I am using Linq to convert an array of any object to a CSV list:String.Join(",", (From item In objectArray Select item.ToString()).ToArray())
This is giving me the strange error: "Range variable name cannot match the name of a member of the 'Object' class."I can get round it by wrapping the string in a VB StrConv method, with a setting of "Nothing":String.Join(",", (From item In oArray Select StrConv(item.ToString(), VbStrConv.None)).ToArray())
However, this seems like a bit of a hack and I would like to avoid it.Does anyone have any ideas when this problems occurs, and any better ways to get round it?
I am looking for a way to convert my List(Of string) into an Object in vb. So in the end it would be the same as declaring Dim cArray() As Object = new Object. Can anyone point me to how i can achieve this? I cannot use the LINQ .ToArray as that creates a string array and this is not acceptable for my work. I need to pass this object into another one that has the parameter (aArray as Object).
in my project I use an Excel workbook as template. Right now, this workbook is located in the same directory as the exe-assembly and can be opened and manipulated by the user. To avoid this, I thought about adding the workbook to a ressource. That works. Problem: how can I convert the resulting byte-array/stream back to a workbook-object?I tried like this, but - obviously - the conversion fails:
Public Shared Sub test() Dim wkb As Excel.Workbook Dim bytes As Byte() = My.Resources.Template_1
wrote a procedure that accepts as input a parameter of type decimal, or type Long as well as an array type ar() as Boolean. First thing I will do in the procedure is establish just what type of parameter I received. No problem with the scalar types, I'll use the .GetType, determine whether it's Long of Decimal, and assign the parameter I just received to a variable of that type by using convert.toInt64 or convert.toDecimal, then do what I need to do. Not so if the parameter I received happens to be an array. .GetType will tell me what it is, for example returns "system.int64[]" if its an array of Longs, but then I fail to assign it to a variable for further processing as there appears to be no conversion method to do that.
I have a problem here for converting object of array to string of array in my VB.Net code. The object of array is quite long and contains 6 sets of data here.
Dim varReturnResult As Object Dim varMapData As Object Dim StrMap() As String varMapData = varReturnResult(2) StrMap = Split(varMapData, vbLf)
I encountered this error "Conversion from type 'Object()' to type 'String' is not valid." when trying to retrieve the StrMap value.
Dim tenItem = From t In _InvalidFeeList _ From i In ItemCount _ Where t.FeeCode <> i.FeeCode _
[Code]....
I am getting "Can not convert to System.generic.list" error. I look all over for this error and it seem like my code should work for example here
edit: I think i should explain what I'm trying to do here. I want to compare two object list and select the object from the InvalidFeeList if the FeeCode is not equal to the object in ItemCount FeeCode and take the first 10 objects from the InvalidFeeList.
I'm using String.Join to attempt to turn an array list into a string that is comma separated, such as "1,2,3,4". I can't seem to get the syntax working.
Here's what I'm trying:
Dim aryTest As New ArrayList() aryTest.Add("1") aryTest.Add("2") aryTest.Add("3")
i have data in an array list called txtarray which contains numbers, how can i loop through the array list and convert the values from into a integer variable?
After reading all the examples for list of T exists and Find and find first, none show how to handle multi-property objects. Below is bare bones example maybe someone could flesh out to show how this should be done.
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim DatePriceList As New List(Of DateAndPrice) DatePriceList.Add(New DateAndPrice(Date.Parse("1/1/2000"), 10.12)) DatePriceList.Add(New DateAndPrice(Date.Parse("1/2/2000"), 11.12))
I have a program that will compare an array of grocery list items glist and an array of coupon item clist. When I compare the two and if there is a match somewhere in the array I want to have a picturebox visible. When there is no match, I want the picture box not to be visible. [code] The code seems to work great until I come to the else statement. When the code finds a match it displays the picture box and the msgbox without error, but as soon as the message box is cleared, even though i've input it as an ELSE statement, the picturebox goes false again.Does anyone have any idea of how I can "hold" the picturebox to stay visible while the match between the arrays exists?
Limited to using v2.0 of .Net framework (we use VB.net) due to environmental constraints on our servers.I've got an ASP.net webpage which pulls data from a webservice that performs checks on user accounts in active directory. Operators can check multiple accounts at one time using the web interface. The webservice returns a list(of AccountCheck) objects which themselves contain single properties like username, email address, and List(of AccountError) objects which contain multiple properties.[code]What I want to do is using some kind of repeater, create multiple panels or divs which contain labels showing the username, email etc, and a gridview which has the accounterror list bound to it to show all the errors. The users could be checking 2, 5, 7 accounts at once, and is dynamic.
I am working in VB.net and have a Class, Foo, that implements an interface, IBar.I have a List of Foo's, but I need to pass a list of IBar's into a function, but I keep getting casting errors, even when I use DirectCast. My code is [code]MainWorks works, but it would be really annoying and inefficient to have to do that everywhere I want to call this function.
I am trying to create an list or an array of a class. Here is my "Ingredient" class that I am trying to create a list of:[code]In my "recipe" class, I am want to create a list (or array) and I am drawing a big blank on how to do it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
PD: I'm currently using Newtonsoft's JSON.Net library.
Public Sub New(ByVal jsonText As String) Dim jObject As JObject = jObject.Parse(jsonText ) Dim jErrors As JToken = jObject("Errors") Dim jS = New JsonSerializer()
I'm trying to solve a problem regarding types of list. First of all I have a stored procedure in my DB which does a select of a single column and I try to proceed it in my app in VB. By making a method function I declared a DataTable that loads through the SqlCommand(with the CloseConnection behavior). After that I publicly declared a List(Of String) which needs to be populated with the rows/items from the stored procedure that is on the way. Below is my snippet of the code:
Dim dt As New DataTable() Try If conn.State = ConnectionState.Open Then
[Code]....
It's LPrefix = collection.Cast(Of String)() where I get an exception error telling me that I can't really convert it. The old fashion way is to iterate with for/for each loop but that's not what I want for best use of performance especially if the list will have thousands of rows from a single column. So basically, I want to insert those items from that DataTable to the List(Of String) without For/For Each loop.
Running on VisualStudio2010 Ultimate, .NET FrameWork 4.0.
