "Binding NavigatorMoveFirstItem" button to see the code behind it. But nothing is there.What is the code to use the BindingNavigator but on my custom buttons? View 7 RepliesI'm currently writing a countdown timer on vb 2005, with the following characteristics: When I press a button and the timer is running, it adds time to the counter, for example, if the time is 2:30 and I press a button, and the period to add is 1:10, the new time would be 4:40. The window is always on top of every other window, and is active even though it doesn't have focus. View 1 RepliesI have created a windows service and I have two different timer variables in there. 1st one fires off every 5 seconds and then does whats it is required to do. The second one fires every 30 seconds.
I make sure that when the function are getting executed I disable both the timers and enable once the function is complete.My problem is my second longer (30 second ) timer never fires only the first one is firing. I had created this service 3 months ago and it was working fine till now. But now I do not see the timers work properly in a simple windows app i created to test their workings.

the values are stored in a variable called 'count'
the 'count' is incremented by the ammount from the radio button clicked.

so I have a game in VB 2008 and 21 options for a something in the game and all 21 options have the same code but the number is different. for example: timerX.enabled = true where X is the number from 1 to 21. Is it possible to link them all to one Sub instead of 21?

I am trying to make a webform that will act as a "wizard". My problem is how to get the program started e.g. I want to ask the user a question and have them choose a radio button, then have them click a next button. when the user clicks the next button I want to use the radio buttons as a condition so for example if the user selected the "yes" radio button then the program will display some new labels and textfields or radio buttons and so on.
