I need to create 3 folders (named as In,Proc,Error) in C:Ram directory. First I need to check for folder existence in directory. If any of them not present need to create missing folder. If all missed need to create all 3. Could anyone suggest a simple looping code in VB.NET for this requirement .

But i can't seem to handle the "UnauthorizedAccessException" which i get from certain read only files or folders. I tried to use both the DirectoryInfo.GetDirectories() and DirectoryInfo.GetFiles() methods. as you can see from the code below. This exception is thrown in start of the for each loop, so i'm not able to handel it with a try, Catch Ex As UnauthorizedAccessException to cintinue the loop.

View 2 RepliesI am converting a lot of projects from VB6 to VB.NET. Many of these projects use the DAO method CreateQueryDef, something ADO.NET does not. I know there is a way to replicate this method in ADOX using Catalogs, but I wanted to stay with pure ADO.NET. I have been using CREATE PROC to do this, but some of the query def's in the VB6 version mention tables/queries that are not created until later. For example,[code]The way the projects are, it is not possible to simply flip these two lines. I was wondering if there is a way to force CREATE PROC a AS SELECT FROM b even though b does not exist yet, or if there is a different option in ADO.NET to replicate the CreateQueryDef functionality.

I understand that ExtractAssociatedIcon gives you the icon of a file, not a folder. So what are my options for this objective? I don't really have a problem if I have to separate folders and files like the following.

I am currently using the Directory.GetFiles("Path of folder", "Specific Data") to search a folder for specific files and then do something with those files - this works perfectly. However i would like to search all sub folders within the top level folder also.I have seen ways to return what directories exist within the top level - which i could then use to search but was wondering if there is an easier way.

The idea is that the user can select as many audio files as he likes from a ListView, and a PropertyGrid will then display their tags + their values.When multiple files are selected, I want the property grid to display the values of the tags that all files have in common, and display empty values for tags that the files do not have in common.As an example, look at the properties list in your Visual Studio IDE when you select multiple controls (of the same type for this matter). Select a few Button controls, for example, and notice that the properties whose values are the same (often things like Font, ForeColor, etc) are displayed. Also notice that the values for properties that are not the same (Text, Name, etc) are empty.
View 17 RepliesScenario: FormA has a DataGridView with a DataTable as it's DataSource. The DefaultView of the DataTable is set to a particular filter, say "UnitFreight < 2.00". The user selects multiple rows then selects a context menu item to open up form2. Form2 does a bunch of stuff and in this example it will change the UnitFreight value in the selected rows on form1 to say 2.27. It also raises an event in form1 to adjust attribute cells such as UnitPrice.
The issue is that doing the above example puts the selected rows out of the range of the applied filter and I believe this is the issue because I end up getting a "Column named UnitPrice cannot be found" error. This is happening during the update of those attribute columns. I'm guessing the row has been filtered out so there's no column to be found. If I do the update without the filter applied it works fine. So my question is, what's the best approach to updating the data in this situation. I've started converting the updates to work against the DataTable directly instead of the DataGridView.
