Copy A Font File In My Programm Resources To Windows Fonts
May 23, 2010
I have a font in my programm resources that I wanna copy on form load to windows fonts I tried (my.computer.filesystem.filecopy) but i get this error (cant convert binary to string)
I want to copy my Startup.wav file from the programs resources, but i don't know how to do it.I have tried: system.IO.File.Copy(My.resources.Startup, "C:windowsmediaStartup.wav", true) But it doesn't work. I've spent some time searching the web, but found no usefull awnsers to my problem. Maybe i'm not searching for the right things..
Is it possible to copy a file from the application's resources to a directory? If so, I want the file "system.dat", that i added to the resources to be copied to lets say: My.Computer.FileSystem.CurrentDirectory + "system.dat" when i press button1. How do I do that?
My.Computer.FileSystem.CopyFile( My.Resources.system, My.Computer.FileSystem.CurrentDirectory + "system.dat") But it gave an error "Value of type '1-dimensional array of Byte' cannot be converted to 'String'."
I'm using the font dialog and have noticed that when I select/highlight portions of text and then cancel out of the dialog, the selected text is changed to the default settings (i.e., font type, style, size, color, etc).
Is there a way to preserve the original text settings?
I am making a VB.NET application linked to a database. when you press the button 'generate' it is writes (fairly simple) webpages to a folder in your destkop. what I tried was adding a build-in uploader to my website, but my host didn't supported that. ok, not that big of a deal, and completely out of context but now let's get to the core of my problem;
I wanted to have an image in the resources (none made yet) and have it copied out the resources and placed along with the webpages (to use it as background image). I have tried a lot (clearly not everything or it would work) but I just don't manage to solve this. the problem is I need to be able to do this, since I want to have my .accdb in the resources to, so that it copies out when used an writes (an updated version) back to the resources and deletes the external file. but I never seem to manage to do this. I tried to read,write and other things it with IO and everything, just getting the message that it cannot be read. but I never seem to find how to copy/move it outside the program. the code I am using now looks like this:
Imports System.Reflection Imports System.IO 'this is for the writing of the .HTML files Imports System Public Class webGenerator
i want to change to font size in richtextbox using a combo box its easy to change the font size if we have one font in our selection text using this code.
RichTextBox1.SelectionFont = New Font(SelectionFont.FontFamily, CInt(ToolStripComboBox3.Text), RichTextBox1.SelectionFont.Style)
But if we have multiple fonts in our selection it dose not work. i have another code to solve this problem. But the only problem with this code it is good for less then 2000 chracters but when the selection text is large it is worthless. code is below.
I am having a _ton_ of issues, and I am hoping some of you could clear it up...
1. OK So a while back someone showed me an example for fonts from resources, but I noticed if you close the window that it opens, The entire program shuts down... what can I do to fix it?Also, The fonts are not showing up on all computers, only this one....
2. I am trying to delete a image file, which the program downloads from the internet, and can change regularly, but when I try to delete it will not delete. It says its in use, and I cant figure out where.
3. I am trying to play videos using the following
vb Private Declare Function mciSendString Lib "winmm.dll" Alias "mciSendStringA" (ByVal lpstrCommand As String, ByVal lpstrReturnString As String, ByVal uReturnLength As Integer, ByVal hwndCallback As Integer) As Integer Const WS_CHILD As Integer = &H40000000
[code]....
Now, I have confirmed the files it is attempting to play are in fact valid video files. It refuses to play all but the last one.
I want to copy and paste some files into the C:WindowsFonts Folder .These are just four small files for the font I need in my application , now a normal file copy procedure in vb.net wont work because it requires administrative privilledges
I'm working on a program (Under Visual Basic .NET 2008) that draws text on a PictureBox using a font that is already installed (registered) in system fonts. I'm wondering how can I perform the same but with a font that is not already installed on system, by adding this font file (*.ttf usually) to my solution explorer and use it in my program, given that this font file must be included in exe file.
I have a font FREE3OF9. (BARCODE FONT).I want when user run my program, the Font automatic install on their machine.So i want to copy that font to C disk of user :
Dim binWriter = New IO.BinaryWriter(IO.File.Create("C:WINDOWSFontsFREE3OF9.TTF")) binWriter.Write(My.Resources.FRE3O) binWriter.Close()
Process.Start("C:WINDOWSFontsFREE3OF9.TTF")I use above code but it is error.I import that font to my resoures .And i want to copy that font in my resoure to "C:WINDOWSFonts" of USER
I am trying to make a program that basicly, on the click of a button, removes a font from the windows font list (Un-installs it) Is there a way to do this using VB.NET (2010)The reason I want to do this is to make a program to remove the 'Comic Sans MC' font from all computers I use my pendrive on?
I found this code which alows you to copy files using the windows api, this code works perfect untill the directory that you are copying from contains sub folders (which i need to be able to do). I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction if not sugets an alternative.
I'm trying to design a windows form application. By default, .NET had put Tahome 8,25 on toolbar and Microsoft SansSerif 8,25 on everything else. To improve general look and feel of the forms I'd like to change them.
Which font family should I use as a default? And what size should they be? For:
Classic data input form (label + textbox, label + combobox...) Data grid
Is there any recommended way?
Application is a classic business app, you can think of it as an accounting type.
I'm kind of shooting in the dark here - searches don't seem to be productive on this. I want to create a .NET program to monitor the install and uninstall of fonts. If something is installed or uninstalled, I want to run a program to do something.
I thought maybe a Windows Service, but haven't gotten very far with figuring out how to monitor fonts. Is this the right way and if so, what am I overlooking? If not, is there a different way to do this?
I'm working on a Windows Forms Application. I use a Label with a special font I selected. I would like to see this font on another Windows system where the font doesn't installed. So, how can I build-in my font to the application?
I'm trying to copy a file that I made that contains license information to system32 directory. My problem is I get access denied. here is the code I'm using
Dim formatter As New BinaryFormatter Dim fileWriteStream As Stream fileWriteStream = New FileStream(My.Application.Info.DirectoryPath & "" &
I found a script online to copy some files whilst also displaying a progress bar to the user. I wondered if it was possible to automate this process so the file copy initiates as soon as the program launches and then closes once completed. VB is not my strong point as I usually code in c sharp.
Imports System.Collections.Generic Imports System.ComponentModel Imports System.IO Public Class Form1
Can you not copy files from your resources? [code] I don't get any errors but I do get an exception saying it couldn't find the file. I want to do this other than supplying the directory that it is located on on my computer because I'm not sure it it will work on other peoples computers if i have the path of the file set as "C:UsersMike.Mike-PCDocumentsVisual Studio 2010ProjectsJava IDEJava IDEResourcesCompiler.bat".
I have some dialogs in one resource file that I want to copy into another project. I opened the .rc file in the IDE and I can right-click on the dialog I want and I can choose the copy command. But when I right-click in the resource view, whether on the .RC entry or the "Dialog" entry below it, the paste command is disabled. Nor does drag&drop work.
I am working on a backup utility for use with the mysql db. Because I need the actual backup to run regardless of if a user is logged on or not, I created the backup engine in a windows service.
Basically the backup engine checks to see if a backup job is scheduled to be run and if it is, it kicks off a mysqldump to do the backup. For sake of performance I am saving all backup jobs to the local c: drive then doing a file copy to the user defined destination.
Everything works fine except for the file copy. If the user selects a local resource to the computer it works fine. However, if a network drive is selected, I get an error that it cannot find the path.
I started thinking about it and believe this is expected since the backup engine is probably oblivious to whatever mapped drives that particular user has, i.e. the mapping process is done when someone logs in and my app is running at a lower level.
I started doing some research on this problem and found that some people are saying that windows services are oblivious of networks all together. This seemed a little odd to me so I thought I would bring the issue here.
Is a windows service truely unaware of network activity? How can I change the program to move the completed backups over to a network drive?
Lets assume that I code a DLL in .Net and I've added some items to the project (For example a picture, or an XML file that contains some kind of configuration for the DLL), and I set the "Copy to output directory" to be "Copy Always".
Now, what I wanted is that if I give my compiled DLL with the bunch of files that were added as items to it, then if someone ads a reference to the DLL in his project then on compile it will copy all files and not just the DLL.
Is it even possible (Some kind of configuration on Visual Studio maybe)?
I have a file (only 280kb) added to My.Resources I want to copy this from My.Resources to, lets say, Application.StartupPath When i try:
System.IO.File.Copy(My.Resources.File, Application.StartupPath & "file.ext")but then i get this error:Value of type '1-dimensional array of Byte' cannot be converted to 'String'How can i do this?
